@sirach Like I said, and I think you already know this well enough :P, I am 100% against that, not just because I prefer using a native language, but because Chavacano will receieve the same, if not more, backlash as much as the Tagalogs are getting now, and will also get accused of trying to take over our culture. Disaster is all your going to get from it... I think restoring our sulats, not just baybayin, but the other regional sulats, is worth more to make official in my honest opinion.
@sirach It definitely makes you sound like a lower person, perhaps I made a good job of convincing you otherwise, but I actually dislike it in general as much as you do ;) however, when I have had to repeat what I said, 5x at least, and then I get accused by being obsessed just because I had to repeat myself for you to comprehend correctly, that alone gets annoying much more than swearing, and that wasn't even most of what that arguement had that was idiotic.
@sirach And I know what creoles are, again, for the third time I believe, this is what I am seeing, this is not my 100% belief yet, although obviously I should've been specific about that.
@sirach Perhaps you don't know just how far our arguements have came from, but then this is why you don't jump into another conversation, telling someone whatever. Trust me, you would get annoyed as well, if someone denies almost everything you and someone else says even though both of you have sufficient evidence, and also misinterprets you to the point where it just looks like they are trying to twist your words. Sure, I could've been the bigger person, but this time I didn't care.
@sirach And manners is almost nonexistant in very public places such as youtube, and hmm, we both equally exchanged names towards each other, yet you will just reply to me. Do you know how "credible" you sound right now? The names do not come into the conversation until you make an ignorant statement or a watered down insult, do you think I truly insulted him just for having a different opinion? No, I still know how ignorant he is from the last conversation we had.
@sirach And as for Spearman, seriously don't jump in this... We had another debate in another vid, this is where I come off from, if you were in mine and 3 other peoples shoes, you would know, with everything pre-hispanic related, he denies almost all of it, tbh it's getting really old. And you should know how sensitive of a topic this can be, sure I can respect your own opinions most of the time, but I would never want to see my country turn into that, everyone has a bias, including you.
With me liking chavacano, it's not even biased. I was born in Manila, grew up in Manila, had tagalog as native language, and I don't have chavacano speaking parents/relatives or loved ones.
@sirach Didn't I just said this is not what I truly say, this is only what I hear, the "slang-spanish" or something like that has been said by a lot of commenters either on this vid, or another, actually there was a video here on youtube describing the differences of actual Spanish and Chavacano. That's when they made the differences obvious. However I could've had better choice in words in my comment to ronelle
@sirach and in regards to that, better? All nations are not better than the other, I am just emphasizing how much our identity really matters, and the importance to maintain it's integrity.
@sirach You were sounding very good standing on impartialness and convincing until the last part -_- But anyways, indeed same views as I on religion, I had just thought you had the views of "follow only one master", that's what I'm saying, it's very limiting when they are very similar to each other.
@sirach and btw, here's a line from the Laguna copperlate that talks about the Kingdom of Tondo, referencing it as "Tundun" "On this occasion, Lady Angkatan, and her brother whose name is Bukah, the children of the Honourable Namwaran, were awarded a document of complete pardon from the Commander in Chief of Tundun, represented by the Lord Minister of Pailah, Jayadewa." You can google this very line up either, and get many results
@sirach aka having an open mind, and replying to your last comment, well they only ever forced their influences and oppresed our ancestors for 300 years, vs. what? The Kingdom of Tondo(im pretty sure it was this kingdom, if im not mistaken) has been around since the Laguna copperlate, which was found to be from 900 A.D. I don't see what's so special about the hispanic influence, we don't even take it as much as Latin America does anyways, shows how closer we are to our original roots.
@sirach And besides, it isn't just the spanish who believe in christianity, they were not the first ones nor the creators either. But this doesn't mean I don't reject some beliefs of hinduism, same goes for other religions, following another master is not believing in their teachings, and their teachings only, worshipping is different, you can learn from everything, just because it's from a religion doesn't mean you have to isolate yourself from it. You can still keep your own faith.
@sirach to say that their ruler is from the gods. Regardless, with that logic, it would say that every christian is colonial-mentalized. I separate religion from culture, there may be some connections, but ultimately they have become worldwide. The Japanese muslims or christians aren't colonial-mentalized, same goes for modern christians, some filipino don't even know who brought christianity to us. Actually, some portuguese have already converted some of our ancestors back then.
@sirach Hinduism was spread throughout, but it wasn't entirely my specific ancestor's religion, Kapampangans also had their own polytheistic beliefs, hence the ancient kingdom of Tondo's rulers used the term "Lakan" as one would refer to a ruler, it was like Rajah, but saying it like "rajah lakan dula" is incorrect, it is a title in its own. Anyways, the definition of Lakan is loosely translated into "descendant or from the gods". Interesting, isn't it? It's a trend in a lot of monarchies
@ronelle106 i agree. we could not have any problem communicating with the latin american countries from mexico down to argentina except brazil. imagine, almost half of the american continent speaks spanish. not to mention mother land spain
@ThtOnePinoy what's your problem? I can freely say that tagalog is one of the ugliest sounding languages. I hate using it, but then I've got no choice. If you speak foreign language, filipinos won't understand, if you speak dialects, they will consider you inferior (i.e bisaya), but then if you speak english, people will stereotype you as coño or social climber. Lame Tagalog - that's why it could have been better if it's not the national language.
@ronelle106 Don't think I don't agree with you on this, because I do, my language, Kapampangan sounds so awesome, in my opinion, and my opinion only, I think it's much more structured, because tagalog's structure is what they call a "love language", the structure is like for example, ever heard old english? Anyways, I don't see why we have tagalog as a national language, but tbh I would prefer it over tsabakano being the national language
@ronelle106 We're just going to get frustrated and angry at Tsabakano, and who knows, they could probably do the same thing, making it forced, killing of the other languages, oh and did you know some schools in the Philippines fine you if you speak another filipino language? Oh btw, yours and my language are not mere dialects, they are very distinct from tagalog, make sure you remember this.
@ThtOnePinoy Don't impose to us your ultranationalist ideals. I think you are the one who needs to remember something. FILIPINO IS THE LANGUAGE - TAGALOG, CHAVACANO, AND OTHERS ARE, NONETHELESS, DIALECTS. And perhaps you also need to remember a lesson in Filipino - Antas ng Wika - 5. Balbal 4. Kolokyal 3. Lalawiganin 2. Pambansa (Tagalog) 1. Pampanitikan (Tagalog idioms). How sad, the languages you call are just considered as "3rd class"...
@ronelle106 Hmm, dialects you say? So what is the "dialect" of tagalog from? Sorry, these are not mere dialects, they are different languages disctinct from one another while having some things in common. "Filipino" is just tagalog with a new paint cover/name. And holy shit do you not understand what I say? THESE ARE WHAT I HEAR WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT CHAVACANO, NOT MY OWN. Good grief, although me personally, I prefer our native languages(all of them), why would Chavacano be bad?
@ronelle106 And lastly, when you understand the structure of Tsabakano, it is far from pretty, believe me, it's better than nothing, but it's basically a slang-type spanish apparently from what some spanish and filipino say, I don't even understand and I can even tell some differences sometimes from this and actual Spanish. Oh btw, there's more documents written about us than just Spanish, our asian neighbors, Japan, China, Malaysia, Brunei, S.E. Asia all have ancient records, pre-spanish times
@ThtOnePinoy First it is chavacano and Not "tsabakano". IT is not slang spanish. it is spanish creole. it is a language with all the rules of grammar and syntax. Just like haitian patois which is french creole. Chavacano is not a pidgin language. Where do you people get this nonsense?
@Spearman36 I honestly don't give a shit how it's spelled as much as you give a shit about our pre-hispanic history. Secondly, I am getting this from the Spanish who are commenting about it, and the filipino, they both say this, not me.
@ThtOnePinoy So you're saying that Chavacano is bad? You may, as it's subjective. I may also say that tagalog is worse, and the others as well, since I already considered Chavacano the best dialect. If you can defend that slang is the same as creole, then go ahead. With those documents, it's pretty irrelevant since I'm contesting tagalog, not those countries. Since you opened it up, those countries have a LITTLE, but did any of those countries referred the archipelago as a whole country?
@ThtOnePinoy and btw, TAGALOG does not really represent our culture. Only few literatures are in tagalog, most of them are spanish and dialects translated to tagalog. -.-
me and even my fellow Zamboangueño Latinos, really hated the pushing of using tagalog as medium of instruction.
let it be subject isnted but to the extend their taking adavantage in propagting it ofr the the benfit of the Tagalogs.
someday, looking forward that in the birthplace of our race-Zamboangueño Latino, our langauage(Zamboangueño) will then become the medium of instruction...if then this cannot achieve, Separation from the republic is
@ThtOnePinoy Really, and what ancient kingdoms were they? The negritos or Agtas were the first peoples of the "Philippines" and your so-called "ancient kingdoms" who were not indigenous to Luzon destroyed those negrito societies who were numerous before their arrival. The Spaniards were not the first colonizers of Luzon. It was your "ancient kingdoms and your "imaginary kingships" and your "glorious ancestors" who subjugated and marginalized the negritos. It continues to this day.
Lol, Jose Rizal himself hated the Chinese. If you read the Noli Me Tangere, it's full of hatred towards the Chinese, from calling the Chinese Cemetary as burial grounds for the heathen to Don Quiroga, the Chinaman, whom he wrote with so much ridicule. In Ambeth Ocampo's book "Rizal without the Overcoat", Rizal wrote a letter bitching on a Chinese neighbor in Dapitan. During his trial, he insisted on the court to refer to him as indio rather than sangley (Chinese).
@sirach I am actually a non-tagalog but I regard tagalog (a.k.a Pilipino) as my "mother" tongue. Although I understand the great unifying force the concept of a "national language" is I would much rather prefer a 3rd language as a "lingua franca" if it will get rid of the animosity of the non-tagalogs to the language. If I were to choose a 3rd language I'd prefer the both English and Spanish be taught.
@explorersl Very true...He was fighting for equal rights and citizeship of the Indios/Filipinos, not Independence. But I guess the Spanish government then did not like the idea of Indios being their equal. And they killed him which was a mistake. They killed a true Spaniard and a the first true Filipino.
Wenceslao Retana, the archenemy of Jose Rizal, converted after the heroe's execution. He blamed the execution of Rizal for the loss of the Philippines.
@Guachinanggo LOL, colonial mentality to the max. Wtf lost republic? What about the kingdoms of luzon? They actually existed and are worth more to re-establish. Our original culture is far more important. I agree, the tagalogs push their identity too much into us, but you're no better than them...
@ThtOnePinoy Colonial mentality? Thats the biggest bullshit ever perpetuated by people who have the colonial mentality because they tried so hard to be so-called "indigenous". My people's identities remained intact and our cultures enriched by various influences like the Spanish. We Visayans remain to this day as Cebuanos, Bul-anons, Bukidnons, Payanese, Hiligaynon, Waray, Leytenyo, Davawenyo, etc . etc, LOL. You are truly ignorant.
@Spearman36 LOL, and which empire do you think had the connection with the island of visayas? None other than the Srivijaya empire!!! And who's empire was it? It was a malay empire! And who drove the aetas and negritos back? The first malay settlers! So don't think your ancestors were innocent, they were just as guilty of driving them back.
@Spearman36 I agree. The fact that Filipino culture has been enriched by outsiders does not make Filipinos any less Filipino. I've been following the comments made here, and ThtOnePinoy sounds like an ignorant Fascist, lashing out at others who are not as "indigenous" as he is.
Kudos a Napolinario.

Filipinas a Beatiful Country. I love this country, but many complain abt Spain and other that came to conquer , I think this people came to conect you to the new world because before that people did live in mountains so civilization came but was taken the wrong way in both sides unfourtanely things happen the way it happen lets move on and look forward tha is my suggestion. time to heal, but u do not complaint about the yankis coming to use ur girls as prostitutes only spain is bad.
Hahahaha, Yanks use girls as prostitute and servants! Spainiards raped the girls, the priest raped everybody, Spanish government rape the whole Philippines!
If I only have enough resources and in the position, I will improve my country's arm forces and wage a new war against all colonizers who contributed to the misery of this mother land! As I listen to songs like this I can't just close my eyes and not feel rage and curse against this "kaliskis ng bangus-skinned" colonizer bandits!!!
Careful miguel, to much verga in your culo is also known to cause hemorrhoids. you have enough medical issues as it is. and always remember to use protecyion!!!
Does some monument exist in The Philippines where are remembered to the mas of 1.000.000 of Filipinos died with the war against the Americans from 1898 to 1910 ?
Emilio Aguinaldo should have not been made into a president and hero. He sold his own people, that's why he went to Hongkong to received the first installment of 400,000 mexican dollars. He was paid by the Spanish government to disband his revolutionary government. The money were divided among him and his junta. Independence day should not be June 9. Jun 9 as our independence day is a glorification of Aguinaldo's treason
Source:History & Conquest of the Phils by Alden March AM Copyright 1899
Ah ok, I get your point. Nick Joaquin too thinks Emilio Aguinaldo was a jackass. Haha. Aguinaldo, Bonifacio, Rizal and Gregorio Del Pilar to be exact. Joaquin had more respect for Antonio Luna. Try getting a copy of the book "A Question of Heroes" by Nick Joaquin. It's a good read. =)
wow....tengo gusto....i like the music both tagalog and spanish.
But Philippine education has been abolish the Spanish language in 1960's i think. Filipino hate Spanish so much because Spanish is so cruel to the Filipino. That's why the revolution was born in the philippines.
You are so wrong. Rizal did not revolt against Spain, in fact, he opposed revolution and did not want to have anything to do with the Katipunan. He opposed and wrote the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo to attack the frairs who abused their power and oppressed the people. Get your facts straight and read about Rizal, Noli and Fili before you make absurd and factually wrong actuations.
there are so many stupid spaniards (and filipinos who believe them) then and now. why not just admit that the spaniards did nothing for the majority of people during their heyday in de las islas filipinas; then afterwards do something to promote the spanish language in the phils now in order to redeem themselves? they should have left us their language and not their useless religion in the first place.

This poem really goes to my heart. Rizal studied in Barcelona and was not understood at that moment by the Spanish authorities. Those pictures show non inocent people, rapers, murderers and other outlaws caught by the police. There was no repression by the spanish authorities.
Te United States should have never stolen Filipinas to Spain, an European, pacific and civilized country.
actually, pelotillo, the spanish didn't do much to uplift the life of the filipinos. it was the americans who instituted a public school system, something the spanish would never have done. to say that there was no repression is to willfully turn a blind eye to the truth.
Spain didn'd anihilate native population like the americans did in the US and in other places. Thats why in the spanish countries there are mestizos and in the US they are still proud to be WASP. There is no comparison between human right respect in the spanish colonies than in british ones. Consider we are talking of the XV and XVI centuries!
We were building that educational system when we were attaked and defeated by the US with the only intention to have a new beach to practice surf. We simply had no time to finish.
Anyway that happend long time ago. But still now, when things go very bad for someone, there is a sayinig in Spain: "Más se perdió en Cuba" which means "We lost even more in Cuba", so why worry for this.
Fact remains that the Americans stole Philippine independence. Worse, they did this by tricking Aguinaldo and pretending to be friends.
Filipinos are not grateful to the Spanish either. That is why we revolted against them in the first place.
However, we have to accept the fact that the Filipino nation, including its revolution, is a product of Hispanization. It was Spanish misrule that cemented the various Filipino groups into a nation. Mabuhay!
huh???? wannabe Chinese??? do you have any idea of what you are talking about??? Chinese has been in the Philippines for centuries! so it's logical that we posses some of their culture! think first before commenting...
Woojoo! Eh di Chinese wannabe ka nga. Kitams! You think their chink eyes are superior to your brown skin? You wannabe like them? You wanna be like the slaves of the US railroad constructions? You wannabe the Heathen Chinese that Jose Rizal himself hated? Bwehehehehehehe!
i'm not a wannabe.i'm just being asian....and chinese culture on every country in sia.....foods and gestures also affected the filipinos in many ways...sya nga pala why bat ka nagsasalita ng wikang banyaga sa pahina ng pahayagan ko??? sige nga? ibig bang sabihin nyan sa salitang banyaga ay ''bitch'' ka ng amerika dahil nagsalita ka ng wika nila? kahit ikaw hinde mo namamalayan na bitagka na ng sarili mong salita!!! don't give lectures on us...if you can't even stand to be corrected
What makes you think Tagalog is not banyaga to Cebuanos or Ilonggos or Tausugs? And what makes you think English is American? It's Anglo-Saxon in case you didn't know. Briton! At anong koneksyon ng Ingles sa pinagtatalunan natin?
Teka, ikaw pala promotor nitong video na toh? I don't get your glitch, isn't this against the Chinese wannabe concept? Sorry, I thought you were one of them fucking Filam Fliggers obsessed with being Asian.
Anyways, I was just being sarcastic to Don Miguel.
Of course were Asian. I just hate the way those fucking Filam Fliggers make Filipinos sound like Chinese wannabes by obsessing themselves with being Asian!
This is the first time I ever heard Rizal's MI ULTIMO ADIOS sung with an accompanying musical instrument and collage. My great grandfather fought against the Spanish and later on the American invaders. Viva La Republica Pilipinas!! Viva!!

FILIPINO IS THE LANGUAGE - TAGALOG, CHAVACANO, AND OTHERS ARE, NONETHELESS, DIALECTS. And perhaps you also need to remember a lesson in Filipino - Antas ng Wika - 5. Balbal 4. Kolokyal 3. Lalawiganin 2. Pambansa (Tagalog) 1. Pampanitikan (Tagalog idioms). How sad, the languages you call are just considered as "3rd class"...
ronelle106 9 months ago
@ronelle106 Hmm, dialects you say? So what is the "dialect" of tagalog from? Sorry, these are not mere dialects, they are different languages disctinct from one another while having some things in common. "Filipino" is just tagalog with a new paint cover/name. And holy shit do you not understand what I say? THESE ARE WHAT I HEAR WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT CHAVACANO, NOT MY OWN. Good grief, although me personally, I prefer our native languages(all of them), why would Chavacano be bad?
ThtOnePinoy 9 months ago
@ronelle106 And lastly, when you understand the structure of Tsabakano, it is far from pretty, believe me, it's better than nothing, but it's basically a slang-type spanish apparently from what some spanish and filipino say, I don't even understand and I can even tell some differences sometimes from this and actual Spanish. Oh btw, there's more documents written about us than just Spanish, our asian neighbors, Japan, China, Malaysia, Brunei, S.E. Asia all have ancient records, pre-spanish times
ThtOnePinoy 9 months ago
@ThtOnePinoy First it is chavacano and Not "tsabakano". IT is not slang spanish. it is spanish creole. it is a language with all the rules of grammar and syntax. Just like haitian patois which is french creole. Chavacano is not a pidgin language. Where do you people get this nonsense?
Spearman36 9 months ago
@Spearman36 I honestly don't give a shit how it's spelled as much as you give a shit about our pre-hispanic history. Secondly, I am getting this from the Spanish who are commenting about it, and the filipino, they both say this, not me.
ThtOnePinoy 9 months ago
@ThtOnePinoy So you're saying that Chavacano is bad? You may, as it's subjective. I may also say that tagalog is worse, and the others as well, since I already considered Chavacano the best dialect. If you can defend that slang is the same as creole, then go ahead. With those documents, it's pretty irrelevant since I'm contesting tagalog, not those countries. Since you opened it up, those countries have a LITTLE, but did any of those countries referred the archipelago as a whole country?
ronelle106 9 months ago
@ThtOnePinoy and btw, TAGALOG does not really represent our culture. Only few literatures are in tagalog, most of them are spanish and dialects translated to tagalog. -.-

The years of Spanish occupation ruins the primitive commune system of the
Philippine Ancient Society and ruins the Islamic social core in most of the
main islands of the archipelago except Mindanao.
The struggle against the occupation continues in many forms and creating a Culture of Resistance until today....
yousofmm 1 year ago
@yousofmm They also ruined the several ancient kingdoms, thanks for pointing this out.
ThtOnePinoy 9 months ago
@ThtOnePinoy Really, and what ancient kingdoms were they? The negritos or Agtas were the first peoples of the "Philippines" and your so-called "ancient kingdoms" who were not indigenous to Luzon destroyed those negrito societies who were numerous before their arrival. The Spaniards were not the first colonizers of Luzon. It was your "ancient kingdoms and your "imaginary kingships" and your "glorious ancestors" who subjugated and marginalized the negritos. It continues to this day.

i hate those people who say that Jose Rizal is filipino chinese. fuck them. rizal didn't even care about his chinese blood even if that's true
ronelle106 1 year ago
@ronelle106

@Guachinanggo LOL, colonial mentality to the max. Wtf lost republic? What about the kingdoms of luzon? They actually existed and are worth more to re-establish. Our original culture is far more important. I agree, the tagalogs push their identity too much into us, but you're no better than them...
ThtOnePinoy 9 months ago
@ThtOnePinoy Colonial mentality? Thats the biggest bullshit ever perpetuated by people who have the colonial mentality because they tried so hard to be so-called "indigenous". My people's identities remained intact and our cultures enriched by various influences like the Spanish. We Visayans remain to this day as Cebuanos, Bul-anons, Bukidnons, Payanese, Hiligaynon, Waray, Leytenyo, Davawenyo, etc . etc, LOL. You are truly ignorant.
Spearman36 9 months ago 3
@Spearman36 LOL, and which empire do you think had the connection with the island of visayas? None other than the Srivijaya empire!!! And who's empire was it? It was a malay empire! And who drove the aetas and negritos back? The first malay settlers! So don't think your ancestors were innocent, they were just as guilty of driving them back.
ThtOnePinoy 9 months ago
@Spearman36 I agree. The fact that Filipino culture has been enriched by outsiders does not make Filipinos any less Filipino. I've been following the comments made here, and ThtOnePinoy sounds like an ignorant Fascist, lashing out at others who are not as "indigenous" as he is.

This poem really goes to my heart. Rizal studied in Barcelona and was not understood at that moment by the Spanish authorities. Those pictures show non inocent people, rapers, murderers and other outlaws caught by the police. There was no repression by the spanish authorities.
Te United States should have never stolen Filipinas to Spain, an European, pacific and civilized country.
pelotillo 3 years ago
actually, pelotillo, the spanish didn't do much to uplift the life of the filipinos. it was the americans who instituted a public school system, something the spanish would never have done. to say that there was no repression is to willfully turn a blind eye to the truth.
chessbuff 3 years ago
Spain didn'd anihilate native population like the americans did in the US and in other places. Thats why in the spanish countries there are mestizos and in the US they are still proud to be WASP. There is no comparison between human right respect in the spanish colonies than in british ones. Consider we are talking of the XV and XVI centuries!
pelotillo 3 years ago
obviously, you haven't heard of cabeza de vaca.
chessbuff 3 years ago
We were building that educational system when we were attaked and defeated by the US with the only intention to have a new beach to practice surf. We simply had no time to finish.
Anyway that happend long time ago. But still now, when things go very bad for someone, there is a sayinig in Spain: "Más se perdió en Cuba" which means "We lost even more in Cuba", so why worry for this.
pelotillo 3 years ago
Fact remains that the Americans stole Philippine independence. Worse, they did this by tricking Aguinaldo and pretending to be friends.
Filipinos are not grateful to the Spanish either. That is why we revolted against them in the first place.
However, we have to accept the fact that the Filipino nation, including its revolution, is a product of Hispanization. It was Spanish misrule that cemented the various Filipino groups into a nation. Mabuhay!
