It's not true that you can't train a cat! I'm training with my cat very often and he does very well! He does it without a toy and without treats, he only follows my hand... There's no cat agility event near our town, so I just do it at home, but it's great fun!!!
Of course a cat can be trained. Agility competitions are very rare and so no one "trains" for them. Why bother? If a competition DOES pop up people do not have training facilities to train their cat at like a dog does. You would need a large expensive set up and a well socialized cat. I've seen many cats finish agility comps perfectly and quickly. Also ANYONE is allowed to try and practice for the first time at these events
Just because one cat was not properly trained to tolerate crowds well doesn't mean that cats cannot do agility. I want to do agility with my cat, Quetzal, and he is already much better at it than that cat.
This cat was not ready for that environment. One poorly trained cat does not demonstrate that cats cannot be trained any more than the zillions of poorly trained dogs out there demonstrate that dogs cannot be trained...
well said. it was obvious the cat was very confused instead of being comfortable and certain what was going on. Cats that do agility well really like doing agility-tricks at home and overall are very active cats who really need lost of "smart" activity instead of just lying still doing nothing :)

no you cant train a cat, the only way you can get a cat to do what you want is to bribe them and make it worth their while...

Any animal can be trained if done correctly. Can't say that I'm a 'cat person', but still.
Of course, I still think this is pretty entertaining nonetheless.
