Depending on what anime it is, I will generally watch it in japanese as most would. But I am interested in the wrold of Voice Acting so I like to watch dubs. e.g The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, I have watched it multiple

times, but don't want to watch it in japanese. I love the Voice acting in it that much. I felt inclined to watch Lucky Star in English too. I am going to watch the japanese ones though. It seems wierd watching a whole dubbed series then the OVA which weren't dubbed.

@MCullenHightopp It's not that they can't but that they don't want to. And Not all dubs are bad. In fact Not even most dubs are bad. Pretty much any anime popular enough to have gotten a dub after the late 90's is pretty good. And almost all sub arguments are total bull. Translation isn't any better and is in fact usually worse, all puns are made irrelevant, the japanese VA's aren't really any better than non Japanese

@MCullenHightopp (Continued) and although you can understand it it the subtitles muddle up the bottom of the screen of your media player and for long translations and overlapping dialog takes up the most of the screen blocking out much of the animation distracting you from what's going on and can often confuse you if the subs don't reference who is speaking in overlapping dialog. Not to mention there is just a stigma against Subtitled anything.

Do you really think that shows like DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, Death note, ect would have half the non japanese fan base it has now if they weren't dubbed in other languages? Most anime fans get in through a dubbed show that expands the anime they watch. I mean just look at Toonami and Adult swim in the States. I can only guess how many anime fans were made by the dubs of DBZ, Outlaw Star, and Cowboy bebop that aired.
