I thought everybody knew about this. Its possible on one of the levels in the original super mario bros as well. If I rememeber correctly though overdoing it causes you to either die or it starts back over at one life.

Don't be too impressed folks a simple SNES GameGenie code unlocks all the levels in Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels (just make sure you turn off the codes if you want to save the levels to the SNES cartridge) your done. If someone wants to impress me download the harder Famicom Disk System version on Wii Virtual Console and get to World 9 then you'll be the man the wimpy SNES All-Stars version wont cut here so that's what you have to do. I DARE ANYONE TO TRY IT.

Yeah...I just completed the game (again). I only needed let's say max. 80 lives to beat Worlds 1 to 8, I think 2-3 lives to beat World 9 and 30-40 lives to beat Worlds A to D. The entire process took me 3 hours and 20 minutes. #:-S

This is the first time I reach World 9. :D

No... Only works with mario! Luigi carries slightly more weight which causes the shell to break on the 23rd jump...

When I tried to do it with Luigi and the shell smashed, Luigi landed then turned towards the screen gave me this really guilty look as if to say "Sorry I'm not as good as my brother." then he took off through the level automatically as a kind of apology.
