There is no external power for the switch or calculator. Two wires are added to the "=" button, and these wires are attached to the microswitch or reed (magnetic) switch. Just take a calculator and enter 1 + 1 and think about having the "=" button wired to the coil counter switch. When you start winding, the switch starts pressing "=" on the calculator to add a 1 to the total, counting up. Be sure to get a fast calculator. I can press the button faster than this one can add ! you can strighten up your used wire by twisting a length of it before you start winding. your counter intriges me are you adding a 5v input to one through the microswitch? external power? cool vidio .
That's awexome man! I love the use of the calculator but I think the footpedal control is the way to go so you have two hands free to guide the wire and keep it up against the last winding on the bobbin.

you are holding the wire too close to the spool .. if you hold it 6 feet away or more it would guide itself on the spool
