@citizenintime Gettin' scared, are ya? Newsflash, cunt: There are NO "union thugs." Just union men, and union women, who are ten times the woman that you are.
@UncleMikeNJ Of course there are union thugs. They're ignorant, ill-tempered enforcers hired by the union bosses to bust up anybody who disagrees with them. You know, all union members!
@citizenintime You're a fucking moron. Bush was the worst President since James Buchanan, and Carter created more jobs per year than any President since, and didn't break the law like every Republican President since Hoover. Carter was too conservative for America, but compared to the Republican Presidents since, he was a saint.
I had to laugh so hard because it's been an on going joke with me for years that all Jimmy Carter ever talked about was nuclear weapons this and nuclear weapons that. It also didn't make matters any better that he talks a little like Elmer Fudd.
Ronald Reagan was 69. Amy Carter was 13. Amy was both more mature and more knowledgeable.
Let's be totally fair here, the issues of 1977-80 would have smacked anyone. Ford was lucky he lost. Carter created more jobs per year than Reagan (look it up, it's true), but he was not well-suited to the job. He would have been much better as a Secretary of Defense, National Security Adviser or Chief of Staff to, say, a President Muskie. He never should have run.
@7beers You're half-right, he was extreme. He was so UN-knowledgeable that he thought a missile-defense system would work. Thirty years later, it still doesn't. How come the idiot Teabaggers don't want to cut THAT wasteful federal government spending? He was also so unknowledgeable he called a bunch of fascist Central American butchers "the moral equivalent to our Founding Fathers."
@UncleMikeNJ Ask any Soviet dissident, and they will tell you that Reagan was instrumental in the fall of the USSR. Here's just one example of many: watch the video on this site entitled "Yuri Yarim-Agaev — Freedom Fighter" (v=pWEqU6-JxJc)
@7beers The last time this nation listened to a Reaganite about who was a "freedom fighter" we ended up illegally funding fascist death squads in Central America. In fact, I'll go HERE, and say what you people say (lying) about FDR and the Depression: Reagan actually lengthened and deepened the Cold War -- until he signed the INF, and it was that, rather than his high crimes and misdemeanors and stupid jokes, that made conservatives like Will and Krauthammer say he was losing his mind.
@UncleMikeNJ Iran-Contra is another topic, so I'm not responding to that. I've already given you one reference to a well-known Russian dissident who stated absolutely that in his opinon Reagan was crucial to bringing down the USSR. I've read/watched several other Russian dissidents saying the same thing. What is your response to that specific point.
@7beers My response is that you bastards told us for half a century that Communists were liars and couldn't be trusted, and now you want us to trust their word. Go to hell.
@UncleMikeNJ I'm not asking you to trust a Communist. I'm asking you to trust Soviet dissidents who fought *against* communism. You equate communists with the people who devoted their lives to fight against communism?
@7beers No, I equate conservatives with fascists. I don't believe a goddamned word you say, and you've earned that. If Reagan had never been President, the Berlin Wall would still have fallen... and the World Trade Center would NOT.
I guess that was Carter's problem, he was consulting children! I guess that explains his big plan to offer the Iranians "all you can eat ice cream for a year" in exchange for the hostages.
What Carter said that was cut off was and his daughter thought the proliferation threat of the spread of nuclear weapons to terrorists was the biggest threat to our country... Just like we all worry about and Bush and Obama say now. Carter said it in 1979. Amy was right.
Carter also built the secret stealth bomber and the cruise missiles which formed the backbone of our military force for the next 2 decades.
I would have liked to have posted more of Carter's comments, but this is the only portion available from the source I had, unfortunately. Thanks for providing more context!
Wow what a stupid thing to say. Then again amy carter would even have better foreign policy notions than jimmy who gave away the panama canal, allowed American hostages to sit in iran for 444 days, and was a total wuss as president
Carter negotiated the Canal treaty-- we would have had to "give away" the Canal *back to Panama* regardless. Carter worked tirelessly all 444 days to bring the hostages back alive and he DID it, on his last day. I agree he wasn't a great president in terms of personality but we don't have to make negative stuff up about him-- there's plenty of *real* things he can be criticized for.
Hi, fine. Nice to talk with you again about that Ronnie. Ronnie Rotten, you didn't fool anyone, mang. Your sycophants wanted to be duped but your inane babbling is in a (low) class by itself. Only LBJ was more of a psycho and psychopath.
@lumpagogo i have an arsenal of rotten Reagan insults....they are almost as accurate as yours...thanks for the trickle down Ronnie , too bad it tastes like piss.
@lumpagogo With unfailing consistancy, U.S. intervention has been on the side of the rich and powerful of various nations at the expense of the poor and needy. Rather than strengthening democracies, U.S. leaders have overthrown numerous democratically elected governments or other populist regimes in dozens of countries ... whenever these nations give evidence of putting the
interests of their people ahead of the interests of multinational corporate interests.

Carter's not perfect. Made a few mistakes, unfortunately. And did adopted a few policies I disagree with. But come on... No matter how you look at it, better than Reagan!
um well thats not what the people at the time thought. mhmmmm let me think bout the eletion of 1980. Didn't Reagan win like 47 states? Yes? Something like that I think
You're right, you and I didn't. Reagan's money did. Don't you realize Ronald Reagan gave money to the Guatemalan military that supported the mass slaughter of the Mayan people? Or that he gave $270 million dollars to right-wing fascist terrorists to set up death squads in Nicaragua? Or sending OUR troops to El Salvador? Did you know we still have troops in El Salvador?
..wow um that's not that bad. I'd rather have a bunch of Right wing freaky nut fascist than a bunch of stupid ass left wing communist. Given what was going on in the world at that time I think Reagen made a choice that was different from his predecessor and I think it ultimately benefited America.
I'm sure you can say that with a smile to the families of the 30,000 dead Nicaraguans in the '80s. And a genocide helped America in another country HELPED America? Are you an idiot?

I respectfully disagree. He sounds articulate nowadays as a whiner and complainer about the behavior of others, but when he was in the hot seat as President he was the proverbial "deer in the headlights". He got nothing (except Camp David) right. And Camp David came about from the amazing courage and wisdom of Sadat, not from Carter's talents to any great degree. (Oh- one thing I agreed with was the hostage rescue attempt- everyone else maligned it, but it had to be tried).
I see. Very insightful point. I would also like to add he has done great work in regards to the Israel and Palestine issue - he seems to be the only one that is objective.
