  • This certainly doesn't sound bad, but I definitely prefer the Marvin Gaye version, primarily due to more brilliant production. The bassline is great, regardless, but it was used in such a haunting manner in the Gaye version. And that overall haunting feel wins the song over for me. Nonetheless, great composition.

  • This bass line is sick!!! Man!!!

  • and to think mr jamerson did all this with one finger he called the HOOK!

  • @mrbrownbear3 the hook ....lol

  • love jamersons bass break on reach out i'll be there ......I also love his bass line on I cant get next to you .........or is that Babbit ?...........anyone knows for sure let me know

  • It's very difficult to choose a "best" Jamerson. He was truly the man. I'm workin on What's Goin On bassline - a masterpiece. Bernadette, by the Four Tops is fabulous, and don't forget Darling Dear by the Jackson 5. Can't make up my mind.

  • This is the first version of this song that was released. The Marvin Gaye version was recorded first, but received a lukewarm response from Motown. Producer Norman Whitfield decided to record & release this version, & its success paved the way for Gaye's version. Motown gave in & the rest is history...my favorite version. Jamerson was the man.

  • I've always thought that this was one of Jamerson's best all-time performances. Whenever it comes over the car radio, I crank up the bass just like you did for this video.

  • I want to see Disney's DTV version of that song please.
