Was Derby a butt-lander? My red belly parrot had similar tail feathers when he was a baby because he wouldn't stop landing on his butt after flight :P
@GREENMANmjau Only when her feathers are clipped. Otherwise she lands perfectly. But when she's fully feathered she doesnt land long enough for me to grab her. At least when she knows she's been naughty. and those Meyers are pretty naughty. LOL
I'd be nervous about the dog being near, though. One clumsy or jealous move and it'd be tough on your bird. Pet birds know little fear, even the healthy kind.

And I had to give him away because my older son was a toddler at the time and almost got his finger bit. We told him not to put his fingers near or on the cage and he did anyhow. Stubborn.
I had a Meyers Parrot I named Hans. I handfed his clutch, and his brothers name was Franz. I ended up giving Hans to an old high school buddy of mine. I miss him.

That dog is SO incredibly well-behaved - you've got a good girl there. :)
I love how gentle she is around the parrot - doesn't grab for the toy, just gets up and walks away when the parrot comes for it, etc.
