After seeing that, I watched this video and my mind was kind of turned off to possible purposeful uses. I suppose with a few modifications, this could be used in search and rescue.

the reason why it can swim is because it can push against the water molecules. in space there are no molecules to push against (this is why there isn't any sound) so the thing would be just squirming around in one place in the middle of a vacuum. It would need rocket thrusters to space worthy.

Most likely it's used for underwater research and navigating earthquake disaster areas, earthquakes being something I hear that Japan's often plagued with. @r3b3l1n Srsly? You can't think of any use for this? It's multi terrain, so any places too hostile for humans is open to it. To me it sounds like a self-monitoring search robot for earthquakes and maybe oil spills and nuclear war zones. If it's eventually shrunk enough, it can even investigate the human body through blood vessels.It can possibly be used for deep jungle explorations, prolonged monitoring of deep sea creatures, or as even as a mobile spy camera disguised as thin vine, I don't know
