UNITA would've been what black cops were in South Africa, a tool for the Boers to keep the black population in line for them. Whatever they went through, they had the means to keep trying for 15 years. Cuba gave Apartheid A crushing blow that severely weakened the regime. Why do you think the National Party capitulated so quickly afterwards?

When the CIA came up with information about the Communist MPLA trying to vote them self's in to power we were not happy as this would spread to neighbouring countries. This did not sit right with S.A. So we invaded Angola to stop Communism and Marxism IN 1975. Because of it being illegal by the united nations scripted we only sent 3000 SADF troops in to fight MPLA. Our standing army was back home. Again, Cuba never crushed Apartheid!

Actually Fidel Castro is not mixed. His parents emmigrated from Spain to Cuba. But sure a lot of Cubans have roots in Africa. Though this had nothing to do with race. It was international solidarity, socialist solidarity! They have shown solidarity to poor nations across the world... Not just Latin America and Africa. A lot of people dont understand this selfless action by the Cubans, and that is because they dont understand socialism.

@SummertimeOne The Castro family was of the lower upper land holding class. Castro could have lived in comfort and wealth but he lead a revolution and was subjected to many assassination attempts.

Che was from the middle class of Argentina. He could have lived a comfortable life as a Doctor to the middle Class but he too took part in the Cuban Revolution and gave his life in support of Latin American revolution.

@SummertimeOne While Fidel Castro's father was a Spaniard, his mother was not. She was a cuban with a mixed racial background. In fact Fidel Castro's maternal grandmother was a mullata.

@Harvey6972 The father was Galician/Spaniard, yes, and the mother was born in Cuba but the family was originally from the Canary Islands (Spain). He's not mixed. And Che was born in Argentina but he was of Spanish and Irish decent.

In Fact Castro's grandmother (on his mother side was a Mullatta) meaning half European and half African. Dude check your facts. Depend on primary resources not secondary ones. A fidel castro quote " My father was a Spanish gentleman but my mother was a mestizo"

He behaves like a "gallego", talks like one, disposition, character--igulaito que nosotros--just like us!
