"It's surprising to me that, I guess, the corporate bigwigs aren't sensitive enough to their constituents in the demographic that exists here (NYC) and there isn't something that can also serve them as well." (I bet he's not that surprised, really!)
Lars Ulrich (Metallica) vs David Draiman (Disturbed)?
I'm not trying to be a troll here, I was just listening to "Warrior", "Indestructible" and "Inside the fire" back to back with "Enter Sandman", "Master of Puppets", and "All nightmare long", and I couldn't bring myself to a decision. They're both really good.
He might be articulate, but his songwriting skills need work. It's amazing how he is so influenced by Maynard, yet Disturbed's music is mere child's play compared to the brilliance, complexity, and all around intellect inherent in Tool's music.
Although I guess that may be a little harsh...no band can be quite as good as Tool, because Tool has Danny Carey.
@spcellforever so you stand on the side of the loosers who call themselves "fans" ?!? thats good one FAKE fan out wonder how much people will think that telling the truth is "idiotic"
so fucking true man, there music help me get thru tuff shit and hard times and it can make u feel powerfull and good i love there music man hope they rock on for years to come :)
Here in Brisbane (QLD, Australia) all we hear (99% of the time) is piss-weak emotionless pop dribble that the record companies puke out on a weekly basis. We basically never hear anything different, perhaps on Triple J or maybe Triple M we hear something alternative but hardly ever metal, which SUCKS.
David Draiman's Beautiful Mind> -"A powerfully imaginative mind that seizes and combines at the same instant, not only two, but all the important ideas of it's poem, picture, or song. And while it works with any one of them, it is at the same instant working with and modifying all in their relations to it, never losing sight of their bearing on each other, as the motion of a snake's body goes through all parts at once, and its volition acts at the same instant in coils that go contrary ways."
@king7thomas No, you don't understand what you're talking about. You said "priest is good" JUDAS PRIEST IS THE FUCKING BAND. THE SINGER IS ROB HALFORD, NOT JUDAS PRIEST. Second, who the hell expect you gives a damn fuck if he's gay? He's tougher than most of the straight guys out there, plus his music is just fucking great.
@king7thomas Dude. It's fucking 9am in here. So nah, I think I'll skip that sleeping part. But anyways, calling the singer as "Judas Priest" is just plain retarded.
Priest may be the God Of Metal, now, But you are certainly THE 'heir to the throne'! Man, there is No other sound like Disturbed's. I am glad to hear David give kudos to Ozzy. To the 'critics'.. Ozzy has ALWAYS stayed true to his sound. He's been around how long?
About the songs "sounding the same". Name one band that actually diversify so that you cannot tell that it is 'their' music. If not for the'Disturbed' SOUND, they wouldn't BE DISTURBED. Enjoy the music. When I heard Asylum? I literally SCREAMED with joy that Disturbed was going to do a dark- oriented album. It hasn't, not really, since The Sickness! And David's Lyrics are to DIE for!
(The Magical 'Voice' -IS an 'instrument', Love.) His intelligence is not surprising; he's credited with a Triple Major; Business Administration, Political Science, and Philosophy. David is also capable as an attorney, which is what he walked away from to pursue his 'metal' dream. I'd love to know his I.Q. -I totally believe it is 'genius'. Seriously.
In regards to his comments on "Songs sounding the same", they do go in a slightly different direction with the new Album...but many songs are thematically and audibly very very similar to a lot of stuff off Indestructible. It's not identical...but it's close enough where I sit there and say "This sounds...familiar".
I really <3 David Draiman. His vocals are amazing and I have always looked forward to new songs of his since "The Sickness". I had the privilege to see Disturbed live in Johnson City TN 2 years ago & it was everything & more that I was expecting I hope they come back to Johnson City for a concert later. I also love what David said about his songs helping his fans to push through their lives. I say that is majorly true with myself & some major stuff I have been through & still going through.
his intellect and the ability to articulate a stimulating thought as is contrary to the vast majority of music groups--multiple genres encompass this...no need to even mention pop--and yet be able to get up on stage and unleash this raging beast within to the captivation of thousands has to be the sexiest trait i have ever fathomed
@Neitzluber yes...i know ;) . his vocation was to be a lawyer until obviously he found something much more therapeutic. i'm seeing him tomorrow at uproar and will die in the shakespearean sense XD
@gahenna666 i have no clue what you just wrote there buddy, but from what i can tell, you're saying, DISTURBED is fuckin awesome and I totally agree:D
@SecretsofGames she's (at least I think it's a she) is saying that his ability to sing like a beast on stage, and come off stage and sounds very intelligent and NOT sound like a douche who can't think, only song-write is the sexiest trait she's ever seen
