Oh my, thank you so much for this. I couldn't stop laughing because I have been there, done that. Glad to know I'm not alone. Beside being a artist with photography or paints you also have to be an artist with words.
PERFECT. This is one of the parts of being an artist that is so pretentious and ridiculous, yet we all do it. It is like an obnoxious, never ending game of LET'S PRETEND. :-0
In this superbly self-aware work by post-anarchist contemporary visual artist Joerg Colberg we are guided as babies exiting the womb into the nurturing arms of the mother towards a greater understanding and acceptance of our own humanity transcending the weltanschauung fed to us by the servile communicators of the modern art/media machine in a sublime burst of ecstatic illumination. Also, it's funny.
This is so real and so funny. You at least got SOMETHING reasonably sensible written by the end of it... I'm having an exhibition in 2 weeks time and my work is 'difficult' to put it mildly. Battled like crazy trying to get ANYTHING verbal written. As Francis Bacon said, 'If you can talk about it, why paint it?' The interview is already making me lose sleep! Any suggestions for interviews??? M
HAHA! So true!!!
You should write your artist statement about writing artist's statements with that four letter sentence, "who gives a fuck!"
