  • Over nine thousand joke..not even cool.

  • Damn! Love it! It rips Blade Runner and The Usual Suspects, got a cool twist and is basically saying even tone deaf people can make music that turns a crowd into face melting zombie freaks! What more could you want from advert?

  • I'm heading away from the holiday period to my parents. Away from the studio. The one thing I packed in my bag was my Octatrack! It was the MPC or the Octatrack ... the Octrack won. Poor MPC will remain in the studio. He'll be ok though, I covered him with a blanket to keep him warm.

  • it's a trap. dammit hector...

  • Yes please!

  • I would like to hear that dubstep track from beginning to end. :)

  • Its a dope video, but too long, and it really doesn't explain anything

  • Interesting, nice machine, pretty nice beat. But I didn't like the video, too weird for me.

  • 5:37, bladerunner?

  • A far a reliablity goes the Krg electribes do suffer from knob/encoder jitter eventually as well as the conductors wearing out on the metal pads

But they are built well and will last a long time, i had an emx for 6 years without 1 problem hardware or O.S.

  • @H4NDCRAFTED oh that should of been *rubber pads and im on a wireless keyboard thats failing, soz about the broken english.

  • I hate this sort of advertising I find it patronising and not very creative, make me nervous about the substance of the product.

  • OMG best video on youtube...so good the director of this vid should make a 2 hour movie based on that hector guy....awsome vid..loved it

  • Electribe ES: simply and smart, no bugs and it'll live more linger that OT, OT2 and even OT3 =))))))

  • @castaglow While i think the electribes..had emx and got es even thought about the sx, are great products that are very reliable, and the o.s works pretty much 100%, you get what you pay for generally.

Korgs dsp filters etc are no where close to stuff found on Elektrons offerings, the seq is a different world.

But if you want basic and reliable korgs deff are a great option.

  • -Also the korgs are very advanced a way better value I think, you can do parameter loks as you can step edit the automation you do or (motion seq) as korg like to call it.

However the Elektons are way more advanced.

  • Wowwww!!! awesome piece!Coolest advert I ever saw!!!

    Geetings from Kanario in Norway

  • Definitely the coolest product promo of all time!

  • That's the coolest way to promote a musical device I have ever seen!

  • At 4:10 I fell of the chair, that is an amazing beat =)

  • I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe...

  • Fantastico!! What a sampler! Most proud of my husbands acting tho.... Lots of love, all ways, intil the day I die.

    /am.s.g

  • lol, what a great ad.

  • Graet creative video!!!!

  • Love this, the Octatrack itself is a banger, had the joy of playing with it a whole lot and it truly is the next generation of hardware samplers, the OS isn't entirely finished though and there are a few bugs but Elektron has been very quick to respond with bug fixes/updates for the 0.99 OS. Waiting eagerly for the last pieces to fall into place in 1.00 :)

  • 18 STUPID IDIOTS click unlike . OMG

  • most epic trailer ever! it eats mac 1984 for breakfast!

  • Three words: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

  • WTF

  • Comment removed

  • Had mine for 4 days, it's the FUCKING DON!!! Amazing machine.

  • BADASS ..I hope the machine is as dope as the trailer...

  • I know the guy that made the masks and bodys and etc

  • 5:26 I can't hear clearly what the soldier guy says to the interrogator at this point: "Sir, ....?"

  • I'm not sure I understand this marketing approach haha

  • LAME.

  • That was easily the vaguest promo I've ever seen in my life. How's about a demo?

  • The survivor's tone deaf!!! HAHAHA! Brilliant!

  • Terrible ad.

  • awesome

  • HA HA YEA.. after watching that I NEED ONE. jk

    Its around 1500 bucks.

  • 1 Love...Great acting....where is the movie????

  • Good advert, shame the machine is crap :)

  • @aikighost

You have NO fucking idea what you're talking. Go play with your Fruity Loops little boy. Octatrack is for the big boys.

  • @mrpumpum2010 Lol, actually my favoured tolls are maschine and komplete 7. This thing is an expensive toy for Elektron fanboys. Point me to a single video of anyone doing anything original or musical with the ocktatrak, I double dare you.

  • @aikighost

Maschine-neat little toy. Octatrack? It just got released. Wait a few months and then you'll be saving your money. Regarding Elektron, they make the best drum machine in the WORLD period. Octatrack is their latest instrument and will be HUGE. Those in the know, KNOW. If you don't know, you soon will.

  • @aikighost Well, considering a relatively decent laptop for music/audio should cost at least £500.00, plus Maschine at around £400.00, plus Komplete at around £300.00, I'd say I was better off having spent only £950.00 on my Octatrack. I bought Maschine and it was the glitchiest piece of shit I've ever encountered - sure, it may just work well for you with your laptop, but I tried it and I thought it sucked - have you tried it? I had it less than an hour and it blew me away. Not a toy.

  • @VYD239 Re Maschine being glitchy. For me Maschine is rock solid stable (better than ableton live), I gig with it and use it in the studio on an almost daily basis and have never had a single problem. Maybe your computer was badly configured?

Im of the opinion that Maschine and Komplete is a real music production solution Octattrak is an expensive toy for poseurs.

  • @aikighost Like I said, it didn't work for me but does for you, congratulations, it's too subjective to debate. But I experienced it, tried it, and if I want to go slagging it off, at least can I speak from experience. But you are criticising the OT without having used it yourself, so your comments are unfounded. You're essentially calling me a poser, but I use mine in a studio, on my own - so who am I posing too, myself? The guys at Elektron are genius's, andl really nice people too.

  • @VYD239 I'm still waiting for a single decent demo video of this thing. Seriously just one convincing video? I have yet to see any decent music produced with it.

Now as for Elektron stuff in general I do really like the machinedrum its a great piece of kit, what they should have done instead of bringing out the octatrak is updated the machinedrum with sampling and looping capabilities and a USB3 port :)

  • @aikighost The videos I agree, are typical 4/4, same old techno blah blah, and do not do it justice - and that's my point, you can't judge the OT from this, because it has not been seen in the hands of someone who is taking it's usage beyond standard dance music . The majority of videos on here of people using grooveboxes, MPCs, Roland MC808s, Yamaha SU700s, etc etc are the same old crap. That doesn't make the machines bad, its the people using them that aren't pushing the limits.

  • @VYD239 What does pushing it to its limits even mean..People do housey techno stuff cos thats what they bought the machines for cos that the music them and many others actually enjoy..What will pushing t to the limit involve, making some New-age vegan crunk with it?

  • @worldfullofcunts If new age vegan crunk involves a more diverse approach to composition, then yes. I'm not judging anyone just to diss, I'm using them as an example to illustrate why many people are disappointed with this machine, because there doesn't seem to be any videos of it being used in an extraordinary way, but it can accommodate that kind of usage. If people are given the impression that it is predominantly a machine for making 4/4, that may turn a particular type of musician off.

  • @VYD239 Well it would be diverse, probably be shit as well, but fair enough!

  • lorna..derek..richarrrrarrd lol

  • Oh f*ck what a vid !!! awesome promotion! :D

  • what's the status? It's over 9000, sir!

  • ...what's his status again?

  • This is the most intense product promo I have ever seen. I was not expecting this at all.

  • Reminds me of Killzone 2

  • Fucking excellent marketing by Elektron, fair play. : )

  • Death by DJ?....WTF?!!

What the hell kind of music culture consumer message is dat? I friggen' love it!

  • Wicked, totally Usual Suspects too! Hector as Keyser Soze-awsome. Should have given him a cup with 'Elekron' written on the bottom instead of ' KOBAYASHI' ha ha.

If the finished product is half as good as the advertising then It looks like I'm spending some beens this year. Bravo Elektron

  • sakiiiiiiittt! gak nyangka ini iklan alat musik =))

  • OMG what a great promotion

  • Reminds me of a really bad trip but with dope ass musik

  • Hector smiles? It is the end times... but I've been to a few clubs that looked like that the next day. Next ad shows more of the "how to" perhaps?

  • @RingAndSky It's not a good dance-club unless someone gets decapitated doing the Melbourne Shuffle...

  • I agree with the comments. This is an absolutely brilliant piece of advertising for a brilliant piece of kit. You guys are always AMAZING!

  • it looks like more money was spent on this promo than the movie PRIMER, and primer had better music.

  • Very interesting. I'd really like see how it works. (ie. a functionality walk-through)

  • I had to comment when he said 'it's over 9000' HA! that's hilarious that a company like Elektron did that

  • The Octatrack sounds very kewl!

  • Cool ad, but let's see the actual machine for more than a split second.

  • This is single-handedly the greatest advert ever recorded. Please make more. And bring back Hector. Hector is my hero!

  • IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!

  • This is, amazing.

  • so, you make the best machines in the world and now you drop the best ad's ever?

pff, i'm gonna kill myself if you stop doing the dopest dope.

    this is great.

  • Hello ;)

  • holyCRAP that was an awesome ad.

  • Amazing stuff! Now I'd love to see what that device is actually capable of.

  • What are these fuckin' tracks ? Harsh, dark and impressive.

  • Yeah! This is professional marketing 2010. Hope the Octatrack is the same quality! :)

  • I really LOVE this! So sinister, so dark, so evil! This is for me The Future Sound of London mixed with Event Horizon / Aliens. Really good atmosphere and brutal acting! I'd definantly see the movie! :-)

  • so this drum machine will actually cause people to turn into Weevils from Torchwood and then die, correct?

  • where's the vimeo version!!!

    :D

  • 4:12 Jimmy 'The Schnoz' Durante

  • great cinematography, but a little arduous to get information about what the octotrack is like in a performance setting

  • Dragon Ball "over 9000", Blade runner "I've heard things", Keyser Söze its really just a terrific video!!

  • Very impressive!

  • I swear If this product ain't as "raw" (that's Chicagoan for cool or nice) as this promo they made for it then I'm personally calling Elektron myself and I'm goin the fuck off!!!!!

  • Sweet vid.

  • they killed it in this video. this is fantastic marketing. way to go elektron.

  • COOL! But not $1500 cool..

  • cool im a proud brother !! 4.16-4.19 thats my littlebrother !! lol :)

  • I really like this movie!

Movie genre like this should exist for us gear freaks :)

I can se Rodrigez or Tarantino making something like this, LOL!

  • Not subscribing to any OT hype hollywood style but looking forward to the actual release and update... seems the OT won't have Midi sequencing until update early in 2011... & after reading latest on the elektron homepage I suspect that there won't be a manual until they actually finish the OS... ie - notice the big gap in the number of machines that will be available at initial release?

Anyway u look at it a modern day sampler is rare enough to get away with flashy marketing... good luck!

  • Excellent creative stuff from those Elektron folks :)

  • Kaiser Hector ..... KAISER HECTOR .... <3 it

  • Dude also quite a few nods to "The Usual Suspects"

  • This is the most EPIC musical product ad EVER!!!!

Haters will hate, because they are jealous. Their opinions do not matter anyway.

This is f*cking awesome!!!!!! GAME CHANGER!!!!

  • Love how many heads this video has already gone over!

Its a bit of fun people. Thats the point.

And the Bladerunner jip earns extra points.. ;)

  • Great Great

  • What a crappy bloated budgeted ad. They should've focused on the production or given a proper demonstration video, not this garbage.

  • OMG! Brill! I'm getting the machine... But... Why is Hector so fucking awesome!?

  • Wow, I want to see the full length movie, PLEASE; this is much too good to be a promotional trailer!!! Hector, the hero with a smirk to die for, must needs be in it, he will be the next Rutger Hauer, BRILLIANT acting. Shades of Equilibrium, Blade Runner and Dark City. Aaaw, come on, get a budget and make it a movie! The best and most frustrating piece of advertising I've ever seen...

  • @Ladytigre55 I reply it's got the vangelis style soundtrack already.

  • @Ladytigre55 I agree, although wouldn't hector be the villain? Of course the movie couldn't really be about the octatrack, but it could make a cameo appearance. But the sci-fi setting is pretty good.

  • @Ladytigre55 Yes, and a bit of Jacob's Ladder, too. This is as clever as music product advertisement can get.

  • uh....Boring?

  • Over 9,000 what?

  • Why has she got poo on her monitor I wonder?

  • Awesome, just as I'd expect.

  • wow...

Elektron is really going the wrong way...

  • Is that Tony Todd from Star Trek in this video?

  • the machine will cost OVER 9000

  • I want one!!! fuck Maschine or that N.I marketing crap. Elektron is the shit and i love their stuff..it just sounds sooo good once u get to dig really inside.

  • I don't know, after all being a small niche group, I rather appreciate the craziness of this add. doesn't tell me anything about the machine but hell its fun.

  • Hector is back..........yes ;)

  • Amazing video! Elektron wins again :)

  • anyone wanna buy an MDUW?

  • this is why the shits so expensive. they spend all their money on these ridiculous promotional videos.

funny other samplers have pitch shifted without stretching AGES ago. old, new tech.

wow, 95% shitty story 5% music.

so this sampler generates stupid stupid sci-fi rather than make music?

    elektron is dead to me.

  • @TRaddcliff why dont you get one, play with it and then make sweeping statements, then i may take your informed comments seriously cheers r

  • @haggisboyjock demoed it at Musikmesse, thoroughly unimpressed.

have owned elektron prods for years. wouldn't post wihtout reason.

you should reconsider making sweeping statements yourself.

  • @TRaddcliff im glad you know a product inside out in a matter of hours

  • Cool

  • want.

  • Its over 9000!!!

  • wow.

  • *HEAD EXPLODES*

  • what a great, great trailor ! can't beleive - this is breathtaking :-)

best, olli / sounds of revolution

  • Comment removed

  • haha wtf Richard turned actor? nice job though, who's the hostage ?

  • this may be the coolest promotion video ever made in history!

  • this may be the coolest promotion video ever made !!

  • Hector is back!

Just awesome! You just make the best promotion videos! The beginning reminds me a lot of David Finchers Seven. I can see some Blade Runner influences as well.

    Cheers

    Dennis
