Negreanu didn't play the hand very well, shoulda put more pressure on early. Smooth calling with a set and two clubs on the flop was a mistake, it shoulda been a green light to take the hand over early and put the pressure on the possible club draw. Mind you he still can pair the board and win anyways so there isn't as much risk of overbetting the set. I still think Negreanu is one of the best in the world, just not on this hand.

@instructorCJET First of all this was a hard fold not because a set against a possible flush or a higher set but because the size of the bet only $5,000??? anyone would have call $5,000 with a set. Daniel called $3,500 on the turn!, an all in is a different story ...easy fold.
what makes this a good fold is-Daniel checked the turn and didn't go over the top of Mike after Matasow bet $3,500. if he woulda re-raised Mike on the turn and Mike called, then obviously Mike was holding the flush. but Daniel lost the absolute minimum by checking the turn to find out where Mike was at, instead of raising to find out where he was at.
Its a good play negraunu... but it was so OBVIOUS. Its called the best fold ever... um... what else could have happened? I knew matusow was gonna hit his flush, and i knew daniel was gonna fold. No surprises in this video... plus folding bottom trips when half of mike's range is better trips and a flush... i mean, he's only really against jack/seven as a loser b/c of the way mike bet. Plus, from the metagame, Daniel was getting involved in far too many pots so mike isn't gonna bluff on low cards
You know this because you saw the cards all the time. Diferent story when you're sitting there. Still, Matusow didn't play this hand perfectly, revealing his hand too much. But it's a good fold.
@skronis lol. When you have trips in a limped multi-way pot with two clubs on the flop you worry about a third club on the turn or the river. It is absolutely laughable to think that this could be Daniel's best fold ever - I honestly think that he himself would be offended by that notion. As someone who has played winning poker sense before I was legal to do so, I can tell you outright that when that turn hit Daniel was praying for the board to pair so he wasn't forced out of the pot.
I know, i was gonna write something similar to that but probably a little bit more aggressive!! ha ha.

what makes this a good fold is-Daniel checked the turn and didn't go over the top of Mike after Matasow bet $3,500. if he woulda re-raised Mike on the turn and Mike called, then obviously Mike was holding the flush. but Daniel lost the absolute minimum by checking the turn to find out where Mike was at, instead of raising to find out where he was at.

Its a good play negraunu... but it was so OBVIOUS. Its called the best fold ever... um... what else could have happened? I knew matusow was gonna hit his flush, and i knew daniel was gonna fold. No surprises in this video... plus folding bottom trips when half of mike's range is better trips and a flush... i mean, he's only really against jack/seven as a loser b/c of the way mike bet. Plus, from the metagame, Daniel was getting involved in far too many pots so mike isn't gonna bluff on low cards

You know this because you saw the cards all the time. Diferent story when you're sitting there. Still, Matusow didn't play this hand perfectly, revealing his hand too much. But it's a good fold.

@skronis lol. When you have trips in a limped multi-way pot with two clubs on the flop you worry about a third club on the turn or the river. It is absolutely laughable to think that this could be Daniel's best fold ever - I honestly think that he himself would be offended by that notion. As someone who has played winning poker sense before I was legal to do so, I can tell you outright that when that turn hit Daniel was praying for the board to pair so he wasn't forced out of the pot.

Phil laak wrecks my fuckin head!! He's like that annoying nerd in school that was fascinated with statistics and science etc...that everyone hated! ha ha.
