  • GRAMMY NOMINATION! FUCK THE HATERS!

  • I actually LOVED the Starfucker album, one of my favorites of the year. But that's fine, it's yo opinion. :)

  • I'm starting to think Anthony fantano is bi-polar and not the good kind anyway lol

  • he starts taling about the album in min 2.30.. screw you

  • KRAFTWERK!

  • @gazebackinanger love it bought the shirt

  • Let's admit Zonoscope is nowhere near In Ghost Colors. I was dissapointed a little by this album.

  • Loving the album. Also loving Pala by Friendly Fires, which you should review.

  • @opollis PALA is fucking genius if you get a chance to see them live you will not be dissapointed it was soooo good.

  • I don't see how you can give this album a 5/10, citing characterless vocals and lack of experimentation as reasons for the low score, then give Holy Ghost!'s album an 8, especially considering they are both the same dance-pop-type records. Don't get me wrong, I did like many of the songs on HG's album, and I know it's 'just opinions' etc, but at least be consistent, or it just looks like selective judgement, rather than objective.

  • Drop some acid and listen to the entire album from start to finish. (*recommended*)

  • this guy is a grade A douchebag

  • Actual review starts at 1:44.

  • Cut Copy reminds me a LOT of Erasure.

  • DID YOU SAY STARFUCKER? I LOVE EM' Y'ALL SHOULD PAY SOME ATTENTION EM' K BYE HONEY

  • Cal just standing there in the dark opening and closing that cupboard...kinda creepy

  • Essentially all you have done here is read the NME album review and fleshed it out in a video blog with some of your own ideas.

The similarities are more than a coincidence in my opinion

  • Hey man, you should so set up your own website...

    i-know-sh*t-about-music-dot-com

  • @losingmyedge83 hey man u no opinion

  • The opening song Need You Now sounds heavily influenced by Europe Endless from Kraftwerk...

  • YARCH TO THE MASSES

  • @arabianzeppelin I'm pretty sure you don't know shit about music.

  • I hated it when streaming it through Twitter but I listened to it a few more times in hopes that something, anything would grow on me about it. Unfortunately nothing did. Looks like I'll have to listen to In Ghost Colours and Bright like Neon Love and hope they go back to their Daft Punkish roots. If they don't then I guess I'll have to call it now:

    Cut//Copy: 2001 - 2008

  • .pause then press 1,8,2,9

  • I really like this album.

  • Pause at 3:13

  • The Crystal Castles album really was quite mediocre.

  • @HiResDez You too, you beast! You cut me deep with that slight. Give me a stereo and half an hour and I'd prove to you how wrong you are.

  • Ah, first Crystal Castles, now this: Mr Fantano, yet again you've cut me to the Core! This was a very solid review in its teasing out of Cut Copy's situation in relation to their influences and sounds, and the not to the "physicality" of some tracks, but a 5? Could it perhaps be that your trotting through the snow, braving the cold, and a summery Australian synth-pop album feels Indecent? Surely songs like "Pharoahs & Pyramids", "Corner of the Sky" and "Need You Now" warrant higher, structurally

  • where does cal chuchesta sleep? well more importantly does he sleep or on what?

  • where does cal chuchesta sleep?

  • you should review in the aeroplane over the sea - neutral milk hotel

  • Personally, I'm not bothered about influences and all that when it comes to an album like this. What matters for me is the tunes, and there are loads of great ones here. Need You Now is the best song they've ever done, and Pharaohs & Pyramids is also fantastic. In fact the whole first half of the album is brilliant. Second half takes a few plays to get into (apart from the awesome Sun God) but there's nothing 'bad' here. After IGC I half-expected Zonoscope to be a let down, but I totally love it

  • CUT // COPY :D

  • Zonoscope is a fantastic album, how could you give it a 5 out of 10. The album is very psycadelic and treads some new ground that Cut Copy have not explored before. The best track on the album is Pharohs & Pyramids, which sounds like a Middle Eastern inspired Rave!!!

  • @simomacca12 yea i disagree with the score but i went a listneed to it and loved it. i just put up a review lol

  • @simomacca12 I don't think CC go out and explore that much, though I do think they've refined their sound. I agree that Pharaohs & Pyramids is the best track (that percolating beat is musical gold). Most of all , I think 5 out of 10 is ultra-way too harsh. I'd give it a 7.5/10 at the very least.

  • @simomacca12 i'm a big cut copy fan but zonoscope isnt very good

  • @simomacca12 Anthony does not have to like it because someone else thinks it's a great one. It's his opinion.

  • @simomacca12 that's my favourite track too!!

  • I thought the starfucker album was pretty decent, reminds me alittle of passion pit or perhaps a really zaney radio dept ...just not as good as either, i can't see it occupying me much longer (people who haven't heard of The radio Dept... they're amazing!)

  • just because something isn't experimental does NOT make it bad. i gave it a listen, it's very catchy, very nice, clean, polite and shiny.

Cut Copy is not a disgrace or pisspoor. i think right now Cut Copy is just at the wrong place at the wrong time. There's TOO many 80's revival bands so the sound starts to get monotonous when you hear it a lot, but take one alone at a time and you start to see the signatures.

  • Com Truise, been saying it. If you aren't tired of the 80's like you say you are, than Cyanide Sisters should be the next thing you review!

  • I'm sorry but this music is pisspoor.

  • RUBY COAST!!!!!! XD

  • Review Danger Days - MCR

  • STARFUCKER!!!!!

  • thanks for that nathan barley

  • Do you ever get into a threesome with your girlfriend and Cal.. all sharing the same flat an' all..?

  • all of these wanna-be retro New Wave 80's bands just sound like they would do anything to make out with Morrissey.

  • Kraftwerk =D

  • after stalking your last.fm page briefly, i think i can safely predict James Blake for tomorrow's review.

  • hahahahaha.

    oh, cal. xD

  • let's ALL review the new james blake.

  • Any chance of reviewing The Meads Of Asphodal - "The Murder Of Jesus The Jew"? It was released around November last year. It is one of the most bonkers albums I have heard in along time. Check it out. I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts on it.

  • I agree, and review the new strokes single?

  • Review the new Yuck album please Anthony.

  • plz plz plz review the new Akron/Family

  • jamesblakejamesblakejamesblakejamesblake

  • The disgrace of Australia. Just Jokes, check out Tame Impala. Probably the best band out now.

  • @arabianzeppelin disgrace?? ohh, that's a little harsh. i think shane warne is disgracing us a little more horrendously at the moment. I live right near him & Ch 7 are camped out on the nature strip. How embarrassing.

  • @yvettemadelaine I feel for you. But i meant in music. But yeah Shane Warne is a major douche.

  • @arabianzeppelin well yes....I still think there are worse. but I agree 100% with you on about Tame Impala.

  • @arabianzeppelin nahh. that title goes to short stack

  • @arabianzeppelin are you joking? I saw Tame Impala when they opened for MGMT and two of my friends fell asleep on the lawn.

  • @TheAndyWyatt1000 I'm pretty sure you and your friends are dickheads.

  • I think you should review Gypsy & The Cat and their album Gilgamesh. It's another synth-pop duo with nice vocalization. So far this year, it has been one of my favorite albums.

  • I have to really disagree here. Even with so many bands going with the synth-pop direction, I think Cut Copy manages to take this album one step further than "In Ghost Colours". If you look at their progression they seem to have taken what they're good at and just made it crisper, cleaner and catchier. It may be a cop out to just stick with what's hot, but in this style, it either comes off cheesy or well constructed. I think Cut Copy remains the perfect architect for how to do it well.

  • Cut Copy didn't impress me that much, but Starfucker's new album did. My biggest complaint about Reptilians is that "Born", the first track on the album, sounds like it almost shouldn't be there, at least not as the first song. I love that heavy bass on "Julius" and just the general sound of "Bury Us Alive", even if it does get a bit repetitive.

  • Review the Tim Hecker, Review the Yuck, Review the James Blake, review the devotchka

  • I was looking for a way to download this album. This review has me thinking otherwise.

  • I don't think I'll like it that much. I love their second album though.

  • Australia!

  • Can you please review the new Strokes single (Undercover of Darkness).....thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • This guy's remind me very much of Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears & all those 80's alternative band's that there inspired by. And i think it's cool there keeping those sound's and music like that alive

  • I actually liked this album a lot. I'd give it at least a 8/10 if not a 9/10. but that's just my opinion.

  • I thought this album is great, i personally love the whole new wave sound of cut copy

  • You are so funny.

  • REVIEW THE NEW MOTORHEAD ALBUM ITS OUT TODAY!!!!!!!!!

  • review the new David Lynch album or the dancing midget will haunt you in your sleep.

  • horrible review. I respect your opinion but giving this album only a few spins does not suffice. This album needs multiple listens to fully appreciate it.

  • You should review The Streets new album

  • Pitchfork is everything.

  • can you review the new AKRON/FAMILY please?

  • Will you review the new Bright Eyes?

  • BUT PITCHFORK GAVE IT BEST NEW MUSIK!!!

  • Kraftwerk...very nice, and strategically placed.

  • I'm so sick of 80s retro music

  • @KOB245 I'm not, but this album is making me consider it.

  • @theneedledrop the retro thing is getting a bit hackneyed in general.

  • @KOB245 : +1, but it can be so gud when done properly.

  • @KOB245 I'm so sick of Rap, RnB and all other crappy ghetto music for over 15 years now.

  • I agree for the most part but probably would have rated it a little lower. I have an unabashed love of synthpop but this record really doesn't do it for me. Oooh, you should review the Esben and the Witch album next!

  • Review Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground's new LP "Introducing Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground" please. It just came out today in fact.
