Demos like Thrust's Ottifanten and this are legendary and will be remembered. Who remembers most of the typical demos, with their elevator musics and filled vectors?
It was demos like this that inspired me to learn programming at the age of 12. So to Budbrain and all the other awesome demo groups out there, thank you!
Actually the bit "What the hell" is from Terminator. If I remember correctly the part that Arnold appears naked outside the bar. A drunks says it. (I know, a little sick to remember this).
God, I was 13 when that came out in 1990! Makes me feel old. Good memories from the Amiga days, many an evening in with my mates watching this, or playing Turrican.
@thepts Remember that this was coded long before the likes of 9 fingers and jesus on e's. I remember getting this demo on 3.5" floppy from a b.b.s and it was hailed as the best at that time. Ahh. They were the days.
Due to the compression of the video information, this all seems much WORSE than on actual Amiga. This can be seen especially in Kaos, where the multicolored lines are blurred. Also, the sound is Joint Stereo which negatively affects the left/right channel separation in Beatbox Singing birds. Also, you may had keep the "loading" and "decompressing" parts in between the parts, just to retain complete feeling and rememberence.
This brings back too many memories for me to be real. Classic demo. How times have changed since then. Where are the 2008 demos that show off what computers can do now? in 2008 they should be mind blowing, or am I missing something that we could never, ever miss in the Amiga days?
1. the squeeze gave me one of the biggest laughs ever back then...
2. chaos still rocks hell!!!
3. facts about the movie: The words "What the hell?" after the guy wakes is taken from the terminator and the shriek sound when he sees the burglar is taken from Escape from New York
The "God-DAMN" sample is also taken from The Terminator, whena heavily-armed Arnie is walking past a guy in a corridor (shortly after the eye/scalpel scene I seem to recall)
Was one of my first big demos (MEGA DEMO they called it). Never will forget it.
And the coolest thing was when you load the first disc it emulated an Amiga GURU Meditation Error (kind of system/disc error) with blinking system leds...way great!
Long live the demo scene (although its nearly dead).
OMG I loved this demo. My Amiga died unfortunately, but good to see so many excellent demos uploaded on here. Happy memories from my college days *sighs* Bring back the Amiga!
fucking stealer of workbench!if Amiga had all that a pc has today it would run in with 1/3 memory in 1/3 capacity of hd and 30 programs or games in one time!
AmiOS then still beats the shit out of Vistas and XPs alike...Or how about true multitasking, desktop snapshots and whole OS taking 20k of mem when loaded!!
What a strange feeling it is just to "watch it" like this. Usually i must unpack the Amiga and install every cables etc, and then load Budbrain... i LOVE the "KAOS"-track.
Again, thanx for posting this. I've still got an Amiga 600 with a load of classic demos, but I couldn't get this one to load just before the beat-box birds. Good to see it again! You really can find anything on You Tube!

This shit really impressed me when i really got the time to sit down and try out an Amiga for the 1st time in 1990.
Before that i'd only seen em in stores and screenshots in computergame magazines.
It was pretty mindblowing going from C128 to Amiga.
I decided to get my own at once!
