When i hear a Song like this from Stevie i think of Mr. Obama who used "signed sealed delivered" as his theme song. I guess to tell the people he's their man. However, i guess the powers that be, wouldn't allow that; Because Unlike Lincoln and Kennedy he was unable to truly resist the power structure and give the people what they wanted.
@MrSpitback The man was bought and paid for before the powers put him into office. Lincoln was the first to be killed in office, and Kennedy so far has been the last. If you don't do what your told, your murdered. Presidents in the country are not elected they are selected. There is no such thing as "one man/woman one vote anymore". The whole thing is a GRAND STAND SHOW, to keep the masses thinking they are really doing something.
@TheAdisah I agree with you 90% and your right on point. However, in Barack's case i do believe he was selected but the people also selected and voted for him as well. I saw so with my own eyes!!! That does not mean that he wasn't selected, but i do believe he was in the dark about his abilities as The Chief and Commander. They only inform on a need to know basis.what promises to the people he would be able to keep was unknown by him until after he was in office. That's what i believe.
The procedure for obtaining U.S. Secret Service protection for U.S. Presidential candidates is controlled almost entirely of elected officials from the Democratic and Republican parties. I guess that helps control who is added to the U.S. Government's kill (ssassination) list.
First heard this in a dance club in Tampa in late 80's when it was new. Had to sit down to listen to it...what a great song. You will never hear good stuff like this on radio again...
I saw this video on VH1 Soul's Story a few days ago and can't get this song out of my head. I'd forgotten how great this CD was. Thanks for posting, johnniewalker23.
I Love This Stevie Wonder 1987 Hit, "Skeletons," Which Became The #1 R&B Hit In America, And It Did Played, During The Soul Train Scramble Board Segment, During The 551st Edition Of "Soul Train" On November 14, 1987.
Used this song in the First Diehard, the scene when the police car is getting shot up, and the limousine driver is in the lower parking garage, listening to this song very loud, and talking on the limo's cell phone. Great Song, always liked Stevie Wonder.
@DaveWollenberg I agree. I always consider any song that cracks the Top 20 to still be considered a Pop hit. And I'm not sure how much airplay this got on MTV, although I do think that Stevie may have been one of the R&B/Soul artists on their "playlist selection" anyway.
This always takes me back to Halloween 1987 because it says "skeletons", so of course I see skeleton cut out hanging on the windows, doors, etc. I know that sounds weird, but that year Halloween landed on a Saturday, and this radio station where I lived at that time played it a lot that particular day, and I had a lot of fun that Halloween, and that's my favorite time of the year! If I could revisit a whole year again it would be 1987. It was a lot of fun and a lot of great music that year!
This is how it's done people. Musician first, entertainer second. Not the other way around like some artists today. Perfect your craft and people will buy. Stevie is a master.
of course im still coming by later.... sweetheart have I ever lied to you.... my boss? he think I'm on my way to vegas...... limo driver that knocked theo out with one punch. classic movie.
Stevie Wonder's one of my favorite artists ever. What happened with his Characters album? It fuckin' sucked. I guess every great artist does that at one point or another though. Paul McCartney has, Bob Dylan has, Barry Gibb has, Lindsey Buckingham has, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Irving Berlin, John Williams, Burt Bacharach, Michael Jackson. But you'd think that sometime during the making of the album, they would say Hey guys! This sucks! What are we doing??
I really like the song writing on Characters. This song could have had the impact of a "Superstition", I really like the Anti Reagan aspect to this record, but I think the records 80s drum machines date it SEVERLY...he was chasing the trend of the Run DMC's and the big beat pop records.
@DiscoHank there was a video of this that I saw only once or twice and it featured Ollie North [a disgrace to the USMC] testifying to congress investigating Iran-Contra
You're a f*cking liar..this album was genius it was meant to be spritual, with love, family, and spirituality all rolled into one...and Stevie defo pulls it off like no other!!
