@impurekind i agree and not to mention the original star fox has a way better soundtrack then star fox 64 to me the music of star fox 64 isnt as epic and dense as the original star fox soundtrack
I wish there were better players for this game on youtube. I cant stand watching players who arent experts playing because they get me less impressed by the way the play. Good video though.
Man, this is one of my favorite series. But I'm slightly disappointed at Nintendo for not putting this on the Wii's Virtual Console but only put the N64 one on it. I want to know why they're having problems re-releasing this one.
@TechnoDevotee Four times the processing power the N64 has over the Super Nintendo; it should be expected of Star Fox 64 to have better graphics and possibly be better than the original. What's your point?
I used to have this game and never got to the ending. I traded it to Game & Play and used the credit to get Super Mario All Stars and finally play some of the "lost" levels that was only available in Japan.
I never liked the N64 versions of Star Fox compared to the SNES. I think the N64 ones look just plain cheap and crappy. Like they were just trying to make money with no effort put into the game itself. A game is not better just because it's more powerful. SNES starfox is awesome.
@x7sx5 Nostalgia ain't all it's cracked up to be, eh? I've played both versions back in the day, and the N64 version was far from just "more powerful". The characters had voices, there were more of them, the levels were just plain better, and the story itself was more fleshed-out (for a video game, that is). Not only that, but Star Fox 64 was true 3D, using fully-rendered and textured models and landscapes where appropriate.
@GoodwoodAlpha Well...yeah, man. Isn't that what you would expect from a good sequel?
Let's not knock this game for the classic it is, though. Everything about this game is top notch. Great soundtrack, top notch level design, memorable characters, and some excellent boss fights.
Random: this is a good game to play back-to-back with Axelay.
@spideymayne Nostalgia just ain't what it used to be, eh? Yeah, I liked the original Star Fox (even if I was never very good at it) but Star Fox 64 was just better in every respect, thanks to the progression of technology. Part of that reason it's better, IMHO, is that instead of trying to make the 64-bit version into a sequel, they remade the original, making the whole story better in the process.
Of course, Star Fox was never that deep to begin with... ;-)
Back then graphics like this were considered absolutely amazing, jawdropping.
Even today this classic is still fun to play. IMO, none of the other Starfox's released to date beat the original SNES games (Starfox and the unreleased Starfox 2).
They don't make games awesome like this anymore ^_^
I must admit i never beat route 3. The first route was usually a piece of cake, the second took some practice. But i never made it past Blade Barrier. Nonetheless, it's a grat game and worth playing.
I played this game when I was about 9 years old. 16 years later the game is still hard! Finished it though...

Starfox 64 might have more polygons and textures and all... but so does Superman 64.
Does that make it the better game?
TechnoEstate 9 months ago
@TechnoEstate No, the fact that the gameplay is much better makes it the better game. You're bringing up something that is 100% irrelevant.

I listened to this whilst at work.
It's wonderful to have in the background. Bit of nostalgia, the occasional 'Bur bur bur wing damaged' from Falco. 'Twin bastard' once in a while.
Plus the music is simply great :)
Thanks a lot for the upload.

Your scores aren't something to expect from walkthrough like this.
I usually get 100% both level 1 and 2 and 99% and sometimes 100% on Level 3.

A killer whale?! In outer space?!!
What's with the freaky faces on some of those rocks?
Fortuna's got catchy music.
The Great Commander's cool. As a ship, not a robot.
But was that REALLY Andross or not?
Have you seen the Black Hole or the Warp Zone? The Warp zone's got a Slot Machine. |:)
