Cool video. I grew up in Cochrane (30 min from there). I wouldn't be drinking that water. Looks nice and clean but I've seen how many elk, deer and sheep shit in it.
The first curtain looks kind of flat and about what 40/50 feet? - to the ice ledge?. The second curtain looks mostly straight up. Is that right? Is that the WI4 sections? Thendoes it go into the canyon where you don't need pro? Is there anything after that?
The second pitch would be the only stretch of WI 4. approx. 60'. The route itself climbs a narrow gully linking multiple pitches of ice of varying degrees of difficulty - straight forward and definitely worth the trip in. Not far from, This House of Sky.
Sweet bit of soft ice. Impressively long unprotected lead. Much different than the hard, brittle chandelier ice we get here - I have had 16 cm screws - dinner plate out.
Is the Joe Josephson who posted a comment "THE" Joe Josephson who did the first ascent of "Sea of Vapors" in the mid 1990s? Great video, I love Banff and I love ice climbing.
Is this THE Mr JoJo? Not Aquarius, scenes showed driving into the north Ghost. In the sun means the north side of the valley but not VOTB so maybe VOTS or Beowulf.
lol thats what i was saying .... i still wouldnt drink from that water though .... with the way corps. droping nasty crap in it all the time ... thats why i drink my well water .... only birds and lil furrys pee in that water ... lol
its called the ghost wilderness because of the ghost river that runs through it. I've spent the better part of several winters climbing in there and it is an amazingly beautiful and pristine area. it is one of the gems of Canadian Rockies ice climbing and is worth a visit anytime of the year.
it is Beowulf, further up the Valley from THOS. Classic route with lots of little bits of ice up high in the Devils Punchbowl. There are some great views from the ridge into Malamute Valley. Go do it and have fun!
Wow that looks like fun, my uncle was an old ice man,he`s 90 this year.

Oh really... Depending on what I ate the previous day, my shit floats about half the time. Why wouldn't this hold true for animals?
