Hi ld1774, I love Mother-Father by SP the range alone in his voice is amazing. Deen does a very good job singing it as well and then caine hitting the high notes at the end. Lets face it that song belongs to Perry though. Oh I do without a doubt believe the new album is going to happen and I believe one day,year,decade, Perry will sing with journey again even if its for one last time. Keep your fingers crossed!!!
No one could ever say anything bad enough to ruin a Steve Perry video. I am not obsessed with Steve Perry but I do love watching and listening to his videos. This is one of my favorites. I agree some of his live versions are better than the original. Mother Father Houston Live, perfect example. I hope to see Steve Perry perform again soon, Just don't think its really going to happen. They were the biggest band in the world in their time. The musicianship is top notch. Randy Jackson is a beast on bass and background vocals. Mike Baird the drummer on this tour is one of the best in the business. You can tell on this video how tight the band is. Definitly one of the best lineups Journey ever had.

I heard a teen girl on Youtube Joanna Lauren singing Journey songs and a few others and (for me) her singing of these songs helps fill a small gap! She takes requests sooooo I am requesting a couple more of these - You might enjoy her singing too! Also cool was Randy from American Idol who plays quitar for Journey!!!
While you cannot replace Steve Perry, Arnel Pineda does do a good job of recreating the old songs. If you close your eyes he is almost as good. Most people go to the shows to hear the songs as they sound on their cds/iPod. In that respect, Journey may be better off now. What if Steve could not hit the old notes? People would be disappointed. I would love to hear Steve do some new stuff, or hear from him period.

To those who say Steve cannot do it anymore because his voice isnt like it was when he was 30 how do you know? I saw Three Dog NIght and American this year and they sound just as good!!! Age has nothing to do with it!!!
Perry did not quit because the band members tried to force him to take surgery. Steve had degenerative hip disease which NEEDED surgery. He took several years to heal and recooperate. The other members wanted him to come back to work but Steve thought he was never ready and decided to call quits while he was on top of his game. Get your shit straight.
Actually they either told him to get surgery for his hip problem so they could tour or they were going to replace him which happened. Steve was pissed for them trying to rush him into making a decision so he pretty much told them no...Perry was pissed that they replaced him on the band. He didn't want them to do that and tarnish the band's legacy...no they weren't forcing him to get surgery right away, but they pretty much said surgery, which he did need or they were moving forward without him.
Everyone is saying that he's not good anymore, but I'm pretty sure he is doing some solo stuff. Also he left cuz the band was trying to force him to take some surgery. He decided he wasn't ready, and he quit the band. May have been a dumb move, but valid none the less.

This is an excellent performance esp the ending. I believe it was filmed in Atl at the old Omni and I was at one of the two shows they played there back in 86 two nights after seeing them play in Columbia SC.

Hi cruzandmarcella, I heard he does not read any of this. I would love to think that he peeks at them every once in a-while. I read somewhere that he has good friends in groups that have told him to get back out there because alot of his fans want to hear him again. It looks like he took their advice because hes working on his new album and I cant wait!!!

O K A Y ! For the life of me I can't understand why the people who do not think Steve still "has it" even listen to him. If you are a Steve Perry fan...you are a Steve Perry fan. If you are not, then it's simple..just don't listen.
Please leave this site for the ones of us who "DO" love him. He may or may not reach the hight notes anymore but his new stuff will still be good of that I am sure...it's more than reaching high notes in his music. It's the words .Try and listen

Steve is coming out of retirement baby and I cant wait for his new album. I know the songs will be beautiful because he says he only writes when he has something to say. I am sure after 13 years he has plenty to say in his new songs. Yes jade this is one of my favorites too!!!

HE HIMSELF EVEN ADMITTED that with "what was i thinking".. ? don't forget now there is 2 others on that band wagon "no pun intended". if you look at photos of steve the few years before he left journey, its clear he wasn't happy... i believe that for some reason they thought they needed a different direction as far music goes, most artist after success like to exsplore other avenues, too bad it ended up on a dead end street i love steve dearly always will, but like you said D/ASS MOVE C

They were the biggest band in the world in their time. The musicianship is top notch. Randy Jackson is a beast on bass and background vocals. Mike Baird the drummer on this tour is one of the best in the business. You can tell on this video how tight the band is. Definitly one of the best lineups Journey ever had.

Don't think my comment posted sooooo here goes again! Agree with you both! Miss his voice but it's over! I heard a teen girl on Youtube Joanna Lauren singing Journey songs and a few others and (for me) her singing of these songs helps fill a small gap! She takes requests sooooo I am requesting a couple more of these - You might enjoy her singing too! Also cool was Randy from American Idol who plays quitar for Journey!!!

While you cannot replace Steve Perry, Arnel Pineda does do a good job of recreating the old songs. If you close your eyes he is almost as good. Most people go to the shows to hear the songs as they sound on their cds/iPod. In that respect, Journey may be better off now. What if Steve could not hit the old notes? People would be disappointed. I would love to hear Steve do some new stuff, or hear from him period.

Perry did not quit because the band members tried to force him to take surgery. Steve had degenerative hip disease which NEEDED surgery. He took several years to heal and recooperate. The other members wanted him to come back to work but Steve thought he was never ready and decided to call quits while he was on top of his game. Get your shit straight.

Actually they either told him to get surgery for his hip problem so they could tour or they were going to replace him which happened. Steve was pissed for them trying to rush him into making a decision so he pretty much told them no...Perry was pissed that they replaced him on the band. He didn't want them to do that and tarnish the band's legacy...no they weren't forcing him to get surgery right away, but they pretty much said surgery, which he did need or they were moving forward without him.

Everyone is saying that he's not good anymore, but I'm pretty sure he is doing some solo stuff. Also he left cuz the band was trying to force him to take some surgery. He decided he wasn't ready, and he quit the band. May have been a dumb move, but valid none the less.

This is an excellent performance esp the ending. I believe it was filmed in Atl at the old Omni and I was at one of the two shows they played there back in 86 two nights after seeing them play in Columbia SC.
