"sweet memories of my pre-school and kindergarten years"? My God, I was already on life support when this series aired................................
They "broke the mold" after Mr. Glenn Ford" was created.
Eh!
Thanks to the original poster. I have had this theme song running my head for years now but could not remember the name of the show. Finally I've found it, my brain can rest again...
@AustinKnightOwner I had EXACTLY the same experience!!LOL I could sing the tune, but for 30 YEARS i ve been looking for it!! Sooo strange to read that I'm not the only one!! Great!!!!!!!!:)
There were a number of accidents reported back in those days on the news. Jeeps were orginally meant to be off-road vehichles. The stunts seem to be a misuse of the vehichle.
richintalent, the jurisdiction in "Cade's County" was the fictitious Madrid County, New Mexico (You can even see the sun sign -New Mexico's Seal - in the seal of the (7) seven-pointed Star on the floor as Cade leaves the building). I do own a CD copy of "Midnight; Moonlight & Magic - The Best of Henry Mancini", which has the studio track cut of this theme. To think that Glenn Ford did this series between tours in Vietnam............................................................
Probably the neatest song every recorded by Henry Mancini. I had to buy a CD from Italy to get this song, but now it's available on CD in the USA again! I remember watching this show on Sunday nights, and loved the Toledo-built Jeep doing the "Jeep Jump" in the opening credits!
@johnnyelectron Nice Jeep jump, but a crash involving that jeep killed a stunt man and injured another. The Jeep was discarded in the later episodes, and replaced with a Black Chrysler Newport.
Thanks for posting this, chatmerli. Last time I saw this was over 30 years ago as a very young child, but never forgot that unusual theme tune (with the early 'moog' whistling sound)and really wanted to track it down. Fantastic to see others remember it as fondly as I do, too. Thanks again. :)
I can recall watching this program on Sunday nights on WJBK Television in Detroit. I was eight at the time, and it was standard, but a pretty good theme song.
Have waited many years to hear this theme song again. The show never seemed to rise above the field of other law enforcement dramas. Same M.O., different backdrop. Ho-Hum.
Fantastic to see Glenn Ford driving the Kiaser (American Motors)Jeep V6 through the desert to the great arrangement of Henry Manchini. A memorable opening sequence for the 1970's.I enjoyed it on Sunday nights in Sydney Australia (pre 60 minutes). Glenn Ford visited to promote the show in 71/72 & saved Michael Cole (Mod Squad) from being a complete fool (drunk on TV).There were a few good episodes but generally the show was disappointing. Love the opening!.
@PFHodel1955 glen ford did a 16mm film film commercial for the yale lock company that was shown in a shopping mall teelling people to put dead bolt locks on closets and put yer valuables in there a gimmick to sell locks with robert strauss breaking into houses cades county was a weak replacement to the ed sullivan shoew
Finally posted this introductory song!! Been waiting a year for this on this site. It has been since the show was cancelled since I have heard this theme song. Wonderful to hear it. Bravo to whomever posted the song. :)

That terrain is too much for an automobile.

It looks like a seven pointed star on Cade`s jeep, while his badge has six points.
It took some time to adjust to Uncle Joe as a deputy sheriff. Buchannon was not type-casted like Uncle Joe

Sam would be driving a Hummer today.
