As for Tai Chi, maybe less ducking, more turning from the waist? From your comments I take it this isn't supposed to be how a Tai Chi person would fight, but rather how a Tai Chi person would be confused in a fight. Still, even confused, kicks and ducks tend to stay stable, and the center of gravity of the practitioner doesn't lean out so far. Turning subtly to redirect the energy of a passing blow, or grabbing and locking a joint, that's more Tai Chi, I think. Still, well done.
@UnknownFromHeaven both understandable points--I'm not being accusatory, just thinking aloud. And it's true, I can't speak to Capoeira, having just a little experience with the Yang style.
@matthewhester82 :) that is because the script was that the "tai chi" is adapting to the "strange and foreign style of capoeira" if you will watch closely the taiji is looked confused at first about the jinga steps :)) that was a scenario..if you didn't like it i promise you to make a better one.
@sylontuk i am a jeet kune do, kung fu taiji and ninjutsu practitioner, capoeira is just another interest,,my friend became really good with it because i ve always encouraged him to do so, i wish you well!
Dios míos ese hombre le va a dar un paro cuando se de cuenta que es el capoeira, suba la guardia, estire los pies y búsquese una academia. Todos los movimientos están mal hecho increible.
Many people forgets Capoeira is meant to use with a knife... Now, imagine these bizarre kicks with knives and headbutts, I wouldn't like to be against such a foe
Capoeira was developed by the Negro slaves and captives in Brazil. It was illegal for slaves to practice any form of self defense back then, so they disguised Capoeira as a ritual involving music, dance and acrobatics.
So much wasted motion/energy in capoeira. My opinion is that it's great for fitness and exhibition is exciting to watch but may be one of the least effective hand to hand combat methods, especially for multiple opponents. I've seen some super fit capoeira proponents on the street though i frankly wouldn't want to fight any of them. I'm more drawn to chi na and aikido when it comes to basic and highly effective self defence.
@ultrabluelake do not underestimate the style...through capoeira slaves had their freedom..and there are surtain mestres who can really fight and beat that way..
check lateef crowder...that guy is insanity...he can really beat someone that way..thats what i think at least...wish you well!
@UnknownFromHeaven Oh yes i'm sure you are right...after all, it's not all style, it's also the substance, intelligence, fitness, so many factors come into play. I don't have room here to type everyting i want to say about this and it's time for christmas dinner so i've got to go but yes i see the beauty and power in this art also and i've seen some surprising and effective techniques in it.
@ultrabluelake I could be wrong, but I think I heard once that Capoeira wasn't meant as a fighting style, but was adapted. I could be wrong though lol
@ultrabluelake ...... do not diss capoeira, i use it in my matches and in my shortfilms, and i have 34 win streak. capoeira may look useless but we have super human strong kicks as well as strikes, so face a master or professor and see if you win
@Sosalx i appreciate your comment that you remained yet objective since this video is based on a coreography and not a real fight, a true capoeira practitioner cannot be put in doubt. is a very efficient and misleading martial art!
If people have fun making short clips like this, that's cool, but why does everyone feel the need to list irrelevant buzz words in their description? Why must people always list JKD, Wing Chun and other things and never actually do any of it?
@UnknownFromHeaven, thanks for clarifying. I thought it was another youtube video that claimed it was a certain style. We've all seen too many of those, I'm sure. :-)
lol, this guy isn't very good at capoeira, very jerky and he never quite gets hit momentum mving as much as he should, there won't be power in those strikes, though it's easier to coreograph that way
@UnknownFromHeaven Cool, i can respect that, everyone is a work in progress, what counts is not so much where you're at as how far you've come. i can't talk crap about that since I can't do those things, I'm more based in Muay Thai and BJJ, i have a lot of respect for anyone who takes on the challenge of learning Capoeira, I wish you guys the best!

And concerning the trainings , of course we had continued, you can visit my profile and check some vids hopefully you will enjoy!
@UnknownFromHeaven You're misusing the term kung fu. Tai Chi cannot be kung fu. One may be kung fu in Tai Chi however. The term you're looking for is wushu, not kung fu. We are all ignorant.
@nexus1g you are ignorant, this shows how little you know about kung fu history, the term wushu was developed later being considered by many a soulless martial arts...i am talking about the forms of kung fu that were before of what you are talking about!
The Renegated Shaolin monks retreated to the south in the wu dang mountain and created another form of kung fu.
THE SHAOLINS USE TAI CHI KUNG FU TODAY because they combined NORTHEN WITH SOUTHERN KUNG FU and what is south is related to energy
@UnknownFromHeaven The term "kung fu" refers to excellence through training and practice in any discipline. One can be kung fu in blacksmithing while another person can be kung fu in wushu. "Wushu" is the word that means martial arts. It is not a type of "kung fu" as many believe, though one can be kung fu in wushu.
@nexus1g i undestand the concept of kung fu and that is the name of many styles such as shaolin fist, mantis, drunken fist , hun gar, etc etc...and the name is kung fu not wushu...wushu was developed later and indeed it means martial arts, but the concept appeared much later after original kung fu..please inform yourself especially about kung fu(documentaries) and tai chi chuan ..we can see in the chinese movies KUNG FU movies FLIX with shaolin vs wu dan cs tai chi , ninja..etc thats the proof
@UnknownFromHeaven You're not understanding. Kung fu has no specific tie with martial arts. The only definitive tie with martial arts it has was after export to the West in the 60's where the term was misunderstood and misused. Before that, kung fu was a description of a person's skill level in anything (not just martial arts, but tradeskills and pastimes too). Check out the etymology of the word for yourself before you continue to argue.
@nexus1g i understand that the term of kung fu may be applied to other domains..but as well it is and was in shaolin martial arts..and still are..i will not argue about it..WUSHU was introduced later..that is what you don't understand!
i am in the martial arts for 20 years so i am very informed..i wish you well!
@nexus1g The taoist were with long hair, and the hair reprezented the renegation they received since the shaolin were shaving the heads. Wushu has nothing to do with traditional ancient form of kung fu!
Wushu is based on Taolu - a combination of dance, acrobatic gymnastic and martial arts..thats not pure kung fu! and thats it.!
@TheNaturePK if you did watched it 7 minutes, than i hope you enjoyed it, thats why i am posting videos, first because i love what i do, and the second motive is to share my hobbies with the world..
@Cryogun i think the only drunken shit around here is you, a guy spending his time at a pc picking on clips on youtube, you have no life, no activities or involvement in something and you question me?
@Bagel156 this comment is just showing how little do you know about tai chi chuan style!
Tai chi chuan is southern kung fu invented by Zang san feng in the Wu Dang Mountain, this fighting style permited him to survive the woods from wild animals.
I met someone before ,he was from japan too, and said the same thing, but i will not loose my time with this topic...just for your own knowledge, here where i am i can beat many people in the style of tai chi chuan.
@UnknownFromHeaven sorry i thought it was a form of meditation mainly for older people. i do shotokan so i don't really know about tai chi, i probably shouldn't of posted that. p.s. what does it matter if its old?
@Bagel156 Tai chi chuan(grand ultimate fist) is a martial art and the art itself is related to Taoism , so yes, it contains meditation. every martial art can bring birth to morality ,education behind the skills.
The true purpose of all martial arts is not only to be a better martial artist, but also a better person.
I meant at the clip being old is that i agree that my skill back there was kind of silly, i was fooling around not being serious..but i have some samplers where i did took it serious
@Bagel156 oh, i forgot to tell you one more thing.
It is true that many old people practice tai chi chuan, they do that because tai chi chuan is very healthy and can increase and change your life special ways.
But i think all martial arts are healthy for the practicioners..it is important to treasure our skills and to maintain the health of mind and body, it is also important to engage in many sports.
@Bagel156 As Unknown said. Tai chi is a fighting style and an extremely effective one. one of the most effective of all in fact. The problem is that because of the fantastic health benefits of Tai chi and the fact that it was never a popular or widely known or practiced style, most people think it's just for health. The great health benefits from tai chi were a side effect, as with most gung-fu, of the training and not the reason for the training itself. It's only when doing the forms...
@Bagel156 that you practice slowly. Fighting tai chi is also practiced quickly for real life application. The slow part is done to time it with the chi flowing up from the dan tien after years of chi circulation training. This is where the great and deadly power of tai chi comes from. That's why moves can be done in a relaxed seemingly weak manner but have killing power. I have actually used such movements in real fights and it worked perfectly, even to my surprise. Regards...
@Gungfuman77 i agree, tai chi chuan has been integrated into many martial arts, and even other oriental concepts regarding the CHI vital force. it can be found in jeet kune do, capoeira and even in muay thai, the chi flowing with the slow exercises beyond the martial arts itself is pointing out the energy levels workout!
indeed, from my experience as well, tai chi is indeed the grand ultimate fist
the style not from this world as it is named by some.
@JaysonGamerMusic it was a script "when the tai chi fighter meets the capoerista its strange and new for him, the tai chi trying to learn and adapt to that style...check our main videos..this is pretty old!
More like JEET KUNE NOOOOOOT! Having said that I apologize, but I couldn´t resist...hey! great effort, and great idea, but all movements lack of strength, and some speed and agility. I know it takes decades of trainning...at least too. Keep it up and sorry again.
@AutomataAristotelico there is no need for that, besides the first clips are older,,you should look all of the video..and the second.we were fooling around..was nothing serious..check out my jeet kune do samplers.

tai chi is not a combat martial art idiots
amyyxrawrr 6 months ago
@amyyxrawrr tai chi chuan is a form of kung fu, and a martial art, your comment shows great ignorance about this style and taoism
UnknownFromHeaven 6 months ago 3
@UnknownFromHeaven You're misusing the term kung fu. Tai Chi cannot be kung fu. One may be kung fu in Tai Chi however. The term you're looking for is wushu, not kung fu. We are all ignorant.
nexus1g 3 months ago
@nexus1g you are ignorant, this shows how little you know about kung fu history, the term wushu was developed later being considered by many a soulless martial arts...i am talking about the forms of kung fu that were before of what you are talking about!
The Renegated Shaolin monks retreated to the south in the wu dang mountain and created another form of kung fu.
THE SHAOLINS USE TAI CHI KUNG FU TODAY because they combined NORTHEN WITH SOUTHERN KUNG FU and what is south is related to energy
UnknownFromHeaven 3 months ago
@UnknownFromHeaven The term "kung fu" refers to excellence through training and practice in any discipline. One can be kung fu in blacksmithing while another person can be kung fu in wushu. "Wushu" is the word that means martial arts. It is not a type of "kung fu" as many believe, though one can be kung fu in wushu.
nexus1g 2 months ago
@nexus1g i undestand the concept of kung fu and that is the name of many styles such as shaolin fist, mantis, drunken fist , hun gar, etc etc...and the name is kung fu not wushu...wushu was developed later and indeed it means martial arts, but the concept appeared much later after original kung fu..please inform yourself especially about kung fu(documentaries) and tai chi chuan ..we can see in the chinese movies KUNG FU movies FLIX with shaolin vs wu dan cs tai chi , ninja..etc thats the proof
UnknownFromHeaven 2 months ago
@UnknownFromHeaven You're not understanding. Kung fu has no specific tie with martial arts. The only definitive tie with martial arts it has was after export to the West in the 60's where the term was misunderstood and misused. Before that, kung fu was a description of a person's skill level in anything (not just martial arts, but tradeskills and pastimes too). Check out the etymology of the word for yourself before you continue to argue.
nexus1g 2 months ago
@nexus1g i understand that the term of kung fu may be applied to other domains..but as well it is and was in shaolin martial arts..and still are..i will not argue about it..WUSHU was introduced later..that is what you don't understand!
i am in the martial arts for 20 years so i am very informed..i wish you well!
UnknownFromHeaven 2 months ago
@nexus1g The taoist were with long hair, and the hair reprezented the renegation they received since the shaolin were shaving the heads. Wushu has nothing to do with traditional ancient form of kung fu!
Wushu is based on Taolu - a combination of dance, acrobatic gymnastic and martial arts..thats not pure kung fu! and thats it.!

Tai chi is not a fighting style
Bagel156 7 months ago
@Bagel156 this comment is just showing how little do you know about tai chi chuan style!
Tai chi chuan is southern kung fu invented by Zang san feng in the Wu Dang Mountain, this fighting style permited him to survive the woods from wild animals.
I met someone before ,he was from japan too, and said the same thing, but i will not loose my time with this topic...just for your own knowledge, here where i am i can beat many people in the style of tai chi chuan.
p.s. - this video is really OLD
UnknownFromHeaven 7 months ago
@UnknownFromHeaven sorry i thought it was a form of meditation mainly for older people. i do shotokan so i don't really know about tai chi, i probably shouldn't of posted that. p.s. what does it matter if its old?
Bagel156 7 months ago
@Bagel156 Tai chi chuan(grand ultimate fist) is a martial art and the art itself is related to Taoism , so yes, it contains meditation. every martial art can bring birth to morality ,education behind the skills.
The true purpose of all martial arts is not only to be a better martial artist, but also a better person.
I meant at the clip being old is that i agree that my skill back there was kind of silly, i was fooling around not being serious..but i have some samplers where i did took it serious
UnknownFromHeaven 7 months ago
@Bagel156 oh, i forgot to tell you one more thing.
It is true that many old people practice tai chi chuan, they do that because tai chi chuan is very healthy and can increase and change your life special ways.
But i think all martial arts are healthy for the practicioners..it is important to treasure our skills and to maintain the health of mind and body, it is also important to engage in many sports.
Best wishes!
UnknownFromHeaven 7 months ago
@Bagel156 that being said.
I wish you well!
UnknownFromHeaven 7 months ago
@Bagel156 As Unknown said. Tai chi is a fighting style and an extremely effective one. one of the most effective of all in fact. The problem is that because of the fantastic health benefits of Tai chi and the fact that it was never a popular or widely known or practiced style, most people think it's just for health. The great health benefits from tai chi were a side effect, as with most gung-fu, of the training and not the reason for the training itself. It's only when doing the forms...
Gungfuman77 3 months ago
@Bagel156 that you practice slowly. Fighting tai chi is also practiced quickly for real life application. The slow part is done to time it with the chi flowing up from the dan tien after years of chi circulation training. This is where the great and deadly power of tai chi comes from. That's why moves can be done in a relaxed seemingly weak manner but have killing power. I have actually used such movements in real fights and it worked perfectly, even to my surprise. Regards...
Gungfuman77 3 months ago
@Gungfuman77 i agree, tai chi chuan has been integrated into many martial arts, and even other oriental concepts regarding the CHI vital force. it can be found in jeet kune do, capoeira and even in muay thai, the chi flowing with the slow exercises beyond the martial arts itself is pointing out the energy levels workout!
indeed, from my experience as well, tai chi is indeed the grand ultimate fist
the style not from this world as it is named by some.
i wish you well!
