  • i7 3770k Rocks!!

  • guy has a sexy accent. where is he from?

  • press "1", laugh... :-)

  • What will be the alternative for my i3 2100 in Ivy Bridge??

  • @nhs2008NC i3 is gay. Go for AMD, Intel are a bunch of liars who just want your money.

  • @SwiftHDX I used to think the same, till I got me i3 2100, It blew away my prev. AMD Phenom II X4 B55!! It performs wayyy better although a little hotter, than the Phenom II OC'ed to like 3.7 ghz!

  • @nhs2008NC You can get a quad core Bulldozer for that price... money wasted.

  • @SwiftHDX This thing outperforms 8120 FX! And I got it for just 5800!

  • @nhs2008NC Who's talking about the 8120 FX? I'm talking about the 970!

  • @SwiftHDX What's 970?? Are you talking about the Phenom II X4 970 BE??

Then it's NOT BullDozer! I know it performs better than i3 like 4 times out 5 but with this combo I have much better upgrade options, Phenom II is now dead. I still have the Phenom II sticker on my Cabinet though!

  • @nhs2008NC Phenom ii are the best processors for budget gaming.

  • @SwiftHDX Yeah, I had one see my vids, you will see. I UPGRADED to Sandy Bridge and I can see a HUGE performance increase already!

  • @nhs2008NC Dude, I'm running an AMD based system right now, your i3 dual core INTEL CPU can't even match the performance of my AMD 970 BE quad core CPU.

  • @SwiftHDX I never said my i3 is superior to Phenom II X4 970 BE But it is fairly neck-to-neck with it and it has hyper-threading as well as support for newer instructuion sets cost a whole lot less and has a lower TPD and performs GREAT at stock. Also it has on-board GPU which is very capable (can play CRISIS!)

So that as well as better mobo make it perform greater than AMD did for me.

  • @nhs2008NC Plays Crysis at an unplayable framerate* -.-

If you want a cheap processor with an onboard GPU which can play BF3 at a playable framerate at low settings then get an AMD APU. Intel sucks.

  • @SwiftHDX Actually it plays Crysis at a fairly decent rate, and AMD APU are no good apart from that feature. I have a 5770 HD lets me play any game I want at highest settings at my 768p res. I think i3 2100 is nearly the same price as the AMD APU's but has better performance apart from Graphics. I know Intel are bullies but their cheapest cpu beats AMDs 6/8 cores that came 6-8 months after it!!

  • @nhs2008NC I also have a HD 5770, it's horrible. Intel are only good for stealing money. I mean, honestly, is a processor worth £1000 when you can get a similarly performing processor for 5x less?

  • @SwiftHDX you pay for the performance. and, an itntel $1000 processor will SHIT ALL OVER any AMD processor, save for some of its server processors. BTW, intels i5 2500k (4 cores, no hyperthreading) is about on par with amds BRAND NEW 8 core FX processor , while costing less. and the i5 3570k (4 core, no hyperthreading) will be %20 faster than the 2500k, at about the same price. and when you get to that enthusiast $1000 cpu level, thats to be expected.

  • @callmesmorz (CONT.) Like, the average NBA player makes MILLIONS. But, hes not MILLIONS of times better than a college basketball player, who makes nothing off of their sport. the processor pricing is the same thing. once you reach a certain level, VERY FEW processors will have more processing power than, say an i7 2600k, so you pay that premium to get that tiny extra performance.

  • @callmesmorz The i7 3960x is slightly better than the 1100t (everyone knows that), but for that price you can get a whole AMD gaming rig with a decent graphics card (or 2). Unless you're a rich kid who steals money from his mommy and daddy then you aren't getting an enthusiast $1000 CPU. Intel is good but the prices are terrible. The only decent priced Intel is the i5 2500k and i7 2500k. The only difference between 2500k, 2600k and 2700k is 100Mhz, and you're paying £80 more for each 'upgrade'.

  • @SwiftHDX i realize that. but the enthusiast purchasurs arent kids. theyre usually rich people, or people who work off of their computer. and i found two websites that show that the 3960x is not just "slightly better.". it also shows that the i7 2700k is faster than the 1100t. if you want those links, i can PM them to you.

  • @callmesmorz I know that they're faster but the performance you get for the price of the 1100t (which is still dropping) is amazing.

  • @SwiftHDX dont think so. ahaha.

  • @Oslokiddo ORLY? For £20 more you can get a quad core black edition AMD processor -.-

  • @nhs2008NC I would wait until release and read the fine print on the chips, they might be a backwards compatible socket but have dependencies your board doesn't have, which is a common trick they do.

  • @Faelsun Means Z68 will lack some features??

  • @nhs2008NC not sure I do know this I have a M5A 78L-M board sitting in my closet for a cheap at home comp project for one of my broke friends, it will technically hold a bulldozer chip, but oh too bad theres not a bulldozer with low enough wattage to work in the thing, not to mention the Bios update, which may or may not work depending on the board from what I hear. Then theres the connectors, it might be a Sandy bridge, but the connection assembly might be different, then your also fucked.

  • @Faelsun Those are two different points I was making btw I know the M5A is not a sandy bridge before you chime in.

  • @Faelsun Actually, I bought this board very recently (25th Jan) It's MSI Z68A-GD65 G3 which fully supports Ivy Bridge! So no probs there. :)

  • Might be a good time when these chips are released to upgrade from my first gen Core i5 1156 chipset.

  • I bet your Indian..

  • what are the disadavantages?

  • I love his voice ;) But good video!!!

  • @iDeaelectronic I don't get it...You said 'I love his voice ;)' and then 'BUT good video!!!' ??? Usually people start with 'but' if they have badmouthed the concerned in prior sentence.

  • I luv chips... :3

  • will they release the new ivy bridge i7s for mobile processors if so when will that be?

  • They're called periods.

  • i think its better to go with a sandy bridge chip as it is cheaper than the ivy bridge coz its been out for a while already and there is not much performance gain in a desktop so i feel that it is not worth it to upgrade for the average user

  • worth waiting for the imac's to update?

  • @XC0MB4TXEV0LV3D: If update frequency is to be looked upon iMac's are due for a upgrade soon but if apple decides to go with these new Ivy chips it might be almost March / April 2012 unless intel ships these chips early to apple.

  • @geekyranjit I hope so waiting those extra couple of months is well worth it if they do.

  • @geekyranjit Is this worth waiting for it to be in Samsung Series 7 chronos?

  • It's very disappointing that Intel supports SOPA. This is an exceeding undemocratic bill. Intel should be ashamed.

  • so Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 and Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3-B3 will support ivy bridge?

  • @buzz9961 yup

  • @geekyranjit so the socket is 1155?so that mean i can buy now sandy bridge and upgrade later to ivy bridge :D

  • @buzz9961: Yes you can use the current sandybridge chip 1155 socket and upgrade to Ivy later on if you would like.

  • gigabyte motherboards z68 To support PCI Express 3.0 is this necessary to upgrade ivy bridge????????plz reply

  • @shafishaheer212: As far as I recall with the BIOS update many of the Z68 boards would get the PCI Express 3.0 functionality but please check with gigabyte for your specific model.

  • @geekyranjit my board is G1.Sniper 2 in say spec >Expansion Slots>(All PCI Express x16 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)

    * To support PCI Express 3.0, you must install an Intel 22nm CPU.can 2600k can support pcl 3.0 card?

  • @shafishaheer212 dude dont even worry about pci-e 3.0 as it wont give you much of a performance increase anyway.

  • @shafishaheer212 For example overclock. net/t/1188376/hardwarecanucks-hd-7970-pci-e-3-0-vs-pci-e-2-0-comparison

  • THANK YOU COME AGAIN!

  • hi ranjit, could u plz explain about pcl 3.0 slots in lga 1155 z68 chipset can it support dual pcl 3.0 card?

  • Great info! Thank you

  • Im going to buy the i5 3570k! it's gonna be awesome for gaming!

  • @DJVenuspect go for g1.sniper 2 mb and card gtx580 or 560ti

  • @shafishaheer212 no, G.Skill 8gb ripjawsX ddr3 1333mhz kit and HD6950 :)

  • I'm buying the i5 3750k, gonna be awesome for gaming!!! :D

  • Will the MacBook pro be updated with the Ivy Bridge? I still don't understand what it does but it sounds cool.

  • @svamayo98: Yes the upcoming 2012 models of MBP that will be launched in the next couple of month should be using the Ivybridge parts and thus you should get a better battery life.

  • Just 8-10% speed boost? That's pretty weak. How much will thee new chips improve battery life on ultrabooks?

  • I like it.....nais info.

  • i will definitely see you in your next video :)

  • I want to upgrade my cpu and mobo. But i dont know what i should do :(

Should I wait for Ivy Bridge release or buy a Sandy bridge (2500K) now?

    Top priority is gaming.

    Current specs: Q6600 @ 3.2, Kingston Hyperx 4GB RAM, EVGA GTX 560TI.

My guts tell me to wait for IB, but i want some new hardware pretty bad

  • @PyroMania61 If you can wait, wait.

  • @MrGeozeph

yeah, it's gonna be hard but i hope it's gonna pay off

  • @PyroMania61 Wait for Ivy Bridge. Core i7 3770K is almost the same price as 2600k. And also u can use a P67 or Z68 mobo if you have one. The Ivy Bridge lineup also supports 4k resolution and probably will have a low TDP due to the smaller Die size 22nm (around 77 TDP, which is indeed better than the SB). Btw you've a got a decent graphic card which will make a good combo. A few months away until it gets released.

  • any idea on the starting price? how many model will they have?

  • @TheArea510: Intel has not yet mentioned details about what will be the retail SKU, but expect them to be priced very similar to current Sandy bridge processors.

  • It will be at least 20 percent faster and that is with out the dd4 ram

  • @geekyranjit when will come out?If its march or January or whatever i go like

    ----!!!!!!

  • @MrMicr0phonePro: Looks like around March / April time frame.

  • @geekyranjit en(.)wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Ivy_Bridge_(microarchitecture) (remove brackets with the dots in between, don't remove brackets from microarchitecture!)

  • Comment removed

  • tell me about wht is the new processor is the 2011 pin or haswell or ivy bridge

  • @lords83: The Ivy bridge that is going to be launched soon first quarter of 2012 will be on 1155 pin, the 2011 pin in the Sandy bridge E processor check this video for more info on that /watch?v=XUbmqwsW9gA

  • i heared they werent going to be 1155?? anyone knows FOR SURE?

  • Your accent is awesome

  • They've finally been released :D

  • @TheeeSquirrel: No you are mistaken the just released new intel chip is Sandy Bridge-E chip (Extreem edition chip) that is a 6 core chip supporting quad channel DDR3 memory and based on the current Sandy Bridge Architecture not on the Ivy Bridge architecture that is being discussed in this video.

  • @geekyranjit oh haha woops. only really read the socket 2011 part :P

  • @geekyranjit Enthusiast not extreme* xP

  • 2:20 Did he say 60% more Grafik performance or 16%?

  • @Mrsamsaara: It's 60%

  • @geekyranjit I do not think that's correct.

It was said to be 20-30% faster than the current sandy bridge.

  • @Mrsamsaara: The 60% boost is expected to be for the IGP the integrated graphic processor unit compared to what we current have with Sandybridge processor overall in raw CPU performance it would be just about 6 - 8% more than Sandybridge hence this is the reason that this ivybridge would be ideal for laptops or thin and light notebooks where it can have good graphic performance even without a dedicated graphic card from the like of nvidia or ATI.

  • @geekyranjit Do you think it´s worth waiting for Ivy, if you need to buy a new Prozessor+ Mainboard.

Because I´d like to change to I7.

  • @Mrsamsaara: For a desktop Ivy bridge is not going to make a huge impact in raw performance compared to Sandybridge unless you plan to use the integrated GPU exclusively so decide if you can wait or else Sandybridge i7 are pretty powerful chips.

But if its a laptop or a notebook Ivy makes sense coz of the extended battery life and better graphic as many notebooks use integrated graphics.

  • @geekyranjit Well, I consider buying either Intel 5 2500k, Intel 7 2600k or Ivy Bridge.

Since the difference in performance between I7 and I5 is only about 2-3%.

    So basically it's I5 vs I7.

Which one is the better choice?

I ask you because i really appreciate your knowledge by the way :3

  • @Mrsamsaara: Its not like that i7 has hyper-threading which can be useful in certain applications I made another video about i5 vs i7 please see that /watch?v=mJ3yUin8d9E

  • *made on a mac btw*

  • Faster than sandy bridge, but with less power consumption, Intel is doing great right now. I just hope AMD can comeback from faildozer, just because competition = good for customers.

  • @SoCalDude805: Very true I was also hoping to build a test rig on AMD Bulldozer but I have dropped that plan seeing the mediocre performance and crazy power usage via the new AMD chip, I do hope they come back healthy competition is good for everyone!

  • Thanks

  • hi, great introduction. yap, its my first sight of view about Ivy Bridge.

I would like to ask you, do you think I should buy the new Macbook pro which is just released yesterday with some minor update about the speed and stuff. Or should I wait for 5-6 more months for this Ivy Bridge chip? Do you think its gonna be a HUGE improvement? and does it worth the waiting?

    Thanks in advance.

  • @BatistaR0X: You can go with the new MBP that was just released, the Ivy Bridge would give a major boost to thin and light notebooks like Macbook Air, the MBP can already accommodate a quad core processor but MBA are stuck with dual-core with Ivy bridge MBA might also get quad core processor and better battery life...... I agree next years MBP that would use the Ivy Bridge should also get a better battery life.

  • @geekyranjit I see... how about other aspects? For eg. the camera, price and design etc? Do you think next year's MBP is gonna be a complete overall redesign? btw thanks for your precise advises :)

  • @BatistaR0X wait for Ivy Bridge.. man i in the same boat as you.. i need to buy a new MBP but ivy is going rock plus more than likely it will be totally redesign to be lighter computer and have USB 3.0 and a bunch of other massive upgrades besides the chip

  • @ultraret Oh is it?! I didn't google about other stuff but just the redesign rumors.. how reliable is all the other upgrades? Not to forget Apple likes to slowly adding updates, one shot adding all new feature will be less likely to happen as what Apple always did ... Anyway thanks man, after seen what you wrote I think I am just gonna wait .. but half year is undeniably a loooong way to go ...

  • Isn't the new ivy bridge doing to be SOCKET 2011?

  • @GigatronCBC: Ivy bridge is going to be socket 1155, the socket 2011 is for the Sandybridge-e (extreme edition) those 6 core processors that are due to be launched soon.

  • Hi do you think ivy bridge chips would be a good upgrade from a core i7 930 or should I wait for Haswell. Thanks.

  • @sgs2008: If you feel your i7 is slowing you down, then you can go with Ivy but do not expect it to wow you moving from i7 930 to a i7 based on Ivy bridge chip, in raw performance it would be approx 15-18% faster and the ivy chip should run cooler, unless intel plans to release significantly high clocked i7 chips with Ivy.

  • @geekyranjit Ok thanks for the advice

  • @geekyranjit

What power saving percentage can we expect to see approximately from sandy bridge i7 vs ivy i7s.

  • indian? you got a sub :)

  • Very well done

  • @Blazen22x: Thanks

  • Does it come with a free slurpee?

  • Good Man.

  • good i can easily pick ur points

  • Thanks Ranjit good info

  • @ArmaniDemon: Yes for the desktop computer if you already own the Sandybridge based processor upgrading to Ivy Bridge does not make sense....... the devices that will get the best boost with Ivy Bridge are light laptops & notebooks.

  • very helpfull thanks man

  • Sorry but i do not have much knowlledge in chips n all

But why are transistors required in chips?

And what is 22nm? The size of the chip??

    or wht?

  • Kindly Reply

  • @blackspeed97: Transistors are the building blocks of the processors in simple terms the more the transistors count the more powerful the chips and more stuff it can do and by reducing the size from say 32nm to 22nn they can pack in more transistors on the chip and by reducing the size it helps in reducing the power consumption and heat, the Moore's Law says transistors count doubles every 2 years...... modern processors like Sandybrige have over 1 billion transistors.

  • can't wait :D

  • Thanks man :) .. all ur videos are very much Helpfull :) ... like em all :) ...

  • @sye005: thanks Sye
