Personally I think electrocuting rabbits is not the most humane way to slaughter them, I think wringing or broomsticking their necks is much faster and if you eat the meat AND use the fur, none of the animal is wasted.

Actually they suffer way worse because of other animals. In nature animals are really brutal towards each other, even to their own species. They steal food from each other and viciously attack and kill any outsider. Animals don't live in some Disney movie where they are all friends. In the wild they are have no compromise and predators sometimes take pretty long time to kill them. Witness how a group of lions overpower a gnu and tear it to pieces.
Havent you guys ever seen how cows and chickens and all famed animals are killed?? i've seen allot of slaughters and this is no different. they jump and twitch about because all of their blood is draining from their bodies, and their muscles are shutting down due to lack of oxygen rich blood. This can be demonstrated by butchering an animal straight after slaughter, the muscles in the skin twitch fast even when its in pieces, but that doesnt stop you lot eating your burgers and hotdogs.

It's been known for over a century. Since the mid 19th century I believe, when a scientist submitted the detached legs of a frog to electrical current and watched the legs spasm.

If people hav rights then animals should have rights too. People can talk, have thumbs etc but we rely on people to tell them what to do. Animals know how to do alot of thingswithout help

So, my cat just killed a young rabbit yesterday. She put it in our yard near the house and just left it there. Didn't eat it, just killed it for sport. I'm so pissed at my cat I think I might stage a protest against her. Or torture her so she'll learn her lesson. What should I do???

Every living thing is special and equal. Rabbits own a special place in my heart, before i got mine my life was dark and sad, now with them they make the sun come out! To see this, its apauling. I wish that people would stop eating rabbits, they get it bad enough in the wild :(

I'm not a vegatarian and I'm not an animal rights activist, but that is truly disgraceful. They should really be properly treated before slaughter, not chucked and dragged around. I also hate the fact that those animals are dying for their fur alone, when rabbit meat is so delicious. If they are dying, it should be humanely and not wasteful.

Oh, whatever. How is it different from the cows we eat and the leather we use to make our shoes and clothes. Bottom line... we've all been disconnected from the reality of what it takes for survival. Actually they suffer way worse because of other animals. In nature animals are really brutal towards each other, even to their own species. They steal food from each other and viciously attack and kill any outsider. Animals don't live in some Disney movie where they are all friends. In the wild they are have no compromise and predators sometimes take pretty long time to kill them. Witness how a group of lions overpower a gnu and tear it to pieces.

Havent you guys ever seen how cows and chickens and all famed animals are killed?? i've seen allot of slaughters and this is no different. they jump and twitch about because all of their blood is draining from their bodies, and their muscles are shutting down due to lack of oxygen rich blood. This can be demonstrated by butchering an animal straight after slaughter, the muscles in the skin twitch fast even when its in pieces, but that doesnt stop you lot eating your burgers and hotdogs.

I'm not part of PETA, but I agree that this is inhumane to kill animals slowly. Hunters at least make the deaths of animals quick with a gunshot to the head (unless they are seriously derange). It would be better to shoot the animal in the head than cut is throat.

Even if the rabbits were still conscious (which they are not), the fact that their throat is slit means that they will only be conscious for about 30 seconds at the most before they pass out from blood loss.

i'm not saying this is ok at all. but the twitching isn't from them being conscious...it's just their nerves firing, like if you chop off a chicken's head, the body still twitches etc. although the behavior of them trying to right themselves up on the hangers is a sign that they are not knocked out. animal science major here.

Animals are caged more often than humans, and yes humans are treated with the same level of cruelty, but not sure if more or less than animals.
Anyway sometimes kindness to a human starts with kindness to animals. To fix human starvation, government has to be fixed, not just pure donations. In Africa, donated goods are stolen.

Don't people realize that electrical current triggers muscles? If you've ever experienced one of those prank shock toys, you'll know that it causes rapid contraction and relaxation of your muscles. It's been known for over a century. Since the mid 19th century I believe, when a scientist submitted the detached legs of a frog to electrical current and watched the legs spasm.

i dissagree with a lot of people here... i would argue that there is not a problem with using fur, but rather that the fur industry is often wasteful and careless in its methods. meat is a required source of food, (tho people eat far to much of it) fur is useful in the making clothing bedding etc, bone, marrow and animal fat all have uses as well. in a more ideal world we should use all of these parts every time an animal is slaughterd and not waste. -this is nessisary life feeds on life-

I'm a hunter, I've killed a few rabbits in my time, but this... There is no honour, or reason for/in killing these rabbits.
When I kill something it is for food, and I keep the fur to line a hat or something but this made me sick, and angry.
I always make sure to get the job done, there is no sense in causing undue harm in any creature... not even the rats I find in my shed!
If people want a fur coat, then get a filet knife and make your own! This slaughter is unethical, and unnecessary.
