Hi Jake... Thank you so much for answering all of my questions (especially regarding the Coltrane Changes...you explained that better than anyone else one the web I get it now!). You're a great teacher, Jake.
I just wanted to kindly tell you that
I'm not a "Dude", but a "Dudette".
:)
No harm no foul.
Funny story: I used to take a lot of flack from guys back in the early 80's, being a female guitarist and all. Then I played "Eruption" at the talent show...and they shut up. :)
When mentioning POWER CHORDS one should mention THE RAMONES...not Greenday. 'Just out of respect for the Masters of the 1-5 chord. Jk.
(Maybe I'm showing MY age?)
:)
It would be interesting to hear you play a cover of one of the Greenday classics using the altered jazz power chords. That would be interesting...and I'm sure you would hit it right out of the park!
I enjoyed this lesson.
Your passion for music is refreshing and inspiring!

these are cool. would you usually use the guide tones in the bottom and the 9th and other tones higher, or can other inversions work?

@optics22000 yes you are correct - put the tensions above the guide tones in your voicing, they will sound great!
