Amazing that Beethoven composed this, while completely deaf. (I read his biography). He conducted the first performance of the piece. After the completion, one of the band members had to turn him around, to see the thunderous ovation from the audience.
The fact that Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga and the Jonas brothers (or other trash that is called modern music) can get literally a thousand times as many views as this video is... unspeakable.
This music is just.. phenomenal. I'm in tears right now. Its such a beautiful piece filled with so much feeling. There is no way to appreciate better than with this beautiful and wonderful orchestra, respecting and recreating the beautiful masterpiece he composed so long ago. BRAVO!
I live in Dublin Ireland, so all the seats are given to the rich and well dressed !!! , I have no hope of attending a perfomance before i die ,unless I become an Irish Politician or a gangster which are one and the same here in Ireland. Pearse Doran.
Beautiful music, truly wonderful... there are no words that can describe the beauty of this music ahhh :) Does anybody know in which year this was produced?
Who the F is that terrible bass? After such a wonderful lead in. Neither depth of tone, character nor ability. Wrong notes, light tone, no gravitas, no convincing of the audience. Sounded like a light baritone fresh from the Freshman year choir except he has no hair. GOOD LORD! (the rest was great!)
I saw this symphony back in April and was absolutely floored. Watching a video on youtube gives no credence to the amazing and awesomeness (translated as fear) that this classic gives when the chorus mass hits you like a wall of sound. Like the person below me said, this should be on your bucket list.
@ff621 i've been shearching to attend a performance for e very long time now, but just can't find one.(live in belgium) o well, i'll search untill i find a concert! you're absolutely right, one MUST see or at least hear the 9th before his life is over...
The way to lead a music performance is very important, because there is a sort of dialogue between the conductor and the players. I'm not a great composer or else, but It can be explained in this way; If in a great restaurant, the leader of the cook Unit is very experienced and skilled, then his talent will spread through his assistants and the dishes will be delicious. ; )
Wow this is faster than all the other performance's I've listened to

I like the orchestra and the conductor..
But the soloists suck, and they have no harmony between them..

ok, so im going to sound ignorant, which i am (having only recently discovered my love of classical music.
but can someone please enlighten me as to the purpose of the conductor?
does it really make much difference who conducts?
I mean.. could you otell the difference?
i know this is probably a faux pas to ask.. but i do love music so very much and I am interested in any answers...
thank you.
