its all done by water pressure and gravity. you make the object heavy enough to sink but light enough to float in high pressure. the high pressure makes the water more dense than the object. causing the object to float. to make it simple, the more pressure, the faster it rises. I made 2 or 3 of these in school. its not even close to magic.
