@SEJKay Very true. Jack was a very narcissistic character back at that time. He was also raised to believe that because he was a Deveraux that he could have whatever and whomever he wanted and when he met Kayla he thought that he could have her but by the time he'd come to Salem she was already in love with Steve but Jack's ego wouldn't let him accept it and walk away like a normal human being. But as you said behind the scenes later Steve was feeding that behavior by "giving" Kayla to Jack.
