I love Don Carlo and expecially this duet. When Rodrigo talks about Flander's War, with Verdi's music, you can see that, and understand the atrocity of that. Cappuccilli know how to underline that point... Very very beatiful!
This is really a great performance. I remember this evening quite well. Furlanetto was new in the cast, he came instead of Ghiaurov. Cappuccilli was Karajan's Posa through eleven years in Salzburg and Vienna. Nobody could do better in "pace dei sepolcri".
