  • Kiki & Herb were brilliant performance artists. I am so glad I saw them live. Absolutely hillarious one second and then hauntingly introspective the next. LOVED THEM.

  • 8 people completely miss the fucking point.

Some people really do get the leaders and the world that their intelligence fucking warrants.

  • I never get tired of listening to K and H's version of Running Up That Hill. The best part: Tell me, we both matter, don;t we? Makes me cry every time. THanks, K and H for this unforgettable, emotionally loaded, melancholy, brilliant, thought-provoking, wrenching rendition. Bravo!

  • I saw them live at the Atlas Club in Los Angeles years ago, in the 1990's, and have loved them since. Sad that they won't reprise these characters. Brilliant!

  • I love Justin Vivian Bond!

  • Kiki & Herb c'est BRILLIANT...

    C'EST MAGNIFIQUE...

    C'EST FANTASTIQUE!

  • This is such an exceptional performance with so many layers and humor and sadness. I find it deeply touching and emotional. It is an incredible voice that has so many colours and emotions. Would love to have a drink with Kiki and Herb. "Its you and me - its you and me we won't be unhappy"

  • i actually really like this

you see to me Running Up That Hill (and Kate in general) is just something you should never try to cover cause you will severly ruin the song

Placebo's version is one of the reasons i don't like them

however i think this is the exception

  • Kate loves this

  • I saw Kiki and Herb in Philly the 13th of Sept 2001. They closed with this, "running up that building for you...". It was one of the most moving extraordinary moments of my life. They are AMAZING!!!

  • i have only just heard of kiki and herb today, and i find myself intrigued. makes me think of a stylised berlin camp a la Cabaret, that i wonder if they've ever done Brecht songs. i love Kate Bush, and Placebo disturbed me with their not-bad version, but Kiki and Herb have a clear and artistic agenda. i like what they do, though i could only take it in small bits, to be sure. anybody know if David Bowie has made any comment on these two? i could almost see/hear him doing something with them...

  • @Anifredk Um... no, it was written by Kate Bush in 1985 and covered by Placebo in 2003.

  • @Anifredk Kate Bush wrote this NOT Placebo

  • Kiki and Herb walk the fine line between the sublime and the ridiculous in popular music as adeptly as any performers I have ever seen. The Kiki persona is performance art at its very finest and most subtle.

  • In (slight) defence of all the Haters out there, it is difficult to understand the concept of Kiki & Herb just from a 5min clip...this song often comes at the end of one of their shows, when an audience has laughed, cried and roared for 2 hours.

I adore Kate Bush and yet the first time I saw Kiki shriek and wail this song live I was moved to tears.

Anyone who hates this, I challenge you to see Justin Bond live and then we'll talk...

  • She reminds me of my mother and her friends

  • if anyone's ever seen Kiki and Herb perform you get it....they're hysterical

  • Yes. They are amazing live! Surreal, hilarious and insightful.

  • If Judy Garland were still alive and smoke 3 packs of cigarettes a day, that's what she would sound like. How can anyone remotely thinks that man/woman can sing?

  • certainly not a "nice" sounding voice...but the interpretation is brilliant! you do need to see this in the context of the whole show to really "get it' though...

  • Yet another major Kate fan, this is so wonderful. Best cover, really.

  • why oh why oh why are they no longer!!!!!!!!!

  • Simply beautiful!!!

  • suks, champutamadre horribolololo...jajajaa...

  • you just are too much of a sheep to appreciate it and you couldnt see passion and emotion if it hit you in the face

  • Such incredible performers. They own this song.

  • is this a drag queen? they can't sing. . .

  • yes and yes! That's the whole point dear!!! get with the programe.

  • such a wonderful cover seriously touches me every time i listen to it.

  • such a magnificient performance !!! his live interpretation shows how talented he is and his dare to improvise on a song like this. not only a cover though a disruptive piece of art...

  • Beautiful, Poignant... Kiki & Herb are such an amazing act.

  • I'm another huge Kate fan (since she first appeared) and I love this too. You have to keep in mind how this show works. They go through loads of known songs, including eminem(!?). The songs form a story, the mythical history of the two characters. At least that's what they did when I saw them. This character is meant to be a bit drunk and depressed at this point. They're also genuine Kate fans.

  • Purely and absolutely wonderful!!

  • LOL! Absolutely brilliant. :)

  • kate loves satire and this is awesome what a gorgeous queen, kiki you are va vdarling with a great pair of ......lungs lol:)

  • My tickets for kiki and herb the second coming at carnegie hall just came

  • how can anybody watch this and not see it for what it is? brilliant, camp and bitingly witty. these two have been doing this for so long now that they have become what they sought to saterise... a pair of tired old lounge performers.how post-modern.

  • um....they're not tired!

  • This is sooo absolutely fabulous :))

  • Those of you who hate it obviously don't get it. This is fucking brilliant. Viva Kiki! Viva la Herb!

  • he sings a bit flat really but i like it actually.and im a kb fan from way back.

  • "He?" But Herb only plays the piano!

  • jeez.. what a racket! i love kate bush, but this drag queen murders this song. no more please.....

  • drag queen?? DRAG QUEEN???

  • LOL, thumbs up! LOL again

  • love it! soooo much better than placebo's or within temptation's covers....in my opinion of course :p

  • Paddy, doll - that's the point of Kiki & Herb's whole shtick. Their live shows are some of the most perfect art known to mankind.

  • This video is hideous she looks like some drugged up drag queen on her last days out and worn out.

  • well, duh!

  • you mean like a tired, bitter queen who hates everything?

  • I forgot to mention: I've never heard of Kiki and Herb before.

  • I'm such a freaking Kate Bush fan, that I am actually checking all covers on Youtube.

And I like this one. True: it is over the top. But it is actually the first one I encounter that gives a new meaning to the song.

What I see is an alcoholic that, stereotypically, makes all kinds of promises that will never be fullfilled.

Such a different interpretation of helplessness from Kate's.

    I like it!

  • High Art!

  • Don't write this off. This is important because it's a truly GREAT cover. Instead of just karaoke-ing the original, this artist brings out the force and poignancy of the song with their own pared-down interpretation. This is one of the best covers out there.

  • Beautiful!

  • Absolutely divine.

    xxxxxx

  • unadulterated divinity... Kiki and Herb should be beatified now, since they can't die

  • how dare he!! ill make a deal with god to send him to hell right away!

  • I'm a MAJOR MEGA Kate Bush fan, and I just love this! It's hysterical! I bet Kate loves it, too. I'm just so glad Kiki and Herb added this great song to their repertoire.

  • Here's a second Kate Bush fan who LOVES this. I saw them do this live at Duckie's Kate Bush evening a couple of years ago. It was incredibly moving. You need to "get" where they are coming from - but even if you don't, I think it's obvious that he's an amazing singer.

  • I'm a Kate Bush fan and I'm not cringing

  • uforikboi; how stupid do you have to be to not realise that this is ironic?

  • I've been lucky to see Kiki (Justin Bond) in person for over a decade and always am stunned at the dark and comically twisted covers. If you ever get to see them live you'll plotz So brilliant.

  • You have to see them live to appreciate how wonderful they are. He's playing an aging drunken lounge singer so its supposed to be a bit crazed but his voice is amazing. x

  • excellent... "bande de vieux grincheux" (je parle pour ceux qui n'aiment pas) !

  • Amazingly BAD! They have to be drunk...

    LOL

  • it's beautiful. love their rendition... thanks so much for posting it.

  • So sad to hear a great Kate Bush song has been turned into a cheesy Vegas lounge nightmare.
