the director used melina mercury because when you want to make a saccessful movie you use a beautyfull actress but when you want to make a masterpiece you use a symbol

the thing that later they got married is irrelevant

also eric ambler never mentioned the exact age in the novel

@scryerofold yeah, she was a little bit older than your typical leading lady, but it leant authenticity to the part. if she's going to be the leader of a gang of thieves, why would you believably think it was a woman in her 20's

Loved the music, photography and on location scenery, the acrobatic actor who doesn't speak, and mostly, the allure and promise of Melina teased at from the outset--albeit never fulfilled inasmuch as she virtually disappears from the film--but sadly, this movie falls flat and ultimately disappoints!
