There's more Alliance than Horde, but the Horde has more skill than the Alliance. Some Horde servers have too little Horde, and some Alliance have too many skilled Horde players. Everything is fine. ;)

I just know that when I took my break, there were more alliance than horde. I'm assuming not too much has changed.

Alliance still has some good players. Just not as many as horde. Alliance seem to progress in PvE much quicker (again when I still played) and horde played more PvP.

Voidim, Niar, Invasion, Kenion, Krymu, Loke are just some of the alliance players I can think off the top of my head.

Maydie, maybe, he was very well geared but he always had a paladin healing him.

The humans didn't betray them, lord garithos did, who wasn't even elected by the leaders of the alliance, just took power in all the chaos.

Also the hight elves (the ones that became later blood elves, since the current high elves stayed loyal to their human allies) left the alliance on their own because they wanted to kill the orcs after warcraft 2 rather then feed them.

The onces that are high elves were the onces that stayed in human lands and stayed loyal to them.

Actually humans have elected mayors, magistrates and the nobles of stormwind have a parliament with their king that is why King Varian's powers are limited for he shares his powers as leader and delegates them with the nobles. So do they have democracy? Yes, in the local township level, do they on the upper echelons of power thats debatable but do we as humans have true democracy in the real world? Hardly. What we have in the alliance is a mixed system of governments.

The Draenei were nearly wiped out by the Orcish Horde on Draenor. Makes more sense for the Draenei to be on the Alliance. The Blood elves left the Alliance in Warcraft 3, But some High Elves still exist within the Alliance. Blood elves and high elves look alike, But Blood Elves are much paler, and have glowing green eyes, due to absorbing fel energies and such. And Blizzard probably wanted to give the Horde a race that wasn't so primitive.

The alliance possesses the best and by far superior technology. This does not mean the horde lacks technology its just their far behind. The alliance have the ingenious gnomes, the militant dwarves, the clever humans, the insightful draenei and each race provides levels of tech far beyond the grasp of the horde. From space tech that the draenei bring and tanks of the dwarves, fighter jets and helicopters of the gnomes you can't compete.

Humans have actually never really been that good in engineering. Yeah the gnomes and dwarves are the main suppliers of technology to the alliance, but the horde has goblins. And honestly flying airships are a lot more technologically advance than floating sea ships. The draenei's space tech doesn't necessarily have to do with physical technology, a lot of it is insanely powerful magic that is impressive in a magical sense, but doesn't have much technology behind it (depending on how youdefineit)

Have you looked at the Skybreaker airship in Icecrown? It flies not on the reliance of helium air that can be punctured but by helicopter propulsion. Yes, the majority of humans aren't as great as dwarfs let alone gnomes but human cities are a feat of engineering. Engineering isn't simply mechanical but functional, an engineer can create a spaceship or a city each are a model and testament to their genius. While the Horde has goblins, their tech, like their race is unreliable at best...

Human cities certainly have a lot of beauty but they are still very simply made, using many simple construction methods and designs. I don't see how the Horde cities are so technologically inferior. Both seem the same in different ways, it's really more of a difference in style. I suppose the orcs have a more "primitive" style to their architecture, but as far as function goes it's not so different from the humans.
