every vehicle and character has different stats (speed, drift, etc.) and Funky Kong is the large character with the highest speed bonus in the game.

Btw it's not flame flyer but Flame Runner.

no. you're wrong. that mushroom is used there as part of the new strat.

they know that it's going to be a WR. They can race the WR ghost, and they have a pretty good idea of the splits they need for the WR. He used the second mushroom in that place so he would be able to hit the booster on the waving road area. Otherwise, he would have missed it and cost himself like 1-2 seconds. There is a reason for every shroomspot, you just have to look more closely than your assumptions.

I did some calculation. Without the big jump, you traveled half the circle, with the big jump, you traveled only the diameter, which is about 3.14x shorter. But the speed is merely 1.3x slower. Definitely a shortcut. Also, you can do 4 tricks on thw wary road.
