  • Hi Jake... Thank you so much for answering all of my questions (especially regarding the Coltrane Changes...you explained that better than anyone else one the web I get it now!). You're a great teacher, Jake.

I just wanted to kindly tell you that

    I'm not a "Dude", but a "Dudette".

    :)

    No harm no foul.

Funny story: I used to take a lot of flack from guys back in the early 80's, being a female guitarist and all. Then I played "Eruption" at the talent show...and they shut up. :)

  • @jaibhakti Well Dudette...fair play! glad you get it...its not that hard if break it down...jazz hard!! -jh

  • Jake...you're showing your age.

When mentioning POWER CHORDS one should mention THE RAMONES...not Greenday. 'Just out of respect for the Masters of the 1-5 chord. Jk.

    (Maybe I'm showing MY age?)

    :)

It would be interesting to hear you play a cover of one of the Greenday classics using the altered jazz power chords. That would be interesting...and I'm sure you would hit it right out of the park!

    I enjoyed this lesson.

Your passion for music is refreshing and inspiring!

    Thank you.

  • @jaibhakti :) We could hook that up...all the best dude and jazz hard!

  • these are cool. would you usually use the guide tones in the bottom and the 9th and other tones higher, or can other inversions work?

  • @optics22000 yes you are correct - put the tensions above the guide tones in your voicing, they will sound great!

  • what are lush voicings???

  • Do you have to flat the 7th?

  • what kind of guitar do u use
