  • full auto would have crazy recoil

  • @ Nikitos253 (continued) ...rate); XM177E2 has full-auto capability (most M4s are limited to 3-shot burst only), and XM177E2 has no bayonet lug (M4 does).

  • @ Nikitos253 @ Nikitos253 Here are the main differences: the XM177E2 has a slim 11.5" barrel with a large moderator/supressor (M4 has a thicker 14.5" barrel with a standard A2 flash hider), XM177E2 has a fixed carrying handle with simple A1 rear sight (M4 typically has a removeable carrying handle with more complex A2 rear sight), XM177E2 has an aluminum buttstock with 2 positions (M4 has a plastic buttstock with 4-6 positions), XM177E2 barrel has a 1:12 twist rate (M4 barrel has a 1:7 twist ra

  • Very nice build..

  • you have a very fine gun there i pay respect to your father

  • can some 1 tell me the diffrance between this gun and m4?

  • is standard issue STANAG can be used on this rifle sir?

  • @ms14sGTR STANAG scope mount? No, not without an adapter. There are scopes that will mount to the carrying handle.

  • @ms14sGTR how about current issue STANAG mags?

  • @ms14sGTR Sure, but to keep with the Vietnam war era look, I use the old Colt 20 round mags. But the current ones will still work.

  • @Shep0815 thanks for info sir.

  • was your father a infantryman or in the SOG?

  • @jaredlee283 SOG RT Oregon

  • @Shep0815 You have my respect.

  • Never piss off mario

  • If anyoneis looking, Nodakspud has new manufacture retro XM177 type moderators and fake moderators that look original, they also have uppers of the early no fwd assist type and A1 type, colt style, uppers. I havent seen the surplus colt uppers after I got mine (from Placer CBS) but if anyone finds a factory colt 70's-80's era carbine barrel let me know.

  • Nice build. Ive been building an all colt carbine and im still cross on if I want the 16" barrel or the xm177 type. Mine started out as an early unfired SP1 my buddy gave me years ago. Although unfired it had some storage damage (snapped off sight ears) so I needed to replace the upper. in doing so I decided I wanted a carbine so I purchased a colt collapsing stock and a surplus colt A1 upper (to keep it without the fwd assist). The only thing I have yet to find is a lightweight colt 16" barrel.

  • nice, glad you could find all the parts for it.

  • that thing sounds louder than a standard length m-16. PS. is that a supressor at the end of the barrel ?

  • do you know why the m-16a1 was insufficient for SF use in NAM ?

  • where did you find the parts needed ?

  • @Perseiden2 scrounging at gun shows and the internet for 2 years

  • Finally finished it eh? Looks great.
