  • There's a special place in heaven for the Edge

  • Great!

U2 and Depeche Mode: two of the kings of the 80's and 90's music!!!

  • thank you this brought back incredible memories of an amazing concert and night.

U2 is the band of my lifetime. they sound better than ever this year worth the wait in Salt Lake City this past week

  • I was there... What a great feeling is to see them live at home...

  • Shivers from 0:00 to 5:50

  • Excelent video!!! U2 the best!!! :D

  • id you not wish youd just enjoyed tyhe concert instead of filming it

  • I was in this concert. That night was just a dream coming true. It rain a lot, the line outside the Croke Park was just cruel, but, man, it worth it! I miss breathe in this new leg...

  • The worst concert opening ever in U2 history. Remember the Zoo Tv opening or the

Joshua tree openeing with Streets. now we have the lazy ass opening with a crappy song

  • @kellykinsellives : Breathe is an excellent tune!!.. you're living back in the 80s adjust to the times!!

  • @kellykinsellives Better than Vertigo.

  • Dublin (the HOME of U2) needs to get its act together when welcoming them and the world home. The band and their Irish audience deserve better than a concert starting in broad daylight to accommodate the 'residents' who don't like parties going on too late! (Except if it's Lillies!!!)

When U2 'come home' the concert footage should always compete with the very best - Croke Park with the Hill 16 terraces doesn't quite do it, does it. U2 were annoyed about the early starts and rightly so.

  • @WhoDoYouWant You're right - this looks so underwhelming compared to the other shows held in proper stadiums, esp in daylight. Croker has a stand missing (Hill 16) so the concert misses something by not having an audience behind the stage to really complete the experience. When U2 come home it should be something special but this isn't it.

  • every day i , die again and again i'm reborn ........what a song !!

  • happy 50th bono best frontman ever

  • was there that night great tune

  • met larry in a petrol station 5 years ago in newry ! not kiddin i was starstruck hes a legend long live u2 ! hope the lads play the aviva this summer

  • where's the energy ireland? this is no way to show love to your greatest export. you guys look like your on line to get a root canal. i was at the NYC gig laster year and we had the show poppin'. i will admit that they shouldn't have played SOOOOO much new stuff. i'm all for playing new material but it was overkill.

  • I love these guys ... the band U2 and Dog Savanna are the bands that I like to hear! Viva Rock!

  • Cant wait until they play the new lansdown road in summer 2010...my 15 live gig in Dublin roll on U2!

  • they're not playing at the Aviva Stadium as far as anyone knows. They've annouced all European shows so no Dublin or UK or Netherlands...

  • @KieranF1Kimi The only UK appearance this year will be the Glastonbury festival, as for no Irish gig, I found this very strange till I heard Henry Mounthcharles saying how Slane won't go ahead this year, but next year will be very special as its the 40th anniversary of Slane concerts and also Mounthcharles 60th birthday, he said he is already in talks with who he wants, my moneys on U2, they will be touring the new album by then,

  • I was there!!!!!!!!! yooooooooohooooo

  • mee too !!!!!!!

  • Dublin concerts are the best ever for atmosphere.

  • dis was sum concert it was mi 1st and this was my fav song

  • ive seen this band live everytime since the war tour in 1983,they chased the dream and achieved it fair play to them, but what is going so wrong the 360 tour was the most lifeless show ive seen them do, a poor album and poor show to much the big specticle.its about time they rethink badly or call it a day

  • im fed up with the people in the stands sittin down.....just terrible

  • thats what you get with a stadium show. the larger the crowd the harder it is to reach everyone

  • I don't understand why the people are not acting like they were at U2's concert. Where is the energy people ? this is the amaziest concert ever!

  • Yep - I was at the Sheffield gig! 20.8.09!!! 8-)

  • I was at the Toronto show and someone had the nerve to tell me during the opening intro and Breath to sit down! I turned around and said to them: "Are you kidding me? I'm at a U2 concert!" Can't beelive the quality of video out there from this tour. Security has been very light when checking people at gates...

  • lol yeah this is how toronto ppl are, rich ass and fkn boaring

  • was there, what a great feeling when the landed on stage!

  • I was there in that little circle of people, it was amazing!!

  • excellent!!!

  • When Larry is walking in during the intro I wonder is he thinking "I played the snare drum here with the Artane Boys Band and now..."

  • Bono is on fire just now, his vocals are just incredible. Great footage btw ; ).

  • seen them in croke park in 1985 ,1987,2005 and 2 nights at 360 after all this time still an amazing band especially live.

  • amazing intro with breath.

and stand up comedy is OK, but is not a great song...

  • is this the first song they play at every concert? if not, i hope they do it on september 25th! see you there

  • good camera work

  • seeing them in giants stadium, parents are from ireland....cant fucking wait!!!!!

  • Stand up comedy = good? NO WAY.

  • Name a bigger band???????????

  • Well, i have seen many rediculous and frankly awful uninformed ignorant posts on Youtube over the years but you are either a) a wind up or b) totally fucking stupid !

  • amazing

  • this moment 4:15 and on is fantastic! Go Bono!!!

    ;)

  • what a night.. cant wait for wembley... thank you guys.. You will never ever walk alone :-)

  • Great filming great sound really well done

  • hi , great gig it was , anyone know what the intro song is just before they come on ? not bowies , the next !???

  • the 2nd song is 'kingdom' by u2. some people are saying its a left out track from horizon, others are saying it will be on the next album 'songs of ascent.'

  • Is that a u2 song when Larry comes on??

  • yes it is

  • Cool sounds good

  • yes, songs of ascent; their next new album.

  • ye its called 'kingdom'. its ment to be on the next album

  • Man watching this gives me flashbacks of one of the best days in my life. Me and my wife got married in Dublin that day then went to Croke that night still in our wedding outfits. What a night what a crowd what a band. U2 U2 U2

  • when i get married, im blatantly copying you! didnt bono talk to u guys?

  • Its about time they were recognised as the best band of all time...others try, none succeed in getting close to the 4 Northsiders!

  • what was the song playing before they got on stage.

  • jamesfish that song is called 'kingdom' from the next album 'songs of ascent'. it is on youtube to view. just type in above info and it wil come up.;):) its unreal alright:)

  • David Bowie Ground Control

  • the best of these concerts is U2006com!

    Thank you :)

  • wouldn't it b great if larry shouted out BOATS AND HOES at the start of his drum solo , great concert loved it

  • lol, ha ha!!! IT WAS A GREAT GIG THOUGH! FANTASTIC .

  • 1:16 Wrong timing with the mic.^^ (No problem, just funny!)

  • i was there.)

  • What a great show to have seen for your first concert! Hope it's the first of loads.

    U2 are awesome!

  • sat 25/7/09....a night i will never forget

  • this was my first concert. i loved this opening, it was a brilliant start to an amazing night. eventhough i was way up in the hogan stand i still had a fantastic time. the crowd was unreal. the big tree bar was full of u2 fans afterwards, the only place to be. i hope they do another great concert in the next couple of years, no other artist could top this. i had the time of my life.

  • saw them on the friday in Dublin.. for the 11th time.. they were amazing as always... probably the BEST YET... If Carlsberg did concerts... Go talk to U2... :-) ..Gotta see them again ... lucky to get tickets for August 15th.. roll on London.. You are in for 2 very special nights.. MAGNIFICENT !!!

  • CUNTS

  • Dirtball...

Fuck off you wanker... and leave your sister alone while you're at...

  • Cant wait to see them in Sheffield no matter how long you have been seeing them live everytime they tour you still get the same excitement as when i first saw them in 1987. Yes they have a new generation of fans but that cant be a bad thing. Great video by the way. I agree though wrong choice for the opening song. No line would of b een great opener. 21 days till Sheffield.

  • ke sn belllllllllllllliiiiiiiii

  • Most people forget that one of the greatest kilkenny sporting heros won his titles under "hill 16" and not in front of it!!!back in the days when Ducksy Walsh was hitting balls against the plasterwork that opponents could not return!

  • ive nearl al this concert on cd if any one wants to buy it

  • whats the quality like?

  • i was there that they in the hogan stand.was a brill concert

  • they have totally got the 360 thing wrong every show is empty at the back good comment man.

flossy 411 you should be ashamed of yourself! I bet your mother wouldbe!!!

  • no need for swearing man!!

  • in reply to hunty.

What is youtube all about if you can't comment on a video.

I have seen u2 several times and that is a poor start to a show.

I honestly think that they are past their best.

I have been a fan since 1983 when I first saw pride on good morning britain in my friends house at 7.55 am before we went to school. The last album was poor and this album is poor!People look bored!?!

Sorry for the rant but hey they are only pop stars at the end of the day.

    LOVE AND PEACE TO ALL!!!!!!

  • Its a new song, so people aren't going to go nuts on this tour. I have been told that when they played where the streets have no name on the JT tour, the crowd were not that into it. I agree that Breathe is not a great opener, I would have preferred Magnificent (or Zoo Station).

  • This is probably the best song on the new album. It will probably be the last sing they release of the album, keeping the best till last.

There is no credibility in people saying this opening is poor who obviously were not at the concert because you cannot just comment on an entire show by watching a video of it.

I do agree with people saying the stage was in the wrong place and sitting in the Davin Stand (Canal) you felt far away.

  • Is that the actual start of the show???

Going down Bono my man not UP!!!

  • That is poor!

It certainly seems to be lacking something.

I think that dublin audiences are a little like london audiences, "too cool for school"!! This new stuff is weak I couldnt sing a full song off the new album no make that hum one!

  • then you should just FUCK OFF then cause i was at that & everyone was erupting & unless you were do't you've no idea what your talking about

  • go fuck yourself,troll

    get a life

  • seen u2 in cork during the zoo tv tour and in lansdown during popmart and this was the weakest of them, something was missing from the crowd or maby the set list was a bit off, also the stage not been in the middle like it was ment to be made the people in the canal end far to far away from the band..

  • see ya in Poland!

    6th august 2009

  • your right this is the best opener for the 360 tour and the best song of the new album

  • i dont get why everybody is saying that this is not a good opener. its probably the best song to open the 360 tour.

  • Zoo station was a much better intro

  • Having seen U2 live 28 times globally and watched every tour since Lovetown in Dec 1989, I think i'm better placed than most to comment: Breathe should not be the opener, not a patch on Streets, Zoo, Elevation or Vertigo as opening tracks go. Another mistake I fear is playing Unknown Caller , seeing them just once this time: Cardiff. Looking forward to it.

  • I respect that youve seen them alot of times, but I find breathe a great opener and I love unknown caller as well.

  • 0:00 to 0:50 - best part of the whole concert right there!

  • Great song, but its no Zoo Station as an opener

  • yeah you're right...its no Zoo Station...its an even better opener...doesn't get any better than a powerful drum intro building into a creschendo

  • sharkface098 .....you after your 28 shows should know , songs like streets have to be reached during a show , not used as intros . i have seen the boys 42 times , and breathe is a great into . we shall agree to disagree !!

  • Look pal, the name is SKarface.....as in Tony Montana...ok? LOL

yeh i agree Streets is better placed towards the end. I think it is quite a weak new album hence not many intro options...perhaps Magnificent would've been better than Breathe.....oh well, a U2 audience is always excited anyway, even if Bono came up and farted on the mic as an intro.....LMAO....

  • What's a crescHendo? ... you lose.

  • goin tonight (sunday 27th of july) nd cant wait

  • SMELLY CUNTS

  • great comment fathead !! nothing intelligent to say ??!! put down the playstation and open your mind !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dirtball... did you get your name because you couldn't yourself alone... you wanker?

Fuck off and don't come back...!!!

Ps. leave your sister alone too...

  • Roll on Glasgow......

  • breathe .great song , great live , great intro !! U2 , nailed it once again !!

  • RTE Sport! Guinness!

  • this country is a joke... €6.60 a pint a train that cost €66 to cork yet online its €36 where is the logic in this place, no wonder we have people out of work..... It about time we checked ourselves out and get our act together... really pissed me off and im irish and i love U2... Great gig lads best day of my life... Thanks

  • Haha, trust me.. Paris was even worse, 10 euro for a fucking beer and 7 for a normal cola.. shit country

  • Fair play to ya Bonovoxcork boy...i'd have liked to have gone up from Cork myself, was the train mental??...hopefully I'll make it next time :-(

  • the show wasnt even 360 in croke park.typical we cant get anything fuckin right in this country.however i say the fans still had a blast!

  • your so right..... joke of a place

  • Best U2 show I've ever been to. Lovely atmosphere and they seemed happy to be at home.

Amazing opening too, my fav song off the album.

  • this crowd is absolutely dead. Liven up, people!

  • i found a lot of people were dead at this concert. i screamed myself hoarse however lol! amazing show

  • believe me, it wasnt. Watch sunday bloody sunday to believe me.

  • they should open with FEZ instead. I hate this as an opener

  • you should stop smoking crack, opening up with FEZ being born??? Breahe is the only song to open the concert with...you don't know what you're talking about

  • It's just my opinion dude. Maybe you don't know what you're talking about.

  • i agree , breathe , great intro !!! what a band !!

  • What agreat show this was!! I wish i could go everynight... I feel sorry for people that Don't enjoy something then feel the need to look for it on you tube and leave negative comments, It's quite sad! I on the otherhand searched for this because it was one of the best, if not THE BEST shows I've ever seen! thanks for posting!! =)

  • 'dirtballjohnny'?...that guy is well named!

I was at last night's gig in Croke Park and U2 were truely awesome, as this intro shows.

    Brilliant, end of.

  • Well said Karcelt, well said my man (or girl) Might one add "dirt ball" is of course an attenction seeker and of course you tube is a platform for this type of prick to get a reaction.

  • they are still , and always have been , the best musical act this planet has ever seen !! and for all you cynics out there , try do something positive for the world instead of trying to see fault in everything !!

  • Karl,

I was at he gig last pm... and thought it was very good but just... was not blown away... and they did not even mention the fact that they were in Dublin...? A bit dissappointed just...!!! Very little intimacy with crowd compared to other gigs that I went to in past... The set was absolutely fantastic though... maybe just expected too much...?

  • johnny , you are a dirtball !! i bet you are an ugly , angry , bitter , lonely , greedy , grubby , bitter little man !! this world needs less people like you , you little prick !!!!

  • why you here then you piece of shit?

  • why have u got u2 as ur favourites

  • they metioned dublin on friday night and said that Croke Park was the best place to see u2 live

  • I agree with DenMyster01. I was in the Davin Stand/Old canal end and felt very removed from the gig and atmosphere. The first 4 songs for me just didn't get it going in my opinion. i have seen them every tour since zooropa and this for me was the weakest show . Still the older songs kicked the crowd off once they were rolled out.

  • i think these 4 songs were great to start the show, not the bands fault if hundreds of greatest hits fans turn up. I wouldnt change this opening at all.

  • Derm... I have been to all home gigs since Unforgettable Fire (seems too long ago), so the Greatest Hits fans comment is a bit unfair - given that U2 now have fans spread across a couple generations and some of the older ones like myself literally could not be arsed with being down in the pit or front anymore... that's the domain of a new crowd.

I agree tho the intro was great but from the Canal End you literally needed binoculars to see anything + I spent most of the concert watching TV!

  • The stands which were in the back like Crushak stand were really out of the concert. U2 just looked like ants.

  • did you not listen ?!! they did mention Dublin , and the fact that its where they live .

  • Karl... I must have missed it big style... we were high up in Cusack Stand right down at Canal end... so you could not have any further really...

Musically it was very polished but did you not think it lacked abit? Every body on the coach on the way back up to Belfast was kinda of saying the same... Funnily my mate is going on Monday because he can't believe it... and "... must exorcise the demons of Saturday's concert..." work that out...!!!

  • I was right on front of the stage :)

  • I was hoping the new songs would hit me at the concert but still feel the new album is a huge let down.

  • You can tell they've really got it down now. Bono's cadence is tight, all of their stage movements make sense, and they're performing with confidence and aplomb.

Looks like a very solid show.

  • 360 IF YOuve got a neck like a jockeys bollocks RAY

  • Only in Dublin that the stage only goes 270

    classic

  • thats because of "Hill 16" behind the stage- theres a history to that!

  • Why can't we not knock Hill 16... I know we Irish have a history in construction but ffs... Hill 16 looks like a building site... unfinished at that... embarassing when the whole concept was 360 and you looked at the Hill end + it was empty???

Only the "Durty Dubs" want to kept...

Plus the fact why do all the concerts start in the "afternoon" and loose the 1st 1hr of the atmosphere - things like this piss me off about Dublin/Ireland when you consider the concert in Nou Camp + Barcelona...

  • Right behind Hill 16 is a railway line, thats the first problem, but the real problem is the houses that are 40 feet beyond the railway line, have south facing gardens and have "right to light" bylaws established for the past 60 years. This was all discussed and argued about at the redevelopment of Croker, nothing could be done and its old news for anyone who cares.

  • Itsmichaeljohn...

Thanks ... coming from the North we don't get to hear that much about it... apart from the big days out for Tyrone etc.. for All Irelands etc...

i was really impressed with it for the rugby against France this year and then again on Sat pm. as it was the 1st time I was there since 91 for Down. It is a brilliant stadium apart from that end. Looks like a done deal though and the Dubs have their way?

  • go to the all ireland hurling final there best buzz of all if killkenny arent hockying the shit out of whoever they are playin

  • The whole 360 concept is a lame gimmick anyhow.

Who cares if it only goes 270?

  • depends on the stadium croke park has huge seat cappacitity but the pitch is quite small so there was no point havin it in the middle...

  • Super beelden U2006, genieten en nog eens genieten. Heb U2 in de ArenA gezien, fantastisch. Bono is vocaal op z'n best in Dublin!

  • Wow! U2006 - fantastic videos - I've been "following" the footage all around Europe! Thanks!

  • one of the best nights of my life......the best gig u could ever go to, it just doesnt get any better than u2 in dublin :) great vid thank u

  • Nicely shot video..thanks for sharing. Not the best opening song I have ever seen from either U2 or any other band but its good to see a real band still alive and well in this era of talent show pop. Awful shame Dublin authorities still insist on daylight starts especially for bands like U2 who invest heavily in their lights\ stage show. Well done again for posting.

  • Superb... Thanks for putting this up. I saw them live for the first time at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1985 with REM and The Ramones, just a week before Live Aid. Got into them through War, backtracked a couple of albums and here we are. They were great then and they're still great now! (Obviously just my humble opinion)

  • have been to most u2 gigs in ireland. the atmosphere at this one was the best yet. crowd were electric right from the start

  • AMAZING NIGHT ... i think my feet just hit the ground again... WHAT A NIGHT... thanks for posting... u2006com.... how the hell do you do it.. vids are fantastic.. well done :-)

  • best night of my life UNBELIEVEABLE

  • Brilliant footage fair play to you. I was there last night and im going again tonight, what a concert unreal. The best place in the world to watch U2, DUBLIN. Ronnie Drew R.I.P, nice tribute Bono.

  • SUPER SUPER SUPER

  • absolutely amazin last nite! enjoy tonite if ur goin, brilliant stuff!

  • I am going to this show tonight, cannot wait,, first seen them on 27/6/87....in the same venue,, they opened up with Streets on that show, and the place simply erupted....glad to see there playing Bad in the Dublin sets,, cant wait for this
