I always thought that Roger would do this song with WONDER... but only in the 70's or 80's. His voice not the same, and ANN WILSON, really?? She just has to do ANYTHING Led Zep. I cannot agree that she was the "best" choice for the other half of this 'duet'. In my opinion, Daltrey should have done this by himself in no later than the 80's, when his voice was top notch. So sorrry to Snuggly Sara re: my opinion!
This is from "British Rock Symphony" CD and DVD. Outstanding recordings of Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd songs. Many talents are featured on this litlle known recording / proyect. Alice Cooper, Tommy Shaw, Ann Wilson, and Roger Daltrey and several others, take a turn with The Who s`back up band !
@babyj1996 I downloaded it from Ares Galaxy an old p2p program long before torrents were around. I am a download junkie I have to admit I download shitloads of stuff LOL :D
Robert and Roger have different accents in relation to area and different melodic voices naturally given. Each great in their own, but can cover each other if they chose to do so. I just watched an interesting video of the two of them much older and talking backstage.
I love this song and both the singers and their own music (Love Reign O'er me is one of my favorite songs), but Daltrey lacks the proper feel for this song, and the stupid bulbous drum sound ruins the song.
For a better version that's different but heavy metal, search Led Box on iTunes, the Paul Di'Anno version.
Bur let's face it, there's no one as great as Zeppelin. I submit Robert Plant to be the greatest English poet to have ever lived. Not only did he write these lyrics when he was 25 yea
When I heard this song in the 70's, I always thought Daltrey could do a kick-ass job on this song. However, I didn't count on Ann Wilson being in it. I think he could have done a much better version on his own in the 70's. I love Ann Wilson, but for some reason I am not in tune with this version of my favorite Zep tune, even though I am a total Who freak...
I love both anne wilson and roger daultry. however, listening to this mutilated version gives me a greater appreciation for robert plant as a vocalist
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Heart's RED VELVET CAR - TOP CD, If you love Kashmir then you'll love this too. Past albums worth a mention are: Little Queen, Private Audition, & Greatest Hits (LIVE) has a "To Die For Version" of Mistral Wind. The self titled Heart CD is also good, as is Bad Animals CD, Brigade CD, Bebe Le Strange CD, Magazine CD, Of course you really should listen to their debut : Dreamboat Annie CD - That's the one that started it all for everybody! I'm a fan too! :)
