  • He doesn't seem to show the signs of having been an early 90's Raver.

  • Day V Lately's daughter is played by Tula Howarth, a girl in my year!

  • this dumb Yell company?? lumme they are so pathetic in this day and age. They won't remove a listing from their database from a company I was unfortunate to inherit the phone number

  • is it me, or does this bloke not say 'thank you' once in the entire ad? :\

  • Am I REALLY the only one who finds this ad heartwarming? Don't bother, I already know the answer. :(

  • @MJNSEIFER No - I do, I love the ad, love a bit of trance music, and don't agree with the massive negativity about it being an Ad campaign. Just seeing all the little record shops they've found, and him going around with his massive cans on, it's really nicely done.

  • i know the girl in this!!!!!!

  • Utter shite I just threw up in my underpants!

  • prefere the karl pilkington version

  • @bowlerama2 whats that?

  • @jamesclark64

    /watch?v=1dF5afLwSho

im actually offended you dont know karl pilkington :O

  • Basement of the Berwick Street M&VE at 0:39?

  • Good job the drug rehab programme worked for him and he as able to rebuild his life and recover his music collection through Yell.

  • Stupid ad.

  • I task anyone with finding that many record stores these days!

  • @kingrich742 They're not actually too rare. There's about 3 or 4 in Soho alone :)

  • @PaddyTV Mate, there's 3 or 4 in the North East! lol

  • he looks like hes got V.D LATLEY

  • Oi Matey..... Use google.

  • press 3 and 8 repeatedly for the day v ULTA MIX

  • oh ya , me name hehe.. it's Doh Z Bellened

  • mr matt collins, whats up with that dodgy northern accent We renenber bournemouth and youve still got that hat.

  • I love how everyone is saying "ooh, i remember this from 92" when in fact the mix was only released this year, hehe

  • "Ma name? of coarse.....Di k ed"

  • the advert maybe dodgy, but the song is great! it's been added it itunes!

  • Day V Bumgravy

  • love the orange hair :D

  • Yet another example of how we have all turned into morons over the past 30 years or so. Hartley will be rolling in his grave.

  • Comment removed

  • I've got to laugh at this, because with him wearing that hat, it's just what I picture Matt Cardell looking like in 10 years or more and can see him going round the record stores asking for one of his records

  • @b0xer0wner win

  • 0:19 and 0:24 is Flashback records where I occasionally shop.

  • To Day V Lately.. Should have gone to Specsavers..

  • @molecularmadness It's just an advertisement. LMFAO..

  • Comment removed

  • @Albear20 Nah, you're mistaken. Only thing he's playing now is a harp on a white cloud.

  • I like this ad. It's quite faithful to the original, and the guy has exactly the right mannerisms down for someone who may have enjoyed too much of the excesses of the rave scene around ninety...(pause) two. Brilliant!

  • @retrobloke78 Haha

  • Absolutely shocking ! Embarrassingly bad acting.

  • @BWJ0460 i know lol "ohh my name, he he, yeah it's day - v - lately"

  • not as good as J.R. Hartley...!

  • @themsyeah Actually it was. Not sure why the passengers were cheering, though.

  • Comment removed

  • pound for pound, this video has the most funniest comments on youtube.

  • Lol, love the comments on this. The bloke is such a fool. Is this like an extended version?

  • No thank you, no goodbye, nothing.

  • 0:25 - This looks a hell of a lot like the basement in X-Records, a shop in Bolton.

  • @tomharding X RECORDS FTW!

  • @tomharding

It does, but I don't think it is to be honest...saying that it's been a while since I've been downstairs in there.

  • ftm

  • anybody no where to get picture of the red bird behind settee .thanks

  • Wow, what a way to butcher a beautiful advert.

    21st Century Makeover? Pathetic.

  • @littlemissshy1000 where's she from

  • Day V Lately is Bi-winning. Yes!

  • Anyone else find obvious product placement of Apple in this advert? 0:38 IPhone 0:44 Apple Mac 0:46 There is an apple on the desk -.-

  • @BolticBomber yup. nor please.

  • Should of just used discogs.com instead, would of saved a bit of hassle!

  • please explain this advert to me. i dont get it at all

  • @PaulDavidScott It's a real documentary about an ex-DJ too stupid to keep originals from his beloved (and obviously failed) music career and so had to traipse around London, searching out his sad past for days on end. OK, thanks to Yell and a Smartphone, he did find what he was looking for, but unfortunately was knocked down and killed by a bus on his way to the record shop holding the disc for him. Sad.

  • @DoctorTimmyTiddles thanks dude

  • @PaulDavidScott Glad to be of help.

  • @DoctorTimmyTiddles

    trolololol

  • @DoctorTimmyTiddles He died??

  • This ad has the same colossal mistake as the JR Hartlet original. When you've just asked for a song by Day V Lately and the other guy asks your name, your next sentence should begin, "ACTUALLY, ..."

  • OMFG! i don't know what's making me laugh more, the advert or the comments left underneath!!! ROFL!

  • Did Metronomy do the music? The chord progression of the intro sounds like 'Do The Right Thing'.

  • anyone know what the background track is?

  • The address he finds is 0.3 miles away from his house, surely he would of already checked that shop?

  • I love this! is it a real song?

  • it took me 2 secs to find the song.....ON YOUTUBE! and also, he dont say 'bye' to the guy lol. just puts the phone down

  • This advert sucks sooooooo damn much, I hate it, HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a way to crap on the original. Screw him and his record

  • @BolticBomber Nor did JR Hartley say thanks; his original rudeness echoes through the ages.

  • Comment removed

  • Just saying, i know the girl. :) xx

  • This is desperate stuff from a desperate company. Looks like they have filmed quite a few shots in the same shop from a different angle. Clearly strapped for cash

  • Whats the tune?

  • Dave lately "ave ye got me record? Dave then a V and lately"

Record shops " I doubt it mate, never heard of you"

Dave Lately" Never mind, it's bollox..."

  • 0:16 hot.

  • rory delap?

  • How did that scruffy git get so far in life?? A (relatively) swanky North London abode, a daughter AND an iPhone?? Proof if ever were needed that running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music is actually a pretty good life choice..

  • somehow unassuming and yet painfully smug and unfunny at the same time

  • LOL at 0:11 "Who??? :D

  • this advert made me laugh loads and i thought he looked like a bit of a geezer, makes me laugh when i see it...

  • Comment removed

  • @nerro23 why? :) do u own it?

  • Its all fake. Wikipedia it.

"Day V Lately is the name of a fictional former DJ in a marketing campaign for Yell, played by actor Matthew Jure."

"Both original and trance mixes of Pulse and Thunder were created for the campaign and are available to buy through iTunes."

Still the best advert of 2011 !!!!!

  • @FocusFusion best? more like worst. :/

  • Comment removed

  • a very cute magical advert!

  • J.R. Hartley is spinning in his urn.

  • the shop at 0:27 is one of the best in London. Just thought Id share.

  • @nerro23 Where abouts its it? and what is it called?

  • @CODRD I think its called Music and Video exchange.. but its on Berwick Street in Soho

  • if the tune came out in 2011 then why did he say 1992 ?? Weird

  • @corsakiddy ask your mum

  • @corsakiddy Its called Advertising Propaganda

  • the song playing at the end is the tune in question, pulse & thunder by day v lately.

it was released at the start of this month and is available on itunes :D

    what a tune!

  • His girlfriend at the end is sooooo friggin' hot!!! wow. Fair play to the guy.

  • @theviewtoakill

Thats his daughter. thats why she calls him dad. sicko

  • @PeterZeeke

That whole exchange made me laugh so hard!!!

  • LIKE IF THIS ADVERT GIVES YOU THE OLDSKOOL TINGLES LOL

  • Whats the song ?

  • I'm looking for some of those good pills we use to get back in the day..Doves..Mitsubishi's....got any?

  • This advert annoyed me so much i looked it up on youtube, created an account and left a comment expressing my distain for it

  • @karloslokokos Why did it annoy you?

  • @karloslokokos I pity your boredom to do that... sad.

  • @cameronbaily it's pulse and thunder by day v lately

  • THIS ADVERT IS FOR SAD PATHETIC WANNA WHITE BOYS WITH UGLY DAUGHTERS!!! DAY V LATELY FOR EXAMPLE!!!!!

  • i love this advert! i dont know why, but its just AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • Shows how out of date the people who made this advert are a) You can't find any record shops b) You need to go online c) That's because they are all in Jersey/Guernsey.

  • This awful update says a lot about the lack of originality in ours society. A charming grandad is replaced by someone who looks like a renegade member of Coldplay, lots of trendy references and a horrible piece of music on the end.

    Dreadful.

  • If you go to the webpage given on the phone it's owned by Yell.com and is a "day v lately" webpage. The song was made by the company recently and made in a similar style to 90s trance songs. It's a great marketing campaign though.

  • 0.34 he looks like he's gonna kill her.

  • Lovin' It! - I've found the tune and like hundreds of us have stuck it on Facebook and SoundCLoud! - Rockini!

  • Is it Andy Fletcher (depeche mode) near the end., says "never heard of it"?

  • I actually quite like this add, it already hooked me, because I know what it's like to be looking for a song, but when I realized it was his, it made me go "aww" for some reason... I guess I'm sentimental like theat. L)

  • would have been easier just to log on to discogs!

  • does anyone no were to get copy of background picture of red bird.thank you.

  • Why didn't he just use discogs?:P

  • DAY V LATELY GO ON LAD

  • Should of used googl or checked you tube all from his smart phone.

  • Like the advert a lot. What was the name of the dance song featured in the advert?

  • @uhegbu Weren't you listening? Its called Pulse and Thunder by Day V Lately. And I'm not taking the piss, its just been released on itunes to coincide with the advert.

  • @uhegbu Pulse and Thunder, by Day V lately. It is an actual track.

  • @Shithouse1 yep, because most music that's popular is good? I think not.

  • why does he do that thing with his hands when he spells his name lol

  • I think this is a terrible, terrible take on a classic ad. Totally AWFUL.

  • my step brothers the dude with the orange hair! :D

  • God, in this day and age he should have just gone on youtube, converted to MP3 and shoved it on his lass's iPhone

  • LOl it be funny if when hes on the phone they said they didn't have it.

  • Always rock a bit of Day V Lately now n then

  • I think that orange haired guy was my hairdresser! Does anyone know who he is?

  • Top man

  • now come those of you who remember the original jr hartley how many thought the guy did really exist ,or worse still who went to buy his book,it was that convincing im sure some did

  • wow got a lot of videos

  • IS THIS guy an actual musician?

  • Love this ad..... but our little Facebook page always knew that JR Hartley was the one to beat... made sense to remake it !!! Come join us on Facebook (J R Hartley probably the best Yellow Pages advert ever)

  • "looking for a trance mix,,," That should have set the bells off that this isn't real for a start!

In any case, should have gone to rapidshare!
