  • It doesn't even blow as powerfully as a regular fan.

  • Conversation piece?

$300 so that my friends have something to talk to me about?

    No worries!

  • Is this review of a fan or from a fan?

  • but will it blend?

  • @0xan4xan0 Yes it will blend with my f******* c***. What kinda dumb f****** question is that. Is your head that rotten??

  • @AshimSingh1 u moron... u didn't even know what I was referring to

  • @0xan4xan0 Ya fkn retard!!! GGYSFKDDDD!!

  • That thing is so damn noisy!

His vacuums are cool, but what good is a fan that keeps you up at night?

  • I'm so tired of being "buffeted" by my standard fan! LMAO

  • This thing is not blade-less as they claim, the blades are just in the base instead of being visible!

  • Lol I wonder what will happen if I cover all the intake vents on base. What it seems to me, is the fans motor is stationed at the base instead of the top of a original fan. I made one with some computer fans. Frame and fans and LED lighting 50 dollars.

  • what a piece of shit

  • but you cant make robot voice with it :'(

  • Why wouldn't someone just buy a quieter tower fan for a fraction of the price, that doesn't blow choppy air??

  • what's the dB on that thing, sounds noisy, if an infant had their head against it ear damage ?

  • 0:50 This thing does not, in any way, shape or form, work anything at all like a jet engine. The only way it could possibly be more dissimilar to a jet engine is if it didn't blow air.

  • it makes this loud and hissing noise.

  • watts? amps?

  • It can't turn 360? wth?

  • $15.00 vs $300.00. What should I do?

  • "so your kids do not put their fingers in".... er isn't that the reason fans have a guard on anyway, this solves nothing.

  • well through shit in the fan

  • @fanasz FAIL

  • LOL you guys are cracking me up. Dyson is pricey...Hes not for the middle lower class, He aims at his target market and for being a billionaire, he must be doing something right. When you think Dyson, you think environmental friendly and long lasting. He has won numerous patent infringements cases from Hoover and others. The guy really struggled for 15-20 years before even being big in USA. I respect a guy who was told his ideas were stupid and still kept designing!

  • To expensive, stick to the cheap simple fans.

  • This is ingenous technology,,he did nice explainin its operation bt missed the point how the air is actually drawn in & thrown out uni-directionally.Its suckd in the tube via a side opening on the vertical tube thn goes insde the circular ring & by inside i mean you do a cross section of the ring thn a kind of orifice or opening is wh@ lets it out on the trailing edge of the ring is what gushes air out in one direction.Amplification comes in due to Aerodynamics invlvd radially rear &frontwise

  • I got one from china and i pay 35$ for it, the only difference that it's not writed Dyson on it lol

  • "Don't have to worry about kids putting hands into the fan"

How will they ever learn anything?

  • hmmm so it sucks the air around it and amplifies it huh?..wouldnt want that in a space station where air is really needed

  • @whatthi . brain donor

  • I think he almost cracked up when he said the thing about how neat it is to be "blown by a bladeless fan" 0:41

  • $330 fr a fan .... fark wat a ripoff...sigh...

  • a table fan for the price of a window air conditioner

because there are so many children being killed and maimed by regular fans

now all you have to worry about is being out $300 after your kids break it by trying to throw things through the hoop!

  • Comment removed

  • @davids8aff Just because you it is expensive, does not mean that we should repress further technological improvements in our society.

  • @UlTrA2GaMeR I think you left a word out in your reply. I do not see this as a technological improvement, this technology is similar to the fans that create an air barrier when you enter and exit shopping malls. All the r&d that went into this thing does not justify the cost, you're only paying for the coolness factor.

  • I saw one of these at BEST BUY the other day, these things are powerful!!! I was standing 20 feet away and it was freezing!!! Very kick ass! These things are sooooooooo much better than regular fans! See one in person, you will love them!

  • Lmao I can get the same airflow with a five dollar fan!

  • Might as well get an air conditioner for the same price!

  • Its a fkn rip-off n it does has blades

  • pretty cool but will it bland ?

  • This will be our future's transportation means =D

  • Electric fans don't have an "engine" they have a motor and you said bladeless twice ++ after opening it showing BLADES.

Lastly you did not answer the inevitable question, WILL IT BLEND?

  • 350$? i better buy me an A/C for that amt of cash....

  • Conversation piece, huh? I'm guessing most of the coversations about it start off something like, "You paid three hundred dollars for that thing!?!"

  • expensive shit :O but i want it so bad

  • the horrible thing is that all the air runs over the motor. it's like an air conditioner level of tech vs air quality

  • Best review for this fucking noisy fan == watch?v=fVbEE0Qe4BQ

  • I built one for about 20 dollars and it only took 4 hours

  • @m42320able How did you build it?

  • This is a total gimmick in my humble opinion. There ARE blades, the ring is just directing the air. The blades are underneath the ring.

  • @screenflicker1 I think you're missing the two main points of this fan - which are 1) it doesn't have spinning blades that kids can put their fingers into; 2) it's an air multiplier that uses less energy to create wind. No scam - they show the tiny fan in its base.

  • It shoud be named "injection fan"

I dont see any reason why it is ring shaped, i think it should be flat and more compact.

  • Just buy a portable air conditioner if you plan to spend that much for a fan. Matter of fact, It's actually cheaper. And most of all it chills the air.

btw, wouldn't you still have to clean the air intake at the base of this thing? Bladeless...shmadeless, if there's air movement....there's dust movement.

  • I sell these at a major retailer in London, their useless, just a gimmick, they don't exert nearly as much as a regular £50 desk fan, so unless your the kind of idiot to stick your hand into a fans moving blades this is not going to benefit you.

  • $300, and for the little model? I admit it's cool, but not that cool. If you see this in anyone's home, you have the right to punch them in the face. Spend $20 on a blade fan. It's just as good. Send the rest of the money to kids who have to go to school in piss soaked cloths.

  • can i set it on fire so my cat can jump through it?

  • @scalabration UMADBRO

  • @TheAqui2000 you stupid moron..

  • @justaviewerfromspace bitch you just Mad.

  • @justaviewerfromspace u mad bro?

  • @TheAqui2000 you deserve more than 53 thumbs up for that comment

  • @TheAqui2000 Hahahahaha....good one!!

  • The bladeless blades are in the base, therefore it is not bladeless. I'm just waiting for the patent to run out so other companies can do the same thing for the same price as a normal fan. It's "fancy" so it's more expensive.

  • Can you call this a review?? More of a demo. I want to know if the airflow is comparable to a regular fan. But still... a very cool technology!

  • Wow a $300 conversation piece?! That is totally what I have been looking for!

  • @eksile8 scientists are working on and are being successful with making air move with sonic sounds so yea you can

  • @Althestane But the momentum (mass*velocity) should be same if suppose both a traditional fan and this have same motor of an equal power. So when 1 part pulls five parts its speed should slow down by dragging of other five parts of air than our traditional fan blowing 1 part with the same power and is not pulling 5 parts along it. I understand speed up the air like river/jet engine but needs already one direction flow of air. In river its walls, in jet its fans, but in room air is mostly random.

  • @answerOfstupids Well, the air coming out of the ring isn't technically "pulling" the other air along: the ring-air creates a kind of negative pressure and that vacuum is what's pulling a column of air through the center of the ring, so the ring-air isn't being dragged down by the mass of the column-air, it's being added to. Look up the "how it works" videos for a visual aid. In the end you're probably right that both kinds of fans have nearly the same output. Also, it's still way too expensive!

  • The price for this is ridiculous. I'd pay, at most, $60.00 for a bladeless fan.

  • this just streamlines the flow of air.

  • i Dont understand what do they mean by multiplier. There is no way that fan could blow more air than the energy provided by motor. So why do they act as if the ring increases the amount of air.. if i am right smaller amount of air is blown fast into larger amount of air, in the end large speeds up and smaller one slows down. THe shortest way is always a straight line and thats what regular fans are. Straight to face, why have air rub against this ring thing. Am i missing something??

  • @answerOfstupids Traditional fans pull in 1-part-air and push out 1-part-air: the faster the blades turn, the faster the air gets forced out. This fan uses other fluid dynamics(inducement & entrainment): it pulls in 1 part of air but when that 1 part gets pushed out, the shape of the ring forces it to pull 5 MORE parts of air along with it, hence the "multiplying gimmick". It IS just a fan, it just moves air around differently/more efficiently and with less turbulence so it throws air farther.

  • It has blades....

  • Bullshit, the blades are in the base. Also it's just as loud as a regular fan.

  • And the company was saying how AC is unnatural, unlike his bladeless fan, that gives you natural air current. Geez, we get natural wind for free, not 300$. Since when do we want to produce artificial/unnatural machines, so that in the end we can get free natural things?

  • AC will cool the air much better than this fan, or any fan, because it doesn't just use air convection, it refrigerates the air and then send the cold air out. This bladeless fan works the same as any normal fan, it also has the same power as any normal fan, the only advantages are: no blade to avoid danger, "looks good".

  • it's just a normal fan, except its blade and motor are located at the bottom, it says that it sucks in air to "multiply"/increase its airflow, it's the same as the normal fan, put a piece of paper behind a normal fan, and the paper will stuck on the back side of the fan, because air is been sucked from the back to front of the fan.

it looks good, but it work just like a normal fan, 300+$? I don't think so.

  • Multiplier ring, Ha!

  • the fuck people still use fans ? ac is more like it o_0

  • This fan BLOWS and not in a good way, it has the typical "cage" turbine design, and guess what?? it still has BLADES, you cant have air without blades even tiny ones in a circular lay down design its still a FAN.

you can call a turd a diamond, but at the end of the day its still a turd, save your money....buy 6 to 10 fans for the price of this one cause this thing really dont move air, ive slept with fans for 28 years and this by far is the most over priced POS you will EVER buy.

  • Awe man I was just about to go get it until i found it was $300

  • I want to try chucking ping pong balls through the back!

  • looks cool. but still its just a fucking fan

  • @ronniepage

Thats what they said about everything that dyson makes :P

  • It looks similar to a turbo in the base when they show the blades. I assume there are several layers of blades that compress the air to pump it into the ring? I can see where it would be noisy in that case, but probably more of a whine rather than blade noise.

  • Will my voice still sound robotic when I talk into this fan?

  • @padawan3

Thats a really good point Man; Wts the use of a Fan When it Cannot Make ur Voice Sound Robotic...

  • @padawan3 oh my god ahahahaha

  • @padawan3 hahahahahahaaah ..... the best comment

  • i dont think so, because there's no blades to chop the sound waves of you're voice.

  • I wish this were an actual REVIEW. All you did was repeat the obvious things about the fan ... it seems like you were just reading from a one paragraph description of the fan written by Dyson -_-

  • awesome! :D

    300 +? not so awesome...... (0.0)

  • I like this but I dont think I'm spending 300$ on that!

  • No, you dont have to worry about your kids cutting their fingers off with the blades. but you do have to worry about them knocking over and breaking your brand new $300 fan.

  • who the fuck would buy a fan 4 $300 when u can buy a 3DS for $250 and 1 or 2 games with the 3DS

  • @narutogoodblood13 someone who already has a 3ds with 1 or 2 games ;)

  • @narutogoodblood13 People who are not lazy like you and have life!

  • @vadik24 dud a fan is like watching paint dry and with a 3DS at least your doing something and what does life have to do with it

  • wrong, good sir. the correct answer is magic

  • i'll buy one next year when they're 30$

  • This isn't a review, it's an infomercial.

  • rip off

  • HAHA. Take a nap next to that noisy thing.

  • Air Multiplier?? wtf Dyson?? its called a compressor lol its an air compressor pushing air around a ring. how is that new tech... brb going to go build one of these for 12$ lmaoo :P

  • It is relatively loud, that is because while it has no blades and I was assuming it would be using electric currents to create low and high pressure zones like wind on Earth. This was disappointing because this is simply a brushless electric motor inside the pedestal that sucks in air and feeds it into a tube inside the pedestal. The tube winds around the circle with slits in it to allow air flow, Dyson claims it produces x15 more air then it sucks in, hence air multiplier, but that is bullshit.

  • @Selrise i honestly thought they made this fan using electric currents like you did.... i was excited until i read your post. thx for savin me some money lol

  • its not worth the $300

  • dumass your not choping air at all your just rotating it in a foward motion

  • Yes, I was hoping for a review of the noise level also.

  • "No problem of your kids putting their hands in the fan..." Isn't that why all fans have a metal grill all around them??

  • 15 times? the dyson dude said multiplies 16

    lol tool

  • whats the point in buying it if it doesnt make your voice sound awesome... lame ass fan

  • These are nice to look at but very noisy (unlike traditional fans with blades) especially at high speeds......

  • How is that a "review"? It was more like an advertisement. Was CNET paid for it?

  • @DonTruman what else u wanted to hear duh

  • I don't know why it's so expensive. It's just a fan motor blowing air into a "specially designed" ring. A friend of mine built a device that does virtually the same thing. You're not getting rid of the fan, you're just hiding it in the base and using pressure to increase the air speed (like pinching a water hose).

  • WHAT THE FUCK DOES MULTIPLY AIR MEANS? YOU CAN DIVIDE AIR?

  • If I had the money, I would build a flying version.

  • @variezn34gm

If I had the money, I'd hire some Egyptian princesses to wave palm leaves at me.

  • The thing thats gunna suck about this. No instant auto-tune just by talking into it :(

  • a conversation piece? whatever happened to nick nacks???lol

  • actuly there is sutch thin it pushes the air throa thin ring ad it kinda works as a vacume it pushes the air one way and it sucks 15 times more air then its is using to get it moving if that makes sence lol

  • There's no such thing as "air multiplication." That would violate the law of conservation of energy. If you want to move or compress air, you have to put energy into it. You don't put x amount of energy and get 15x the equivalent amount of kinetic energy from the air.

Now you can speed up air by reducing the size of the orifice/nozzle, but that comes with a cost too. You have frictional losses as well as flow losses. Anyone can understand this with a garden hose sprayer.

  • shit doesnt hit the fan anymore!!!!!!!!!??????

  • These are far from silent...Dyson fucking lies!

  • How does the non buffeting air flow feel when you are naked in front of it after a shower and you are getting the cool breeze blowing against your big nuts??? This is a key factor for me in purchasing this item. i like the idea of non buffetting nut blow winds.

  • It's VERY loud. A friend of mine bought one, and I have seen a couple in stores. I was very disappointed, because I loved the design... but the fact is they're SO loud, and put out SO much less air than a 30 dollar Vornado, I would feel like a fool spending 300 dollars on one just for the novelty of it.

  • im a big fan of this,

  • im not a fan....lol

  • Comment removed

  • PUT SOME DUCT TAPE ON THE BOTTOM THAT BITCH FOR BASKETBALL HOOP

  • I'm not a fan.

  • @codfather102

    LOL

  • $330 conversation piece? ... I rather just come up with something to talk about.

  • @SonGolin jajajajaj me 2 cool but not for that price jajaja

  • Nothing about performance?? Disappointing, CNET.

  • Conversation piece? Me: "Hey! Have you heard about that new Dyson fan? It uses no BLADES!" Friend: "No I havn't, how does it work?" Me: "Well......" That cost me only 1 min of my time.

  • ok, but does it function well? better than others? how many CFM's? where can people get an honest review now-a-days?

  • Another little Toy for People who have FAR Too Much Money...

  • Sorry, plenty of pirate copies made in China cost about USD 25.00-30.00/pc (retail price)

  • @gohgoh1957 haha i have one of those <3 i laughed so hard when I saw that they were trying to sell this in America for over $300

  • I'm waiting for these to become ultra cheap someday when other companies rip it off!

  • all he told us is that its a fucking fan.... what is this faggot tree?

  • I'm not a fan ...

well maybe if you buy me one ... haha

  • i guess its not important to mention if its loud or not in a review? cnet is shit

  • @zoddyi if u got to Dyson website they have a review about that

  • @zoddyi Not loud at all o:

I saw two hooked up at a bestbuy some weeks back

    very quiet

  • @Yenaboi I actually saw 5 of them at Sears yesterday, they weren't exactly quiet, in fact they were just as loud as a conventional balded fan. The ones you saw were probably on the lowest possible setting.

  • @atersky I was thinking that

but really.. you don't need to have them turned up high

They can do pretty fine on low o:

  • @Yenaboi is your silence worth 300$ dollars

  • @zoddyi I saw a demo at the shop and they are pretty quiet

  • @zoddyi it is loud.

  • all me when it hits $49.95.

  • "and the engine in the base here is called the dyson air multiplier

because what it does, is it draws air in here, into the base, and multiplies it"

    good job!

  • how is this high tech? Essentially your sucking air in, and shooting it back out through a tube. They've been doing this for a long time

  • chinsy plastic like what i'd expect from a dyson vacuum

  • ive got a great invention to stop kid trapping their fingers in a fan - a grill. Oh wait its already invented

  • the question is, will it blend?

  • shit... if this thing takes off and these types of fans become the norm then the saying "when shits hits the fan.." will have no meaning. I don't think I could go upto it and blert out the words "luke i'm your father". Give me a cheap £30 fan

  • Can I put my penis in it?

  • @Yukito590 why would you want to?

  • are you fucking with me when he said expensive i was expexting like 40 bucks

  • Looks like a big waste of money, I'll grant there's even air flow but even from this demo there isn't any airflow in the middle of the fan which means you have to line up prefectly with it or it doesn't work.

  • Hmm a £170 Dyson fan which will break as it's a dyson or £10 fan which will last a few years from my local store

  • dyson = gimmicky crap!

  • wrong... it's 16 times!!! not 15... But too bad, I'll have to take the risk of my children putting their hands in bladed fan because this piece of metal is way too out of budget...

  • wtf, $300

    I'm gonna go buy a new netbook/ipod/phone/whtever...

  • มันคือพัดลม

  • I will wait for my magnetoaerodynamic fan. Thank you very much.

  • I just need to invent a cash multiplier so I can buy the air multiplier. Rich folk must really sweat

  • The air that is pulled from the base of the unit actually only flows along the edges of the circle. But what this does is essentially "pulls" air from all around the unit, and pushes it forward.

However, it takes more than what is immediately behind the fan, but also around it nearly 360 degrees whereas normal fans are only what's directly behind it. That's why you don't feel wind behind it.

No, I'm not from Dyson. I'm a Physicist. My problem with this thing is that it's loud as hell. and$
