hollywood has really ran out of ideas because this movie seems like a rip off from the immortal in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Same concept but different actors ugh

Actually, the movie The League Of Extraordinary gentlemen is kind of a rip off of this; if you look in the description to that movie, it's written as "a group a famous literary characters join forces to save the world" or something along those lines. The character Dorian Gray was based on the 1981 book "The Picture Of Dorian Gray" written by Oscar Wilde. So in hindsight, this Dorian Gray is a better Dorian Gray than the one you're talking about because this one is more accurate.

More than just taking artistic license, I think the casting director and the film's producers chose an actor who, in essence, will be able to give a convincing performance as a very handsome, very vain, very hedonistic young man. It really doesn't matter what the hair color is. Ben Barnes has the looks to pull it off.

Johnny Depp should've played Lord Henry i think, Colin Firth just doesn't seem right to me. Ben Barnes does look good as Dorian though, although I always imagined him as blonde, as he is in the book.

I certainly do not agree with you. When I first read the book I imagined exactley someone like Colin for Lord Henry. Johnny Depp is too...I don't know...his face doesn't fit with Lord Henry from the book. But I am a huge Johnny Depp fan too, but in my opinion Colin Firth is better to play in this movie :D

I really love the book and I'm a great fan of Oscar... But I don't think Ben is a good Dorian. I think he isn't handsome and above that just doesn't fit the roll... :( I'm really dissapointed.... I don't know who they had taken than as Dorian.. I would say Bosie, haha, but that's impossible.. :P

No, I think this portrait was "transformed" by someone using Sean Townsend's image from "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". I'm sure Dorian Gray's portrait will be very different in the movie (probably more breath-taking and more the way you are envisioning it!)- this was the only portrait-type image I could find of Ben to use for my video. SK;-)
