Just watching this is making me want to have a heart attack. I'm overweight, not obese, but the most exercise I get is standing for hours and walking at work. My diet isn't terrible; I've maintained my weight for quite some time and my diet's fluxed between eating hardly anything to eating nothing but treats to eating balanced meals and back again. I think the missing puzzle piece here is the exercise, and these look like very simple, very effective activities.

This video does show some pretty unique exercises for basic strength building. Good at home workout. However has little to do with fat loss. To lose fat, create a calorie deficit by decreasing your portions/eating better foods, and doing 20+ minutes of cardio. That's it. You can't spot reduce fat in any area by doing triceps extensions, but it will make them more firm by building muscle. Regardless, it'll be fairly successful in losing some fat just because it makes you stay active 20+ minutes.
@truekoreanlover That's ... true in some sense. The problem is that strength training is in short bursts and I'm not saying that strength training won't burn calories, or that cardio (though depending on type of exercise will utilize more muscles and improve cardiovascular system simultaneously) burns more calories. I'm just talking about a calorie deficit. You normally eat more calories than you burn off through exercise. Bullshit/speculation aside, it doesn't matter. You need to do both.
@truekoreanlover (continued) it's just my opinion that given the choice between weight training and cardio, I'd chose cardio. It's more effective just due to the likeliness you will overtrain yourself through vigorous weight-training done every day vs. cardio, and cardio exercise is beneficial in more than just strength gains. I'm sure you and others will disagree, but that's just my take on it. You need both, but if you have limited time and can't achieve both, go for cardio until you can.
I'm not voicing an opinion. Simply stating a fact both trainers and scientists have proven to be true.
The majority of cardio, in essence, is supposed to prep one for weight training.
In nearly every category, an equal time of weight training burned more calories than cardio.
Cardio, especially running, has also proven to be worse depending on how much excess fat you have. Every "sudden bounce" from running damages tissues and increases aging.
@truekoreanlover Cardio is not a prep for weight training. Light strength training is not nearly as effective as cardio. Your argument has lost all reason. Done plenty of research myself and I can find reliable references that will "prove" either is better. It really depends on the stress you're putting on your body and which muscles are being used. That running increases aging is ridiculous. Statistics give you numbers, not results from people who use proper form and don't run on concrete.
@truekoreanlover I'm not arguing this anymore. It's pointless. They both aid in fat loss. Aerobic exercise trains our bodies to burn/utilize fat more efficiently, resistance exercise maintains muscle while burning calories and muscle uses more calories than fat. It doesn't matter and you're not providing any evidence to support your mentioned scientists. I've probably read their findings and dismissed them due to lack of physical study to back their claims in anyway. This is my last post on this

@krk1211 football doesnt help you lose weight, trust me i would know, i play professionally and train 5 days a week. nothing will make you lose weight other than cardio, food plan, and most importantly 8 hours plus night sleep

It's absolutely possible that this man has lost a lot of weight so far, and he's still a work in progress (trying to lose more). I saw another video, where the woman had wide hips, and she was giving tips on how to lose weight. A lot of people made jokes about her wide hips. But she wrote in the description that she had lost 72 lbs. and was going for more.
I completely agree with you. I've seen many videos, where the people giving the advice, were still losing weight and still on diets. But, they had lost a lot of weight, so far. Because they proved it work for them, they wanted to share their advice. Did it mean they were finished dieting and were exactly the weight they wanted to be? No. They're basically working-out together with any of us who are trying to lose weight, so we're doing it together. I give him a lot of credit.

@IIF34RII you've gotta run afterward. Do a high intensity run/walk type, then do a moderate exercise for 30 mins (like walking). It's supposed to help you lose weight faster (and it does). Cause this workout alone won't help you. The running and eating right will.
Be very careful with this exercise if you have a bad back. I'm going to try the one in which you crawl on your hands and feet. This exercise will really help you get a tight core.

This video does show some pretty unique exercises for basic strength building. Good at home workout. However has little to do with fat loss. To lose fat, create a calorie deficit by decreasing your portions/eating better foods, and doing 20+ minutes of cardio. That's it. You can't spot reduce fat in any area by doing triceps extensions, but it will make them more firm by building muscle. Regardless, it'll be fairly successful in losing some fat just because it makes you stay active 20+ minutes.

The problem is that strength training is in short bursts and I'm not saying that strength training won't burn calories, or that cardio (though depending on type of exercise will utilize more muscles and improve cardiovascular system simultaneously) burns more calories. I'm just talking about a calorie deficit. You normally eat more calories than you burn off through exercise. Bullshit/speculation aside, it doesn't matter. You need to do both.

@truekoreanlover (continued) it's just my opinion that given the choice between weight training and cardio, I'd chose cardio. It's more effective just due to the likeliness you will overtrain yourself through vigorous weight-training done every day vs. cardio, and cardio exercise is beneficial in more than just strength gains. I'm sure you and others will disagree, but that's just my take on it. You need both, but if you have limited time and can't achieve both, go for cardio until you can.

I'm not voicing an opinion. Simply stating a fact both trainers and scientists have proven to be true.
The majority of cardio, in essence, is supposed to prep one for weight training.
In nearly every category, an equal time of weight training burned more calories than cardio.
Cardio, especially running, has also proven to be worse depending on how much excess fat you have. Every "sudden bounce" from running damages tissues and increases aging.
Light or vigorous, strength wins.

Done plenty of research myself and I can find reliable references that will "prove" either is better. It really depends on the stress you're putting on your body and which muscles are being used. That running increases aging is ridiculous. Statistics give you numbers, not results from people who use proper form and don't run on concrete.

Aerobic exercise trains our bodies to burn/utilize fat more efficiently, resistance exercise maintains muscle while burning calories and muscle uses more calories than fat. It doesn't matter and you're not providing any evidence to support your mentioned scientists. I've probably read their findings and dismissed them due to lack of physical study to back their claims in anyway. This is my last post on this

I've actually helped train a lot of people as well and my girlfriend has lost the 40 lbs she's been trying to lose for years with my help. Assuming something about a person online is likely the lowest form of insult. You can't get to someone that you don't know that way. It's absolutely possible that this man has lost a lot of weight so far, and he's still a work in progress (trying to lose more). I saw another video, where the woman had wide hips, and she was giving tips on how to lose weight. A lot of people made jokes about her wide hips. But she wrote in the description that she had lost 72 lbs. and was going for more.

I completely agree with you. I've seen many videos, where the people giving the advice, were still losing weight and still on diets. But, they had lost a lot of weight, so far. Because they proved it work for them, they wanted to share their advice. Did it mean they were finished dieting and were exactly the weight they wanted to be? No. They're basically working-out together with any of us who are trying to lose weight, so we're doing it together. I give him a lot of credit.

@IIF34RII you've gotta run afterward. Do a high intensity run/walk type, then do a moderate exercise for 30 mins (like walking). It's supposed to help you lose weight faster (and it does). Cause this workout alone won't help you. The running and eating right will.
