@legendair if ur referring to atlanta, El G had never beaten morceli, and hadnt yet reached his peak. while El G may have eclipsed morceli in legacy, he wasnt going to beat him here, not yet. Morceli merely made up for his mess up in barcelona, just like El G made up for his error in sydney. Morceli was great because he didnt need pacemakers and didnt have the benefit of teamates like El G. Morceli deserved atlanta 100%

I remember this race just if it was yesterday..Aouita was a hero to me and it was sad and humilating to see him go like that..this was the year when his age and injuries showed clearly in the race..he was fine till the last crazy lap that went in 51 when he couldnt keep up..when u get older and especially when u get injured the first thing that u lose is speed and the ability to react..if this rae was in 1985 Aouita would have blown everybody up
