We are also of different origins. You can find the mestizos, the garifuna (black and west Indian native admixture), the Mayans, the Xinca, and nordic looking people (mostly of German descent but also of other countries) as well as your people of Spanish and Italian descent. You can find Asians and people of Lebanese descent as well. But what brings us all together is our love for this blessed land called Guatemala and being Guatemalan.
Guatemala is multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and multi-racial. Although, Spanish is the dominant language, there are also 20 something Mayan languages spoken here, plus xinca (native language of unknown family), garifuna (language of the carribbean), German, Italian, and English. Culturally, we have the Mayan ways of life, the garifuna ways of life, and the "ladino" or general Guatemalan ways of life.
@SuperRip7.I totally disagree on your comment. I have seen American tourists coming to GUATEMALA before and they r very humble. I even talked to a beautiful woman from the USA and she was very polite. So your comments dont make any sense. U have a totally negative mentality. GUATEMALA is unique with its cultures and people. The males are very proud of their roots and the females are very proud of their roots too.
GUATEMALA, THE KINGDOM OF THE MAYANS, THE GREATEST CIVILIZATION OF ALL TIMES..!
My opinions about this nation is this. Guatemala is a dense jungle place of wild species and painted people. It belongs to nobody but the ecosystem and rare visits by National Geographic. Everytime a person with white skin person comes here it's already mucked up. However the biggest concerns is American tourists. Those people are arrogant and act like big shots. A reality show is the ultimate insult. The Guatemalan males act like waiters and servants and the females like eye candy
such an amazing country! Went for a summer trip with my uncle last year and it was the most remarkable experience I have ever had. The people don't have much but they have so much more love than anyone you will meet in the U.S. They appreciate every little thing that they have in their lives

@vanhouten64 Sure you could visit this wonderful country with no problem if you do not speak Spanish, but if you learn few simple words your trip will be better they like to see a gringos trying to speak Spanish, if you decide to go there I hope you enjoy your trip>>>
