I have a Knoxx Spec Ops Stock attached to a Remington 870. The recoil is reduced a fair amount. You have to hold your cheek just above the stock or it slams into your cheek bone like you see in the video. Its not too bad but lifting your head up just a little keeps you from being jarred.. helps keep you focused on your target.
Good Vid. Put one on my Mossberg and removed it after firing a few rounds of buck and slugs. Slaps your cheek hard. Reminded me of shooting with a pogo stick. I wasted $110. Save your money and buy a LImb Saver.
I have the same stock on my Rem870 Police Magnum. I've went through 50 Winchester Super X slugs in one session and didn't experience any cheek slap. The manual does mention cheek slaps. They suggest that the stock be extended to the length you are still comfortable with. As far as my experience, it tames the recoil - especially with slugs. The negative was my trigger finger blistering from the trigger guard sliding back and forth.
I have been thinking to add the knoxx system to my mossy 500 but i have been getting alot of negative vibes about the stock pushing into he cheekbone cause of the spring in the grip..let me know how she shoots with full 00 buck
Ive heard mixed things about it. I dont really want to spend $100 to test it out. Im looking for a stock and Ive had several people say the recoil suppression on this type of stock isnt effective. Anyone test fired this kind specifically and maybe a different kind with some perspective?
Man I wish I had one of these for my Remington 700 n 7mm magnum cuz it kicks like an angry horse and there isn't any fliping give it is just a solid WHAM!
The Knoxx Spec-Ops stock is manufactured in two models: The recoil-reducing model which has two springs and the non-recoil reducing model (NRS model) which has no springs. The NRS model only offers adjustable length-of-pull. It sounds like you might have purchased the model without recoil-reduction. If by some chance you did purchase the recoil-reducing model, then you got a great deal! Knoxx claims that the NRS model could be upgraded to a recoil-reducing stock.
i got this from midway usa today for $56 cant wait to put it on my 870 is this one you got different then mine cause i seen one that was $130 whats the difference?
There are different opinions on the percentage of the recoil reduction due to many factors such as shotgun models, variances in weight due to various configurations & accessories, type of ammo, handling & stance. The biggest difference is how it affects your mind with things like flinching, recoil anticipation, and confidence. You just feel better which makes you hold and handle the shotgun positively.
No video will demonstrate the recoil reduction! You must actually fire a shotgun with a Knoxx Spec-Ops recoil-reducing stock to feel the difference and believe me, there is a difference! I fired over 50 Winchester Super-X slugs consecutively (as fast as I can reload) with my 870 Police Magnum with no pain, soreness, or fatigue on my shoulder. But of course, nothing is perfect - don't let your trigger finger rest on the trigger guard - after 50 rounds some skin peeled-off!
FYI, some comments here lead me to believe that maybe some of you are unaware that there is a difference between a Knox stock [no recoil reduction] and the stock in this video- I have this recoil-reducing SpecOps stock, and my bro has the same gun as I [both Rem 870 Tacticals] with a solid stock; huge difference with magnum slugs and buckshot, wrap the sling around my forward hand and I have even better control- very cool to see this in slo-mo!
I tried a knoxx stock on my Mossberg 590A1 and came home with a large bruise on my cheek. It was difficult to get a good sight picture and I didn't notice much recoil reduction or decrease in muzzle rise. It totally wasn't worth the price. I'm starting to think that it's impossible to reduce the recoil. Maybe you can redirect it, or slow it down, but there is no reduction. Only way possible is to reduce the load (reduced recoil). However, with good technique it's not necessary.
I just bought the NRS version of this stock. I'm still waiting for it in the mail. I chose the NRS because 12 gauge recoil in my opinion isn't that bad, and I don't like the fact that the gun moves during recoil. Like I said, it's just me, but I can't wait to get it and install it on my 870.
I can see that the action recoils but the stock/pistol grip don't. Why does it look like the front of the trigger guard is smashing your finger? Maybe I'm missing something but that looks potentially bad for your trigger finger.
@wewd the trigger guard does move a certain amount toward the pistol grip, it's not usually an issue as there's still plenty of clearance, however I was firing my Rem 870 one day and was holding it sloppily, my trigger finger was resting against the side of the guard and it chafed my finger pretty good.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If your not holding the gun correctly your an idiot and whatever stock you get isn't going to help your problem. Learn to hold your gun, then buy a better stock.
very good product, it feels like the shotgun is launching the bullet as if its from a slingshot rather than exploding and kicking you in the arms deff worth the $130
Closer than ~10 yards with ANY (or no) choke and bank on greater than a 4" spread , you'll be disappointed when you miss your target. Next time skip the movies, go to the range.
ignore the nay-sayers. this absolutely reduces "felt" recoil !!! it effectively turns a harsh "kick" into a "push" which not only greatly reduces wear and tear on the shoulder but also allows one to more quickly re-train aim onto ones target. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!!!
does this stock really reduce the recoil all that much? I've heard that it does a lot and I've heard you can't really tell the difference. I'm thinking of buying one.
I would say it doesn't remove all the recoil, there's still going to be a significant push to the shoulder, albeit not as jarring and discomforting as with a normal stock. I was shooting lots of buckshot last week with my Moss 590 w/specops stock and wasn't sore at all afterward. But there's still a good amount of kick and if you're not holding the weapon correctly, you can still get hurt.
"Does this stock really reduce the recoil all that much" etc.
I feel a bit of of a fraud answering that question, because I've only fired two shotguns in my life. However one was fired immediately after the other and the recoil of the 1 1/8 ounce birdshot loads in the side-by-side was a hell of a lot more noticeable than in the semi-auto.
I imagine the Knoxx stock does the same as the semi-auto: it simply spreads the shock over a longer time, making it more comfortable.
yeah i agree with you. i have this stock on a shotgun i use for hunting. i have tactical training also, but this works very well in thick swamps when you are stalking game that is typically on the move and u need to put multiple shots on target. at 125 yards with slugs this gun will drive nails with rapid firing.
Reducing recoil on a shotgun isn't necessarily controlling accuracy but instead on ensure faster sighting of the target. With a shotgun you only need to be close unless your using slugs.
Keep in mind that this stock is marketed towards LE and the Armed Forces, and as such being able to target the subject/object faster is what matters....especially since the main load would be buckshot.
i was thinking of skeet shooting were every bit of accuracy counts. and yes i know its a shotgun and i know it shoots birdshot buckshot slugs and even been bags if you want to.
and when you can hit something at 50 yards with a slug, well that doesnt sound like theres not accuracy in there some were does it
I saw somewhere that this stock is supposed to reduce buckshot recoil to around .223 levels, but it looks like you're getting knocked around WAY more than .223 would.
o ya, this stock kicks ass, i never shot loads that made it suppress that far, i got a red dot sight and have been hit in the face tho from "missgudging" the recoil suppression
if u got a mossberg i got one u could buy, check the vid of my shotgun, i wanna sell all the 3rd party parts off it, it has the spec ops stock and hogue grip to match. hit me up if u want anything u see in the vid, except the reciever and long barrel, i'll even hook it up through ebay if u like but i aint listen parts unless i know 4 sure some1 wants it. i know people mark spam when sellin shit is mentioned but im just wantin enuf $ for a 38 or 357 revolver, ill put the shotty bak 2 a birdy gun
when you clean the gun, do you have to remove the pistol grip (PG)??? Because i have seen some PG that get in the way of the trigger assembly (or Fire Control Group).
I have it with the powerpack and high check rest installed and that reduced the check slap a lot
