I sat on a jury a few years ago and heard a case where a man assaulted his classmate on the school ground. His defense was that he listened to Rush Limbaugh with his father and began a hateful life filled with anger. We deliberated for 2 days trying to decide his guilt or innocence. He was found guilty and is serving 10 years. Rush Limbaugh was not there to defend him, and had he been there, he would have been found guilty in 5 minutes.

That's known as the legislative process, and it has been conducted almost the exact same way since the First Continental Congress (look it up if you don't know what that is). It isn't super efficient, it isn't perfect, but you know what? It isn't *meant* to be. A bill has to jump through a slew of hoops before it becomes a law. It's read, analyzed and debated for months before (IF) it even reaches the president's desk, and then the president can veto it.
