This was my first full day of driving for the Regiment. That was along drive down the night before from Chicago to West Chester. It was the start of an epic journey along with my favorite corps!
Oh, and you better believe that I caught some of the rehearsals!
-my guess is the dutting is for them to get the tempo in their head and to work on their tonguing. and they actually dut 6 times, and have the last count to breathe before the entrance
-and when you think about it, you don't really have all that time during the show to breathe before an entrance, and 1 count is all you should need to fill your lungs. I've talked about breathing in music classes at college
-and yes, it was LOUD, but very beautiful as always. great hornline!
is it just me or does there visual package look like poopy? I know it's early in the season, but this just looks rough, at least from this camera angle.
I will say that it looked better that night when they were in their uniforms. I think that by the end of the season, it's gonna look awesome. Other corps are doing a hell of a job this year too, so my bet is that Phantom probably won't repeat this year, but they still have an awesome show.

it gets them thinking about what they are going to do with the tongue movements and where the need to be placed.

Why does this hornline dut for 4 counts leading into an entrance (1:48)? Seems like a lost opportunity to breathe and fill up a full 4 counts prior.
5:40 to 7:40 - i like the old 2 valve warmups (open, 2, 1, 1+2, then back up). Would want all 4 counts to breathe going into it though.
Also since this hornline is causing your mic to go out, it is apparent that they are taking up dynamic levels where they ought to be :)
