MMA is not a "martial arts system" While it is admirable and advantageous to study multiple disciplines, many MMA "fighters" don't study any one long enough to fully reap it's benifits. I wish these mma guys would come off of their high horse and learn to respect martial arts as a whole. That's what's wrong with these "mma jocks". They have yet learned any true discipline which is at the core of a true martial artist. Not all MMA students are this way but far too many are.
Newbies are incredibly disrespectful. Regardless of the contrast in crappy CG movies of today and this ULTRA CLASSIC MOVIE, Revenge of the Ninja is a timeless tale about a man who moved what remained of his family to America after his village was slaughtered back in Japan. And for fools who don't know, Sho Kosugi is actually the character who happens to be the top villain in Ninja Assassin from 2010. Aside from these 2 great movies, nothing can top Revenge of the Ninja from the eternal 1980s
Hulkout, don't waste your breath trying to defend traditional martial arts. The UFC fanboys who talk trash about it are either too stupid to know the truth, too young and arrogant, or both. Even some of the best UFC/MMA fighters of all time (Bas Rutten, Frank Shamrock, Chuck Liddell, etc) have acknowledged that Bruce Lee and old school kung fu is what peaked their interest in martial arts to begin with.
@Bassplayer887 Very true. Altough i do not believe the martial art itself will be good for real fighting unless you train things like wrestling and boxing along with it, it will strengthen your mind, spirit and body.
Sho Kosugi is one of the best true martial artists. And I'm sick of people saying that you don't see ninjutsu in UFC. They are 2 completely different things. UFC is a sport where the goal is not to kill your opponent. Ninjutsu, traditional Shaolin Kung Fu, Karate, all the old martial arts, the goal was death. And it was also done with weapons, multiple attackers, rough terrain. Try your MMA ground and pound stuff when there's someone else stomping your head or thrusting a sword through you.
@hulkout666 Let me say i hold high regards towards the people who dedicate themselves to martial arts and gain spiritual and mental growth. Man against man MMA is the greatest form of combat, why? because it involves all the most effective ways of combat forms from roman grappling to western boxing to thai kicks. MMA is indeed the most deadly form of combat technique if you hold a choke long enough he is dead for sure. And you will not be able t stand up against an MMA fighter without grappling.
@TylerDurdenK7 And where does it state that Ninjitsu or any other traditional style are not MMA? We are beset with intermediate level martial arts paraded as mastership. All high level traditional martial arts have techniques that are either unseen in any other style or actually start to resemble other styles. On a side note, try to hold a choke on an opponent while attacked by a gang. Doesn't work except in the movies.
@MartialArchiveTv I said it is the best man against man and not gang against man or gang against gang. If you are fighting in larger numbers with swords and weapons then it is no longer a martial art contest, then it is a war with military strategies.
@TylerDurdenK7 You are correct about man to man MMA being the best since it teaches out of system techniques which broadens the vocabulary of the practitioner. You would be surprised how many traditional systems teach this to high level students only. Sport MMA is not always the best as it emphasizes close contact versus speedy destructive techniques. But it's a great sport and launching point for higher level martial training in any style.
However, we did know what kuji-in was. And "Ninja Finger Knitting" was one of the accepted translations. Seems a good translation for a mystic ninja technique.
Sho is a very impresive image of the ninja, in ever one of his movies...as one whom is a Teacher in the Shadow i remind myself the purity of the film image he brought even though it is only an image and the goal of the WAY which i bring to my students daily.....

Sho Kosugi is the last Traditionally trained Ninjitsu Master. All trained there after were only to continue the knowledge only for aesthetic reasons.

Wrong. Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi is the 34th grandmaster of the Togakure-ryu school of Ninjutsu. Sho is bad but Dr. Hatsumi is his equal.

Dr Hatsumi is a known grandmaster, Dr Hayes his student teaches in the US.
