  • my kathak teacher

  • wow very good... Hemant Panwar's voice sounds fantastic in sheesh gang ardhang parvati on which you are dancing gracefully.

  • @vaishnavip

Hi, this is sung by Rajan Sajan Mishra

  • @Deepika1001 From 1.57 to 3.18 , it is Hemant Panwar's voice. This invocation was recorded in Delhi for Abhay ji

  • Hi, i checked with my Guruji and he confirmed it is sung by Rajan Sajan Mishra from 'Shiv Bhaktimala' album. The voice over is Abhayji saying kavitt only.

  • @Deepika1001 Yes this composition is of Rajan and Sajan Mishra - two great artists of India who sing duet. To use it for dance purpose, this was recorded in Hemant Panwar's voice( Vocalist, Kathak Dancer, Teacher) in 2000- 2001.you can hear his voice online album - creator or simply listen to rajan sajan mishra ji on available videos on you tube and then compare this musical piece of your video 1.57 to 3.18. you will get all your answers.

  • Just type in google - soul stirring bhajans of Hemant Panwar - hear his album - The Creator ( preview is available) compare it back to 1.57 to 3.18 - When due credit is not given to artists of present then only generation of kathak enthusiastic will find so many recordings in archive section with label " unknown artist'. let us all acknowledge the contribution of our fellow artists

  • He looks like really good teacher. was watching his other videos, amazing dancer. want to learn from him but is he only based in London? Does he come to India, I saw his video of interview here in Delhi, does he teach here also?

  • Hi Gauri, Guruji has a performance in Delhi around the 31st August, so you can meet him then, details will be up shortly on his website. As for teaching, he only teaches in London, and visits Delhi often , but you could perhaps book some classes. As for his relation to Maharajji, Yes he is related to Maharajji as his sister is Maharajji's wife, therefore Maharajji is his brother in law. But Abhayji doesn't disclose this as he considers his relationship as a disciple much more significant.

  • My dance teacher =]

  • who is the codancer?

  • Kakoli Shankar Mishra, his wife

  • Heya, she is Kakoli and I had the pleasure of learning kathak from her. She is an amazing dancer and received the same training as her husband Abhay Shankar Mishra. I saw them both perform at the bhavan and they were so good together.

  • Hi there Loveleenguru. Yeah they perform well together but I have to make one correction...she has not recieved the same training as him!! This is factually incorrect. He is one of the few artists that has actually been intensely trained by world renowned Guru's in ALL THREE gharana's of Kathak, whereas she has learnt Lucknow only, so they have not recieved the same training and would be very incorrect to post this. He is very much her senior and she has also learnt some dance from him.

  • Aw thanks Deepika for correcting. I did not know that. I recall hearing the story of how they met & got married & understood that they had both received training from the same institution & so assumed that their qualifications were the same. I recal him telling me when he passed me to her for extra lessons that she was a better dancer than him & that I was privileged to be learning from her, which was really sweet & caring of him. Thanks for correcting- they r still wonderful dancers!

  • i think he is a better dancer! I saw his webiste, he is more higher than her, his wife got the sum wrong at the end of the dance, and she is a bit big and heavy looking, i heard he is related to Birju Maharaj, does anyone know if this is true?
