  • She sounds great!

  • What a testimony for a saint of God! This sure brought back the memories!

  • OMG, Everytime I hear this song I start to cry, weather its a family member or a total stranger's funeral. This song is OMG. Yall sould hear the Mother at my church sing it.

  • I love this song. My grandmother went to sleep in Jesus on Tuesday night, January 10,2006 at age 100. This was her testimony and one of her favorites songs to hear. She shouted everytime she heard. Thanks for sharing this.

  • This song was originated by "Mahalia Jackson" but finding it has been a very hard task!

  • You have never been so wrong. First of all Mahalia's style would not allow her to sing this song. Victoria Hawkins recorded it. You will not find one recording of Mahalia singing it. Keep in mind, Mahalia's music is so classic, you can almost name everything she has ever sung. The only song I know where she shared equal with another artist was Marion Williams' "Standing Here Wondering". Let's do our research and post it here.

  • do you know where I can download Victoria Hawkins' version?

  • I've never heard of Mahalia Jackson singing this song, but it certainly fits into things she could have sung.

She had two styles - the New Orleans style that she sang in Chicago Black churches, and the more "laid back" style that she sang for white audiences.

Check her out at the Jazz Festival singing "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". She starts off "laid back" and ended up tearing down the house...

  • I have seen this song break up a many of funerals!!!!

  • LOL!!!! so have I!!! wow, i grew up hearing this song "tear up" our church many times....we had two people who would TEAR THIS UP as a duet!!

  • Look for "Victoria Hawkins". She sings this version. You won't be able to tell the difference.

  • WHERE DID U FOUND IT AT?

  • I love this song. I have looked for it on cd for years and can not find this song anywhere. Thanks for posting it. I play it all the time. Does anyone know who recorded it.

  • WHERE DID U GET THE SONG FROM?

  • love this!

  • I love this song. When you hear of my homegoing, don't worry about me.

  • Sing Sista, You better Sing
