I have watched another of your videos and you get a great tone. All I want to do is get a good tone *direct* to my computer - no amp - digitally. I have guitar rig 3 and it gives me abysmal sound. Do I need a DI box? do I need a distortion pedal? I have a strat - do I need a tele? The thing is, without the real country sound, every country lick just sounds tired, no matter how well it is played.
@amutimer100 Thanks. With Guitar Rig you actually dont need anything else. I've been trying guitar-rig and putting all sorts of pedals and stuff in front that didnt change anything. The prob can be to get semi-overdrive tones from GR. I felt that GR was for full distortion. But im not sure if thats true in all aspects. My alternative advise is: Get a compressor-pedal + Presonus TubePre and hook that up to soundcard. You get such a sweet overdrive then. I use that often. Cheers
just starting studying country style guitar and what i see and ear in your videos is unbelievable......your playing seems so authentic... are you sure you are not from Nashville?
@AlbertoSteriofficial I just saw your new video...its so great. Haha..no ...not Nashville here. I sure wish. Denmark is no land for country man...so im glad to have youtube to find fellow pickers ...like you :-)
@mystinger72 I havent found any Reed stuff that I could play...insane picker. Im looking for some Southstate, swampy "in the heat of the night" thing to play...let me know you got any ideas.
@lambadalasse - Hmmm, for Reed's stuff, I would say Gator McKlusky or Amos Moses. Both are swampy. There's another called Poke Salad Annie, it's more chords than anything, but they're pretty cleverly put together. I have messed around with it, fun to play. If you want some hardcore picking, jeez, Mule skinner Blues or Eastbound and Down. I was asking because this here that you play sounds like similar phrasing as the solo to Eastbound and Down.Hope this helps.
@lowa91 Hi Laura. It's a whole learning session from Doug Sevens DVD called "Playing In Circles". Tabs and his backingtrack is on the DVD also. Best wishes.
Wow that's sooo great! I've decided to take up guitar after playing bass for 10 + years. If i could get a fraction as good as you in that time i would be stoked! How many hours a week were you putting into it ? Thanks.
@bobslacker7 Thanks Bob. If you use around 1 hour a day you can play this track after 1-2 months (give or take the mocca-slurping and the distractions from wifey :-)
@lowa91 Heeyyy Laura...so you're still on youtube?...I've been looking for some new videos from you. Hope you are fine. Thanks for your very nice comment. Best regards / Lambada
@hardinmichael1981 Hi. Actually yes and since this video I have gotten 2 fake acrylic nails put on because I always broke my nails. I keep those pretty short, but being 9 times harder they give clarity to tone. Cheers
@Rushworshiper92 You can see the whole setup and pedalboard setup on my video called "Gear & Sound setup when I recorded Doug Seven / Vince Gill video"
Hi lambadalasse, so I bought the "Playing in Circles" video that you suggested to me, but there is a problem with the download, some things are missing, and Doug never seems to reply to the tech support requests that you can submit on his website. Have you found this? Have you been able to communicate with him? Mange tak!
@p0ndu5 I must agree that I'm also a bit cross-eyed when looking at his site. What I play here is Set 2 from his "Playing In Circles" DVD. That DVD suited me best because you train in also playing a series of licks to a backing track. That way it tends to be in the lick arsenal for a longer time.
I love your videos! They're just the motivation I need to keep learning country licks - I've been working on Doug7 stuff and some of it is extremely difficult (I'm not even touching the Brent Mason instructional a friend gave me). Keep the great videos comin! (great Tele, I have a CAR James Burton sig and I love it soooo much :) )
LOL dont get me wrong man I love country. But man you are a kick ass guitar player. Do some metallica covers or something. Anyways man I love all you vidz and you got yourself a sub! =)
@kedf6556 Hej og tak for feedback. Du kigger simpelthen bare forbi Risskov når du er i området. Bare drop mig en mail. Der er så få chickpickers i DK så man tror det er løgn :-)
@tgmod thanks for your feedback. I was all new to chicken picking including hybrid picking. Country music and the whole paradigm behind that style was brand new territory to me - and such a pleasure to discover. Before this I only had a western guitar and the usual fireplace humming to simple chords era in my life (almost all of it) lol.
@lambadalasse Which instruction material did you start with or do you recommend from Doug Sevin. I have been clanking around trying to figure out chicken picking but im not getting very far. I need to find some beginner chicken picking stuff.
@tgmod yeah..the very first riffs were also a long story here...the hybrid picking and also getting the sound..I actually downloaded all usable licks and riffs from Youtube I could find - and took those I could see was realistic to rehearse for. After som months I jumped into instruction DVD's...first Forrest Lee Jr....he has some good licks for starters...and then Doug 7...he has some more advanced stuff.
You have a great talent for combining licks from other sources with your own to come up with something completely original. I know it takes a long time to put these kind of things together but I hope you will be able to post more soon.
@snoffess Heyyy Crippe. Thanks man. Nice of you. Hope u r doin fine with the new AC30 baby and to hear more from here soon on the tube...keep pickin' / Lars M
Great! My newest favorite. Man I gotta get those doug seven dvds. I've put it off too long. I've been playing over 15 years and I can't chicken pick like you. Thanks for sharing!
lovely playing and thanks very much for the backing tracks!

Just wondering, do you do any Jerry Reed type stuff too? He's kind of along this style too on some stuff.
Nice job, I watched a few of your vids and was impressed. I jam some blues, but not sure if I can hang with this lol.

hey!
I was wondering... did you find these licks by yourself? or did you find them on one of doug seven's dvd??? (which one?)
cause I'd like to learn this "song" :)
(I could probably figure it out by ear, but it takes time^^)
keep it up :)

Er selv lige startet på lidt Chicken pickin.
