i think these guys sounded awsome. considering no bonzo. but jimmy page sounds so good. jpj never better. and robert plant still sound as good as he ever did. top 3 bands all time. still.
I understand it was a tribute to their longtime friend and business partner Ahmet Ertegun, not a money making venture. I'm sure they are comfortable enough in life in any case!
In This Video Though, You Can Clearly Hear Plant Peaking And Then Not Peaking. He Is Tapping Into The 1979 Knebworth Sound With His Vocals Towards The End Of The Sound. The More Hard Hitting Zeppelin. From Listening To Them, And Seeing How They Held Up Here, I Believe They Could Do A Tour. But, They Won't. Again, Because Plant's Legal Obligations To Allison Krauss. And They Enjoyed Ending It On A Good Note.
There Is One Reason They Won't Tour: They Don't Want To Sell Out And Become A "Tribute Band" Of Themselves. They Want To Leave Their Legacy Untarnished. Or So They Tell Us Lol. So They Give Us Little Tasters Every Now And Then.
Led Zeppelin......thats all i have to say to describe what is a perfect band. The GREATEST FUCKING BAND EVER!! RIP John Bonham rest ur soul...but ur son is getting down......Fuck i wish they would of still had the tour going....i really want to see true gods of music
It's Jimmy Page who won't get off his lazy ass and get a DVD released. We all know he doesn't need the money, but for the sake of the fans, he really should get on with it.
Eh, I wouldnt say lazy, his catalog is actually just as big if not bigger then Plant's. and hes released tons of goodies for us Zepp heads....Led Zeppelin DVD, Song Remains The Same Special Deluxe Edition(i have both:D). I just think they should go on tour before another one of them ends up with Bonham.:(
there was a pro-quality recording, played on the background screen thing during the show. search for the Black Dog performance, there was a pro-shot clip shown on TV a few times, and there's clips of it on Youtube. id like to see it released, looks amazing.
One year ago today and what a roller coaster it has been. Thanks to everyone who dared incur the wrath of the Ghost of Peter Grant to bring the music to those of us not lucky enough to get tickets!
it's been confirmed by jones that they have been auditioning new singers and page confirmed that, unless plant changes his mind at the last minute (very doubtful), they won't be calling themselves led zeppelin.
I really doubt they'll ever tour. If they did, they would've got on it right after this show...but they didn't. This show was probably a one time only deal and the people who got to see this were & will prolly be the only lucky ones to have seen them play. Plant, Page, Jones, & Jason, are prolly busy through out the next several years of their lives. Right now was the time to do it but it didn't happen. The dvd of this show will most likely be the only way everyone will get to see them live.
plant if you're reading this then...TOUR GADAMMIT!!!
i almost went to london whitout a ticket all the way from sweden just to stand outside, but my stupid mother would'nt let me go to london just to stan outside a led zeppelin concert in december :P
I think you could tell which songs they practiced more, some of the songs weren't that great. But for you life, Kashmir, no quarter, trampled underfoot they were jam'n on those songs
That was so awesome..... 60-ish my ass, they can still kick ass and play better than some wanna bees today..... Pagey can still rip that guitar.... WOW!
Led Zeppelin is the best band ever, God bless them all. They have changed alot of peoples lives and this has gotta be one of the best songs by Led Zeppelin. God bless Led Zeppelin and God bless America.
LED ZEPPELIN THE GODS OF WAR. GREAT CONCERT REUNION IN LONDON! I miss John Bonham. GREAT to ahve his kid playing the DRUMS.. Sound like his POP! AWESOME TRIBUTE to BONZO! The beast on drums. He will never be equaled or surpassed! God Bless you John.
AWESOME TO HEAR LED ZEPPELIN so sharp, so tight and professional as always. THE BEST EVER!
I was there too. Travelled over from Spain specially for the gig. Watching this six months on and it still does exactly what it did that night - makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up! Absolutely MAJESTIC rock music.
Something about them being old now only makes them so much cooler, because they still sound perfect. It's like they're the elders of a gentle race the world has seldom seen that Robert sings about. I love Led Zeppelin.
I think it's fantastic that it was Jason Bonham there on drums. He's captured all the drive, power and passion that his dad used to put into the drums. It would be nice to think that the spirit of his father was sat on the monitor behind listening proudly to his sons performance. Wow, got a bit deep there!
i had the chance to see them at knebworth 79 but was young and foolish and had no idea who, what and how brilliant led zep were and were going to be led zeppelin rock
I was in the 9th grade in pe class ( news didnt travel as fast then, lol) when we got the news bohnam died. we all just sat down blown away.. esp since 7 shows at the la forum were going to go on sale in a week..LONG LIVE ZEP> RIP Bonzo he would be proud of jasons performance.
your an idiot, how old is he now-sixty something and his vocals sound pretty damn good to me. Zeppelin is hardrock if you don't have a strong vocalist in a hardrock group you're not so good. So are you trying to say, Led Zeppelin, who has sold some 250,000,000 worldwide is mediocre? Get the fuck outta here and pier eat me, you know you're full of shit.
Britney Spears has sold millions of albums - doesn't make it good music, numbskull. If you can't rebut an argument then go play in your sandbox and let the adults discuss the topic, dolt.
I never said album sales equals good music, I was merely trying to emphasize a point. You see unlike britney spears zeppelin has steadily sold albums over the years. They never road a sudden ground swell of success like that of britney. While Britney has sold many albums her success is fleeting and will not stand the test of time.
In addition Robert Plant is considered to be one of the all time best vocalists, and this not coming from me, this is coming from classic rock aficionados. So, while I appreciate your attempt at wisdom, you comment was wildly unfounded and quite lame.
Agree with you %100. Especially about having to have strong vocals. Have you heard of DragonForce? Amazing guitar, mediocre vocals. Although DragonForce's guitars make up for its vocals. You can still sometimes waver from this factor.
Does anyone remember talent? Can anyone really want to watch old guys who never really had skills fail at re-creating their has-been act, way into the 21st Century?
Fuckin' hell this guy is criticizing TALENT on a Led Zep video? Pier can get bent. Go talk shit on a My Chemical Romance video or whatever shit passes as "rock" these days.
shit.... just wow... im only 19 and cant say i ever had the honor or the privilege of watching zep live but of the entire catalog this song gets me the most every time!!!! no one has ever or will ever do it like them. makes me wish i was born earlier lol
man, Mr. Plant is so fuckin powerful. I wasn't born when they were big, but I know how powerful these guys were. Mr. Page looks like he's 110 years old.........lol.
Please come and stay in Sausalito and *** Play *** on Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay.
I will make it my lifes work to present Zed Zeppelin on the San Fancisco Bay *** AND ** the Blue Angles *** will be the warm up. It will be the ULTIMATE VENUE OF ALL TIME AND REMEMBERED a THOUSAND YEARS FROM NOW!
Seriously, Led Zep was/is the best band ever. This is truly amazing. Robert, Jimmy, Jonesy, and Jason, would you guys please tour? And hit St. Louis? Pretty please?
ZEP TOUR DATES! Jan 12th, Sea World, San Diego (double bill: Puppet Show & Led Zeppelin) Jan 19th, Scottsdale, AZ (V.F.W. Post 1877) Feb 16th, Boca Raton, FL (Valentine's Special/Daughters of American Revolution Hall) Mar 15, NY (Queens) ("Ides Idyll"/Abrams Senior Center, Bayside) Mar 29, CLEVELAND, OH ("End of Days" Tour Finale/Rutherford Hayes H.S. Arena)
Wow, some of these YouTubers are rough! Thought it'd be fun to see reactions, but I'll watch my spelling.
The fans who've taken a slagging for their honest views aren't wrong: we HAVE sounded better.
We did this one for Ahmet Ertegun, a visionary who gave us our start, and many other Rock and R&B acts: Aretha, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Booker T & the MGs, Yes, AC/DC, and Foreigner.
Remember what the music really means. Now where's that confounded bridge?
Shut the fuck up. Who are YOU to talk bad about these legends? You are pieces of shit on the bottom of their shoes.
Get a life....idiots!!!
I am pretty sure you wish you were up there doing what they are doing and also what they have accomplished.
They are playing live for a reason....and that reason is none of your fucking buisness!!! If you don't like it, WE/THEY don't give a flying FUCK!!!!.....fix your life.
NigelTufnellll...You've got to be the dumbest asshole of all time. These guys invented rock as we know it... You clearly don't know what the fuck you're talking about so just shut up and stop flaunting your stupidity. I also have a few helpful suggestions for you. Change you're name, it sounds stupid. Pull your head out of your ass. Don't have sex, and if you must, get a vasectomy first.
Are you mad because these bands are able to still play and rock the shit...and that most bands today would not be able to go on as long as these bands? If you're so mad about them performing...then why did you look up the video to watch it then?
Everyone's couching their praise, saying "pretty good for old guys," etc.
This is just plain embarrassing to watch. It's like watching Ali in all those sad comebacks. You knew that there was never a better boxer when he was in his prime, but to see him humiliated like that, well, it was just such a shame.
Kashmir is AMAZING ... Plant hits the high notes harder and with more ease than on the original. If you don't believe me, dig the old CD out and listen to it again,
You might be surprised,
He's clearer in tone and hits the high C harder and with more ease
This is one of the best songs from the recent concert.
Been reading a lot of very angry posts in our defense - well intended but not in the spirit of love & happiness that our music hopes to spread.
Besides that, there's some real truth to the criticism that honest fans have offered. We ARE older now, and I know that I can't scale those vocal heights the way I used to. That's just a part of getting old.
But please, let's remember the spirit of the music.
RobertAnthonyPlant1, I know you are not actually Robert Plant because he would never say something so moronic. That, and also the fact that Robert lives in England while on your page it says you live in USA... And while I'm at it, let me point out that Robert Plant has been in Led Zeppelin since about four decades ago and knows that it's ZEPPELIN not Zepplein. LOSER.
I ahree with you man. But Legendary status, such a horrible way of a great band ending. It gets to you; makes you want to end it as best as possible. I think Zeppelin did the right thing, somehow. It's the final chance to say goodbye before giving it in all together and moving on.
People gave me shit for wishing I could go to this show, insinuating that they would sound terrible.Fools! From what I can see by these clips, they are as hard rocking as ever!I was skeptical of Plant's vocal ability at his age, but he's still got it.
First you are one of the luckist people alive and thank you so very much for your great efforts to bring this to the Zeppelin lovers who couldnt be there...it is greatly appreciated...
second i was wondering...does Warner Bros own Zeppelin? and who the f*** is anyone to ban a vid from a BENEFIT concert?? in my opinion...the hearts of thier true fans own Zeppelin (aside from the obvious) and would have gladly paid to attend this BENEFIT concert, had there been 20 million+ seats available
Robert Plant said he really enjoyed doing the concert and they were considering doing more gigs more often, but i'm not sure if anything more shows have been planned at the moment, but what I do know is that this concert is coming out on DVD next year :)
margaux, why are you watching great musicains play shouldn't you be watching back street boys or insyc???. this great band is for the big boys. you stick to your ignorant bands and the rest of us will enjoy music like this from great rock gods!!!
LED ZEPPELIN,THE BEATLES AND PINK FLOYD no more. the best bands ever this world never will see something similar may be in 80000054672342 years

I saw Page and Plant play Kashmir and I saw Led Zeppelin play it in 77.
This version appears to be as good as any and maybe better because of equipment improvements.
If ever there was a song that defined the words "rock anthem" it would be Kashmir, or Achilles Last Stand.
That song has to be seen and heard to be believed.
I hope they play it when they tour.
We know they'll do Kashmir.

I saw them play 14-June-1977 in the greatest LZ venue, MSG.
Led Spinal Tap sound bad now. Washed-up has-been Jimmy Plagiarist should have stayed retired.
Instead, Plagiarist awakens folks to his bad playing and dated sound. It's all very post-Austin Powers-like.

If so, how dumb.
pier23ca 4 years ago
dude...you just watched it, and all the other 50 zep videoes uve been dissing
KCSpardue 4 years ago 2
Fuckin' hell this guy is criticizing TALENT on a Led Zep video? Pier can get bent. Go talk shit on a My Chemical Romance video or whatever shit passes as "rock" these days.
What an embarrassment. Fuck me!

wolfwoodphreak 4 years ago
man, Mr. Plant is so fuckin powerful. I wasn't born when they were big, but I know how powerful these guys were. Mr. Page looks like he's 110 years old.........lol.
Led Zeppelin are the greatest.

That's amazing that his voice still sounds so good. I mean of course he can't hit the freakishly high notes but it still rocks.

Peace,
R.A.P.

Really, this is Robert Plant?? Big fan if it's true. Great show, and may have sounded better, but you were a lot younger back then! (No offense!)

For everyone talking shit:
Shut the fuck up. Who are YOU to talk bad about these legends? You are pieces of shit on the bottom of their shoes.
Get a life....idiots!!!
I am pretty sure you wish you were up there doing what they are doing and also what they have accomplished.
They are playing live for a reason....and that reason is none of your fucking buisness!!! If you don't like it, WE/THEY don't give a flying FUCK!!!!.....fix your life.

These geezers need to trade in the desert sands for the green, green grass of OUT TO PASTURE.
Why can't all these rock legends -- Page, Plant, Clapton, The Strolling Bones -- walk away? Don't they realize how PATHETIC the look and sound?
Rock is a young man's game; leave the LIVE Led Zeppelin to the cover bands. Watch the REAL live Led Zeppelin on video from circa 1969-1979.

Don't have sex, and if you must, get a vasectomy first.
sirmikethegreat 4 years ago
Are you mad because these bands are able to still play and rock the shit...and that most bands today would not be able to go on as long as these bands? If you're so mad about them performing...then why did you look up the video to watch it then?
MrMeesta20 4 years ago
Everyone's couching their praise, saying "pretty good for old guys," etc.
This is just plain embarrassing to watch. It's like watching Ali in all those sad comebacks. You knew that there was never a better boxer when he was in his prime, but to see him humiliated like that, well, it was just such a shame.
Like this comeback. Retire Zep, PLEASE!
Margaux177 4 years ago 2
If anyone thinks this version is weak,
they need their ears checked,
Kashmir is AMAZING ... Plant hits the high notes harder and with more ease than on the original. If you don't believe me, dig the old CD out and listen to it again,
You might be surprised,
He's clearer in tone and hits the high C harder and with more ease
This is one of the best songs from the recent concert.

Hello to all Led Zepplein's faithful fans.
Peace,
R.A.P.
RobertAnthonyPlant1 4 years ago 2
RobertAnthonyPlant1, I know you are not actually Robert Plant because he would never say something so moronic. That, and also the fact that Robert lives in England while on your page it says you live in USA... And while I'm at it, let me point out that Robert Plant has been in Led Zeppelin since about four decades ago and knows that it's ZEPPELIN not Zepplein. LOSER.
taubes3 4 years ago
Just too sad.
Why would they attempt this at their ages?
Everyone's couching their praise, saying "pretty good for old guys," etc.
Just embarrassing to watch. Such a shame that these once-godly rock stars can't learn to walk away.
Margaux177 4 years ago
I ahree with you man. But Legendary status, such a horrible way of a great band ending. It gets to you; makes you want to end it as best as possible. I think Zeppelin did the right thing, somehow. It's the final chance to say goodbye before giving it in all together and moving on.
JupiterJiveGuitarist 4 years ago
